Apple watch on hand. Should you buy an Apple Watch for your girlfriend?

Apple Watch have released a new series of smart gadgets in two sizes – 38mm or 42mm. This gives the buyer the opportunity to choose a model in accordance with the individual parameters of the wrist. Sample c is preferred by girls, and sample c – 42mm by the opposite half of the sex. The selection criteria are not limited to these parameters. Let's talk about which Apple Watch is better to choose.

Comparison of Apple Watch 38mm and 42mm

Apple Watch comparison showed that representatives different sizes similar in characteristics. The samples were developed simultaneously, and they arrived on the shelves with a difference of one month. Let's figure out what indicators 38 and 42 mean.

The numbers next to the gadget name indicate the screen size. Each user, regardless of gender, has certain tastes. Some people like the big screen, others prefer the miniature version. It is worth remembering the different strap parameters. Size 38mm is designed for wrist girth 130-200mm, and 42 – 140-210mm.

Good day!

Apple Watch 3 went on sale quite recently and I was already lucky enough to become its owner! I already have experience using Apple Watch Series 1 Sport 38mm in a silver case, so I decided to upgrade the next model and chose a steel 42mm.

In Russia, the steel version of the watch is not yet available for sale, my model was purchased in Japan.

The steel version of the watch is available in two colors: black and white.

Spot series in three: black, silver and rose gold.

Previously, it seemed to me that the 42 mm size was a version exclusively for men, that on a fragile woman’s hand they would look a little heavy and this is true, but now this does not bother me, after all, with a 42 mm screen I am much more comfortable, and to give the watch more feminine look - I ordered some beautiful feminine straps from ebay.

Agree that for girls the ability to change straps is very useful, because we love different styles in clothes, as well as our mood and color preferences are changeable. And the Chinese brothers help us save on original straps, which gives us the opportunity to have 3-4 replacement accessories in stock, for the price of one original one (and after buying a watch there is unlikely to be any money left over for replacement accessories)

New The manufacturer positions the Apple Watch Series 3 an order of magnitude higher their younger brothers, for the following reasons:

  • more powerful processor;
  • in connection with this, Siri began to speak, i.e. respond by voice to a voice request (previously the answer was only in the form of text);
  • Improved retina screen, it has become twice as bright (this is useful in bright sunshine);;
  • More powerful battery(should be enough for 2 days of active use, to be honest, the Apple Watch Series 1 Sport was also enough for me for 2 days);
  • Water resistance: you can swim and shower in the watch (it is better to swim in fresh water, sea water will easily damage the watch case);
  • Built-in GPS module;
  • Barometric altimeter (the watch is sensitive to changes in altitude, i.e. it understands movement up or down and can take this into account when measuring physical activity);
  • Microchip for wireless communication(the ability of the watch to work autonomously from the phone, but this is only possible if your operator supports this function. In Russia, not a single operator cellular communication This function is not yet supported and it is not known when it will be)

This is what the watch packaging looks like now:

For comparison, the previous model had a completely different box shape, in my opinion, less compact:

When you open the box, you immediately see the watch like this:

The clock is on this plastic stand, which can later be used as a “base” for these watches:

As usual, the kit includes two strap sizes S/M and M/L:

station for wireless charging(with the help of a magnet it is attached to the back wall of the watch and thus charges it):

The charging wire is now 1 m long; my previous Apple Watch Series 1 Sport had a wire length of 2 meters, but for me this is not important, since charging will take up less space on the road.

New and old watches side by side:

If you, like me, change your watch model, then when you link it to your iPhone, all the settings of the old watch will be transferred to the new one, i.e. those screens that you configured earlier will automatically appear on the new watch.

By the way, Apple Watch Series 3 is compatible with iPhone models, starting from 5S and to synchronize you need to update to the latest IOS version 11.0.1 .

For those who are not familiar with smart watch Apple, let me explain: on your phone you can customize a great variety of screens on your watch to your taste and color, to make it clearer I’ll show you what it looks like in the phone menu:

You can change screens according to your mood and need by simply flipping; here are possible variations on this theme:

Screens with views of nature and various world cities change with the passage of the day and the time of sunrise and sunset in your region, i.e. for example, you have a London screensaver, when it’s morning - it’s dawn on your screensaver, in the afternoon - the sun is at its zenith and at sunset on the clock screen the sun gradually sets and a night city appears, this is what it looks like:

Honestly, I really like this feature. A small thing, of course, but very pleasant!

Another important feature of “smart watches” is that when you slightly change the angle of your hand to see the time, the screen lights up automatically and you see the time and other information from the screen (weather or physical activity, time in another region, etc. ).

This is how the 42mm watch looks on my hand:

For comparison, I show the dimensions of 42mm and 38mm on my hand with the same screensaver:

The main menu button (wheel) is now colored red for some reason:

To be honest, I was very surprised by this design decision, it looks like an amazing red spot on a strict black color (on the steel color of a light watch model, in my opinion, red is even more ridiculous), I decided this issue for myself - by ordering a red strap, I will later add a photo with red strap for review (when it reaches me).

An example of working with applications on the watch:

As I mentioned, clicking on the “red button” takes us to the main menu, in which we see icons of all applications available on the watch:

Selected weather (cities that interest you in this menu can be customized to your liking)::

Selected menu Google maps and set the object I want to get to, the watch gives the route:

This is what it looks like back panel hours (absolutely the same as before, nothing has changed):

The basic package includes a black silicone strap, which has a very comfortable clasp, everything is thought out so that the clasp cannot become wrinkled or deteriorate during use:

When swiping from top to bottom: We see the latest notifications (messenger messages, SMS, missed calls, activity update progress).

When swiping the screen from bottom to top we see this menu:

Upper lefticon- the watch works autonomously from a cellular connection (a function that is not yet supported mobile operators in Russia).

Drop- cleaning the wheel from moisture after the watch interacts with water. By pressing it, the phone tells you what to do with the wheel to get the water out.

AND "flashlight" mode appeared it works in three variations: simple white screen, flickering screen and red screen. I checked the mode - it really works like a flashlight in a dark room (another little thing, but a pleasant one).

flashlight mode

For comparison, this is what the same menu looked like for the first model:

Useful functionality of the Apple Watch:

  • answer calls without taking out your phone (convenient while driving);
  • receive SMS messages from instant messengers on the watch and display them on the screen, the ability to respond to messages with short options (ok, ok, no, of course, no problem) or the answer can be dictated, the watch transforms voice into text (convenient in classes, meetings, etc.) cinema, theater);
  • monitoring daily activity, counting calories burned per day;
  • the watch reminds you of the necessary rest or planned training;
  • heart rate control;
  • mobility (using maps, weather, Siri, making phone calls from the watch using Siri)

To summarize, the fundamental differences between the new and old watches for me personally are:

  • a large screen is much more convenient and useful for me;
  • I like the watch better in a steel case, firstly, this model has a sapphire crystal, and secondly, you feel that you are holding a serious watch in your hands, in an aluminum case I had the feeling that the watch was plastic and very fragile, the glass and case are also easily scratched, so I had to use a cover. I don't need the case now.
  • water resistance - when exposed to rain, washing dishes and in other cases of contact with water, the watch is protected!
  • opportunity battery life hours from the phone (I think many operators will soon begin to support this function);
  • improved calorie counting and heart rate measurement system;
  • response time - the watch works many times faster than its younger brothers.

It seems to me that the differences between the models of the old and new series of watches are at the moment not fundamental (given the controversial situation with support for copying a SIM card to a watch).

Personally, the watch case and screen size are more important, which significantly affects functionality.

But in any case, a “smart watch” is more of a toy than a really necessary thing, although in our rhythm and lifestyle, perhaps they will soon become a necessity!

The price for my watch model in the official Apple Store was 79,000 Japanese prices, which in terms of rubles at the current exchange rate is 40,000.

Update from October 16, 2017, as promised - photos of the replacement red strap in the Hermes style:

The Apple Watch 4 is the first big update to a device the brand has abandoned for a number of years - in fact, we've had something different since the first model arrived years ago.

We recently spent some time with the new device at Apple's launch event and added some additional thoughts based on our time in the demo area—there are a few new features on this new wrist.

Apple Watch 3 recently lost its title as the best smartwatch in our rankings in Samsung Galaxy Watch - so could the Watch 4 (or the Apple Watch Series 4, to give it full title) take it to the top of the charts?

Below you can catch up on the Apple Watch 4 news with our handy video announcement

Apple Watch 4 price and release date

Apple Watch 4 comes in four sizes: 40mm and 44mm, with or without LTE.

As for the Apple Watch 4 release date, we're looking at September 14th for pre-orders, but September 21st if you want to get this thing on your wrist.

The GPS-only version will start at $399 / £399 / AU$599 for the smallest version, starting in 26 territories. The cellular option will be $499 / US$499 / AU$749 and will be released in 16 markets. We will update this section with more pricing and availability information as we receive it.

If you're looking for an LTE watch contract, you'll be looking at carriers like ATT, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile in the US. EE is offering deals for the LTE version of the Watch, as it did for the Apple Watch 3 in the UK, plus Vodafone is now offering deals for the first time.

Design and screen

The new Apple Watch 4 comes in 44mm and 40mm sizes.

If you asked most people what upgrade they would like to see on their Apple Watch, most would say that they would like it to be round or have a larger display.

Well, they're not going to get the former, no matter how many patents Apple holds for more rounded designs, but the latter has come true.

The design of the Apple Watch 4 is very similar to many of them: it's based on the previous four models (the first Watch was redesigned and re-released, remember), but now it's a little bigger, as you can see off to the side in the shot below.

42mm Apple Watch 3, left and 44mm Apple Watch 4, right

This means you get a rectangular OLED display with rounded edges that curve towards your wrist.

The same fast(ish) bands are returning—it would be something of a surprise if they were gone given the Watch Band ecosystem Apple has built around them—and a heart rate monitor is present on the back of the device (more on that later ).

The Digital Crown, a rotating dial that lets you scroll through lists and press "enter" when pressed, returns (with a red-zone version denoting that the Watch 4 has LTE connectivity) and above/below that (depending on what wrist you're wearing) you have a device) is the power/multitasking button.

It's also now tactile, meaning you can scroll it and get a vibrating 'tick' every time you scroll something on the screen - it's a really useful update that makes using the scrolling crown more rewarding, and there's even a slightly audible click , as it rolls.

Everything feels polished, well made and fairly light on the wrist. Rear end watches - it even includes ceramic and sapphire to add a little sparkle to it and make sure that cellular signal can go well - and it's truly visually striking when you see it for the first time.

The speaker and microphone have been moved too far, so the speaker can be 50% louder without mic interference - not that you'll use it all the time, but it's a more useful way to have a conversation in the car or anything.

But let's get to that screen! New thing! A visual change to the Apple Watch, finally!

The change here is that the screen has been tucked towards the edges of the Clock, so there are no more ugly black borders around the sides of what you're looking at.

Saying that many apps were already using a black background so it was quite difficult to see the border, but with big screen you can see much more information. Then there's also that border - it's as much edge-to-edge as the iPhone XR.

Apple has used this to good effect by allowing more complications on the sides of the view so you can see more information at a glance - it will be interesting to see how long it takes to third party applications have been redesigned to take full advantage of the additional display space.

There are also some new watches here: Apple has created new "beautiful" scenes to display on mobile phone, as well as new complications thanks to the large space - for example, you can tag as friends, which provides easy access to calls and messages.

The Apple Watch 4 still uses the same OLED technology as before, and still doesn't have that "always present" display that many would like - you still need to raise your wrist to wake it, and so far we haven't been able to test this in several scenarios in the demo area (e.g. sitting, standing, lying in bed), in the past the boost response has always been pretty good from wristwatch Apple.

The screen is strong, dynamic and colorful, and the new Watch videos really add to the mix. There's a lot more you can do to accessorize it, and while it doesn't look any flashier, it does make an impression on the eye just by getting bigger.

fitness

The Apple Watch has been gaining traction over the years as a fitness device, incorporating increasingly sophisticated tracking of your runs and cycles, connecting to separate exercise equipment, and monitoring you for assistance.

Everything is offered here, but the fitness skill has been supplemented in several ways. The main one is an improved heart rate monitor, and while that won't be of interest to many, there are a lot of people who want to know more about themselves, and that's where Apple is aiming this device.

We know someone with diabetes, and if the Apple Watch is ever able to monitor their blood glucose levels, they will buy it immediately.

Apple Watch 4 has an improved tracker for checking how your ticker is beating using an ECG (electrocardiogram) monitor to give better readings in a medical scenario. Of course, it's still not certified as a medical device, but it can give better notifications about things you might want to receive.

We haven't yet been able to test that this feature isn't coming to the US for a month or two, and will be released elsewhere later, so the basic heart rate monitor looked, well, basic.

There should also be improvement in the overall functionality of the heart rate monitor when just working out in general, which will be greatly welcomed by fitness fans since the Apple Watch has never been the best at reading your heart rate when it's disturbed during a workout.

WatchOS 5 has also been added, which means more automatic exercise tracking, but that's coming to the full range of Apple Watch devices in the near future.

battery

The Apple Watch 4's battery life has improved once again, thanks to the presence of the new S4 chipset in creating more efficiency and (presumably) for Apple finding a way to score a little more battery into space by further reducing other components,

Apple currently claims that the Watch 4's battery life remains at 18 hours for all-day use, although this is a bit disappointing and keeps it below the level claimed by others such as Samsung or more dedicated launch devices.

For some reason, however, Apple seems to be underestimating its battery life—when it first claimed 18 hours on a single charge, we found that it would last a little longer. Plus you can now go for 6 hours in GPS mode, making it attractive to more marathon runners.

However, with a more impressive heart rate monitor and the inclusion of GPS for tracking on the go, as well as connecting to your phone to show notifications, there's a lot to do with this watch.

The charging setup is the same as before: you have a wireless but magnetically connected charger that clips onto the back of the Watch 4 - it's a pretty strong connection despite using magnets, so you'll rarely be tapping the watch to turn it off at night.

Early verdict

The Apple Watch does bring some upgrades, and the biggest and most important one is to this display. Finding a way to provide additional information The on display is a big improvement here and will attract more users by bringing more information to their wrist.

Absence specialized applications remains a problem - brands are hesitant to put their products on the Watch, and some older apps are being discontinued, but as a standalone Apple devices definitely improved its wristwatches in 2018.

  • 5 Things You May Have Missed During the Apple Watch Series 4 Launch

Apple Watch is the most popular smart watch at the moment. With iWatch you can easily find out what time it is, even if the smart watch is not on your hand. Last year, the brand was recognized as the most popular brand in the world, overtaking Rolex a few years earlier in the ranking of the most popular luxury watches. Users of the device appreciate it for its appearance, ease of wear, interface and, of course, versatility. This is not only a wristwatch, but also a mini version of your iPhone, and also:

  • stopwatch;
  • timer;
  • calendar;
  • and even a desk alarm clock.

Enabling the clock function

When Apple Watch is on your wrist, find out current time very simple. You just need to raise your hand and bring it closer to your face. The device's sensors will respond to hand movements and the time will be displayed on the display. But how can you find out what time it is if the Apple Watch is not on your hand?

  • first option - you can touch the watch display with your finger or press side button or the side-mounted Digital Crown. Both actions will wake the device from sleep mode and the display will show the time;
  • the second option is to use one of the non-obvious functions of the Apple Watch, which we will discuss below.

How to find out what time it is on Apple Watch?

Many users of Apple products know about the existence of the “Nightstand Mode”. It allows the device to be useful to the user, even when he's not wearing it. Standing on a surface, Apple Watch can act as table clock. However, not everyone knows that in order to find out the current time, it is not at all necessary to put a watch on your hand.

How to do this by tapping your knuckles on the surface?

Very simple. You just need to knock your knuckles on the surface on which the watch stands. The surface itself is not important - it can be a table, bedside table, shelf - whatever. Sensors located in the Apple Watch detect vibration and the watch display is activated for thirty seconds.

iWatch has released a new series of smart watches in two versions, differing in size - 38 or 42 mm. Which Apple Watch is better to buy and how it differs is described in detail in the following article. Mostly girls like 38mm smartwatches, while 42mm ones are more preferred by men. Apple Watch 42 looks voluminous on a woman’s hand.

iWatch is undoubtedly a very convenient and, importantly, stylish gadget. They are perfect for both men and women. Many ladies who just want to buy such a watch have questions: how to choose an Apple Watch for women so that it does not look too masculine on a fragile woman’s hand?

Girls leading an active lifestyle

Let's start with the fact that the Apple iWatch is perfect for girls who lead an active lifestyle and always want to be aware of events and at the same time remain stylish.

Women's type and type of Apple Watch: 3 options for bracelet models

The world-famous company presented three dissimilar iWatch lines (all the variety of Apple watches is shown in the photo):

  1. The classic version has clear lines and a strict design, so they will look great on the elegant hand of a business woman. The case and strap are made of stainless steel, which makes the device elegant.
  2. iWatch for sporty girls has a comfortable and durable silicone strap, equipped with a reliable lock.
  3. Smart watch from the Edition series are framed in 18 carat gold, making the product look modern and expensive. The company presented only two colors:
  • pink;

But the buyer must decide for herself which color of Apple Watch 4 to choose.

Women's wristwatch called Apple Watch is a multifunctional and stylish device at the same time. The developers even took into account the fact that a woman’s wrist is much more graceful than a man’s, so the watch dial is different from the strap.

In addition to the stylish design, they are also comfortable and easy to use, despite their multifunctionality. Also, the iWatch developers took into account that women's wrists are thinner and more graceful than men's, so they differ in dial and strap type.

Appearance

Externally, these two gadgets are identical, only the size of the watch itself and the strap differ. The 38 mm gadget is visually smaller and has a smaller strap girth. The weight of the device itself differs slightly.

Women's Apple Watch: specifications

Let's take a look at technical characteristics, it is the same in both devices.

Every Apple Watch has standard features and built-in sensors. The 42mm Apple Watch has a more powerful battery than the 38mm.

Why do girls choose Apple Watch?

The company has always been distinguished by the production of only high-quality products, so it is natural that iWatch has undeniable advantages:

  1. iWatch cannot be stolen. At first glance, it seems that the straps of branded gadgets are weak and can be opened without problems, but this is not the case. In addition, if you strengthen the protection, then even after removing the gadget you must enter .
  2. Electronics do not become boring, if necessary, and women's watch Apple Watch will take on a completely different look.
  3. Charging the electronics lasts for the whole day, subject to active use. As a last resort, if there is too little charge left, the iWatch automatically switches to saving mode.
  4. With a smartwatch, you no longer have to constantly take out your iPhone to check your email because all messages are displayed on the watch face.
  5. On the dial you can independently change and select the necessary ones, which is very convenient, especially if you lead an active lifestyle.
