The procedure for issuing and changing the series and numbers on the vehicle numbers
It is important to know that license plates use any numbers (from 0 to 9), but not all letters. It was decided to use in the designations only those letters that have similar designations in the Latin alphabet. Thus, the following letters are used on license plates of cars: A, B, C, E, K, M, H, O, P, T, U, X.
Now we should dwell on such a moment as the procedure for issuing numbers.
With the exception of special series, license plates are issued to vehicle owners in order. The order of change in the numbers of symbols deserves special attention, since they change according to a system that can hardly be called easy and understandable. So, when issuing subsequent numbers:
- Most often, the 3rd digit is changed (for example, after A688BC, the next car will be issued a license plate A689BC);
- The second most frequent replacement is the 2nd digit of the number (for example, after A689BC, the next car will be given a license plate A690BC);
- The third most frequent replacement is the 3rd digit of the number (for example, after A699BC, the next car will be given a license plate A700BC);
- The fourth most frequent replacement is the 1st letter (for example, after A688BC, the next car will be given a license plate B688BC);
- The fifth most frequent replacement is the 3rd letter (for example, after A688BC, the next car will be given a license plate B688BE);
- The last, sixth in frequency of replacement is the 2nd letter (for example, after A688BC, the next car will be given a license plate B688CC).
The above numerical and alphabetic numbering determines the numbering of vehicles within a certain region. For those who like specific numbers, we inform you that within one region it is possible to issue license plates of one code, the total number of which will not exceed 1,726,272 license plates.
After the specified limit is exhausted, the number of the region of Russia, which is located on the right side of each registration number, is changed. After carrying out such a procedure, numbers within a particular region begin to be issued from the beginning.
At the same time, in the Russian Federation, each subject is assigned a separate code, and in regions with very large quantity registered cars - several codes at once.

3-digit region codes that start with the number "2"

All used numbers are registered. Each administrative region has its own number, common to all cars registered in this region. The total number of sets of license plates that can be produced for each subject of Russia is determined by GOST and is 1 million 726 thousand 272 (= 12?? Initially, only numbers from 01 before 89 , according to the number of regions of the Russian Federation as of January 1, 1993. However, the number of registered cars is increasing every year, and there is a shortage of license plates with valid combinations. For this reason, in a number of subjects of Russia, additional code designations have been introduced that can be used on signs; first, the issuance of region codes from the ninth decade began ( 9x) (except code 92), and then moved on to three-digit region codes. Three or more region codes are used by Moscow (codes 77, 99, 97, 177, 199, 197, 777), Moscow Region (50, 90, 150, 190, 750), Krasnoyarsk Territory (24, 84, 88, 124), St. Petersburg (78, 98, 178), Krasnodar Territory (23, 93, 123), Perm Territory (59, 81, 159) and Sverdlovsk Region (66, 96, 196), while Krasnoyarsk and Perm Territories received codes for 8 "inherited" from other constituent entities of the federation included in their composition. 19 entities use two area codes. What are the numbers of Russian regions on cars for?
The numbers of the regions of Russia on the license plates of the cars are a kind of registration of the car. Each subject of the federation has its own code. All this indicates an increase in the number of vehicles in the region. In this regard, Moscow remains the leader, which, in addition to code 77, has already been assigned additional code signs: 97, 99, 177, 197, 199, 777. According to preliminary data, by 2020, the number of cars registered in Moscow may exceed 10 million units. . As for St. Petersburg, there are three codes: 78, 98 and 178.
The reason for making changes to the table can also be changes in the structure of the federation subjects themselves.
To date, the last region to have been assigned new code became the Republic of Crimea. The automobile code of Crimea is 82 (in the future it is planned to issue codes with numbers 182 and 782), and the code of the city of Sevastopol is 92 (in the future - 192 and 792).
