Huawei had experience creating wearable devices even before release Huawei Watch. The first TalkBand B1 fitness bracelet went on sale more than a year ago, and the smartwatch itself was first shown at the beginning of 2015 at the MWC exhibition in Barcelona. Since then, Huawei has managed to demonstrate its watches at several more exhibitions, including IFA 2015, but the start of sales dates were constantly shifted, and as a result, the new accessory became available to users only recently, at the end of the year. Was Huawei Watch worth such a long wait and how interesting is this watch compared to its competitors? Let's see together.

Design, body materials

The highlight of Huawei Watch is its design. Even during the first demonstrations of the watch, and even earlier, when official renderings first appeared, it was the appearance of the Huawei Watch that struck us in the first place. What did the company do to achieve this effect? Nothing special, just took the design of a typical classic watch and used it. It turned out well, first of all, because none of the competitors had ever done this before. Watches from Samsung are futuristic, watches from Asus are calm, but a little faceless, Motorola was the closest, but in the first version of Moto 360 everything was spoiled by the cut at the bottom of the screen, which is why the generated image was not in a circle, but with a cutout, and the second generation of watches came out around the same time as the Huawei Watch, when the latter gained some of the attention.

There are three versions of cases for Huawei Watch. Just a steel body, gold painted steel and black painted steel. In gold, the watch bezel has marks along the edge; in black, it is more massive and has indicators inscribed in it. There are also several types of straps - metal block, mesh (metal), smooth leather and textured leather. The watch in a black steel case looks a little more massive due to the large bezel; the steel and gold versions visually seem a little more compact.

The watch case is made of stainless steel (316L), and the screen is covered with sapphire glass, which protects it from scratches and other damage. At the same time, the glass has a good oleophobic coating, and your finger glides over the surface without any problems.

The straps can be changed; their attachment to the case is simple, but at the same time reliable. If you decide to buy the version of Huawei Watch with a block metal strap, keep in mind that to adjust the length of the strap you will need to remove the blocks using improvised tools or in a watch workshop. In this respect, smart watches from Huawei are no different from classic mechanical or quartz watches with similar types of straps.

In terms of looks, the Huawei Watch is the best smartwatch available today if you like classic watches. In terms of execution, this is also a very high level: high-quality stainless steel, sapphire glass, excellent assembly, there is simply nothing to complain about.

Dimensions, weight

The diameter of the Huawei Watch case is 42 millimeters, the thickness is a little more than 11 millimeters. The watch turned out to be universal in size; it will look appropriate on both a thin wrist and a powerful one. This is where the color and type of strap play a more important role. To some extent, the watch can even be called a unisex model; the gold version is suitable for girls, but the weight of more than 130 grams, in my opinion, makes the accessory purely masculine.

Display

The watch is equipped with a round AMOLED screen with a diagonal of 1.4’’ and a resolution of 400x400 pixels. As I noted above, the screen is covered with sapphire glass and has a good oleophobic coating. There is automatic brightness adjustment, as well as manual, where you can select one of ten divisions of the backlight level.

Perhaps due to the use of an AMOLED matrix, the display does not have the most amazing viewing angles, the picture is slightly distorted when tilted, but it is still perfectly readable, so I do not consider this a drawback. Otherwise, AMOLED has only advantages - a huge reserve of brightness, which is enough even to read information from the watch screen on a bright sunny day, a rich picture, which is important for a small screen, and generally balanced characteristics.

Of course, the screens in smartwatches are not yet good enough to make you and those around you feel like you have a real watch on your wrist when choosing any dial. But in the case of Huawei Watch, the combination of a watch-like design and a bright AMOLED display, together with the selection of the right dial, allows you to choose the right dial and get a watch that is almost indistinguishable from a classic one.

Control

Almost all clock control occurs using touch screen. There is also one mechanical key on the case; it is used to turn on silent mode or open the application menu.

Platform, performance

In terms of performance, the Huawei Watch is no different from most other current smartwatches on the market, it uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 platform with a 1.2 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory for storing applications and watch faces, as well as other custom settings. information. I used the watch for a whole month almost every day and during this time I did not notice any problems in terms of speed. Yes, sometimes there are slight delays or lags, but these are isolated cases; in general, Huawei Watch works smoothly and quickly.

Features, working with a smartphone

When buying any smartwatch, you need to understand exactly what you are buying it for. This is incredibly important because the wearables market is still emerging, and many people buy devices simply because they are fashionable or inexpensive. Among my friends there are many who ask me to bring them a Xiaomi Mi Band just to measure their sleep, for example, or even leave it on the shelf at home. WITH smart watch the situation is exactly the same - many people buy this accessory and then don’t understand why they need it. All this results in negative reviews and stories that smartwatches are useless. But that's not true.

In terms of its capabilities, Huawei Watch is a typical smartwatch of the current generation. Android based Wear. Their first “skill” is, in fact, wrist watch, showing time. At the same time, you can choose one of several hundred (basically about 30-40 are available) dials to see not only the time in analog or digital format, but also other data, from the day of the week and weather to news reports and so on. There are various themed watch faces that make the watch look like a terminal from Fallout, a children's toy, and so on. There are a lot of options, and the choice is really large.

Secondly, you can set up vibration notifications here for different clients text messages(Telegram, WhatsApp and so on), vibration for incoming calls, mail, calendar events and so on. That is, use Huawei Watch as a notification system so as not to take your smartphone out of your pocket every time you receive a new letter or someone writes to Telegram.

Third is a sports tracker. The watch “can” count steps taken, distance, approximate number of calories burned and measure heart rate, and, of course, carefully store and sort this information, displaying it later in the form of graphs or diagrams.

The watch runs on Android Wear, is compatible with Android and iOS smartphones, and has a selection of standard applications, as well as the ability to install additional programs. Using Huawei Watch, you can check the weather, read the news, control music playback on your smartphone, and do many other things. There are also various simple toys and utilities available for Android Wear.

Huawei has long established itself as a reliable manufacturer of electronics, including wearables. Huawei has had its own sports bracelets and smartwatches for a long time. And the latter are quite actively updated by the company. And one of latest models— Huawei Watch 2 Sport, which we were able to test. There is a version on the market with SIM card support, but our sample does not have this bonus.

Appearance and equipment

The watch comes in a white, minimalist box with only logos on it. Inside we are immediately greeted by Huawei Watch 2 Sport, and on the side you can find a small box with waste paper and charger. At first glance, the watch seemed very massive and even resembled the Gear S3 from Samsung. Therefore, predicting your desire to twist the bezel, I consider it necessary to say that this will not be possible. Generally, appearance smart accessory leaves a pleasant impression. Yes, compared to the first generation, they acquired a more sporty look (including the classic version), but at the same time, the watches did not stop looking good. In addition, they are quite versatile and can be combined with almost any style of clothing. Perhaps this watch would not be entirely appropriate with a classic suit.

Despite the plastic the device is made of, it does not look cheap. In addition, the bezel itself is made of ceramic and protrudes slightly above the screen, which in theory should protect it from damage and scratches. The inner surface is made of metal with a plastic insert in the middle. It contains heart rate sensors and magnetic contacts for charging.

I would especially like to note the rubber strap. Although it is not particularly flexible, it feels pleasant on the hand and does not slip. If desired, you can easily change it to another. Despite the external massiveness of the watch and the stated weight of 40 g, there is no discomfort when constantly worn. Protection from water and dust is declared according to the IP68 standard, which allows you to even swim with the watch in the pool.

Screen

Despite, frankly, not a record ratio of screen size to body size, it can be attributed to the advantages of Huawei Watch 2 Sport. It is a 1.2-inch circular AMOLED display with a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels. There are no complaints about the quality of the displayed image - individual pixels when normal use not visible. In addition, I was pleased with the Always-on display - after a few seconds of inactivity, any selected dial becomes black and minimalistic, consuming less energy. Moreover, each watchface has an individual economical mode. The only drawback of the screen is that it lacks maximum brightness, so you will have to peer under direct sunlight.

Software

The device runs on Android 8.0 paired with the Wear OS application. All control, for the most part, is carried out by swiping. There are two mechanical buttons: the top one is responsible for calling the main menu and returning to the main screen, the bottom one is for quick access to the training regimen. The interface cannot be called smooth and fast - sometimes small jerks are possible, but this does not cause outright inconvenience. Under heavy loads, applications can crash, fortunately, this did not happen often. As for heating, the watch became noticeably warm only once in a couple of weeks of use. This happened while working with Google Maps.

As befits a sports smartwatch, Huawei Watch 2 Sport implements some useful features for lovers of an active lifestyle - different types workouts, during which the clock shows when the heart rate enters the anaerobic stage. Workout reports are saved in the proprietary Huawei Health application. In the “Monitoring” menu item, you can track your daily activity, view your body mass index and find out the rate of oxygen consumption during a high-intensity workout. If the user is not interested in the sports functions of the watch, then you can limit yourself to only the Wear OS application. The proprietary Huawei Wear application contains virtually no functionality, and Huawei Health provides only information about training and activity.

As for the connection with the smartphone, it is stable and there were practically no disconnections. So, the user can safely walk around the apartment or office without fear of missing an important call or message. The ability to switch music while playing a track on a smartphone is conveniently implemented - the dial replaces the player screen, and the time remains on it. The watch also has built-in storage where you can save music if you wish. The built-in speaker is not the most best quality, but the vibration is pleasant and its intensity can be adjusted.
In addition, the watch is capable of tracking sleep phases, although there is no smart alarm clock out of the box. You can add this feature using a third-party application.

Autonomy

Like all smartwatches of this class, Huawei Watch 2 does not last long on a single charge. With average usage, with Always On turned on and constant heart rate measurement, the watch will last the day. If you disable all these features, you will add another half a day battery life.

Results

Huawei Watch 2 is a pleasant and high-quality device that meets the needs of the modern user with necessary set sensors and sensors. Probably the main drawback of the watch is its price, which officially starts at 20,000 rubles. The same Samsung Gear S3 for the same money looks a little preferable. Also, the disadvantages include the design, which not everyone will like due to its thickness and massiveness. But this is a matter of taste. Otherwise, the watch is an excellent companion for Android smartphones, and the best smartphone companion from Huawei.

Read the review of the Huawei Watch smart watch from the Chinese manufacturer on Android platform Wear with impeccable design, but a very high price.

Despite the fact that Huawei has released many beautiful smartphones with high technical characteristics, which are generally in demand, the Chinese manufacturer is still trying to make its brand more recognizable outside of China.

The first attempts to enter the market of wrist devices turned out to be outright failures - take the same TalkBand fitness bracelet. Therefore, we were pleasantly surprised when it turned out that the gadget, introduced in early 2015, looks like jewelry on the platforms.

However, a fair amount of time has passed since the presentation, so it’s a fair question: does the Huawei Watch live up to all the pre-launch hype? We invite readers to read the article to the end to find out the answer to this question.

Design and build quality of Huawei Watch

"Stuffing" and battery life

Waterproof Huawei Watch is equipped with Qualcomm processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz and 512 MB of RAM. Like all smartwatches on the Android Wear platform, it has 4 GB of internal memory. The watch's protection class is IP67. It tells us that the watch is not afraid of dust and can withstand immersion in water up to a depth of 1 m for an hour.

Other indicators are not particularly important: the processor frequency is not yet at the level to talk about high speed, and the amount of RAM does not affect the performance of the smartwatch. Especially if we're talking about about the slow platform that is Android Wear at the moment.

According to official data, the Huawei battery can last 1.5 days, we agree here that the figure is true. We use the device for a week, with the display brightness set to maximum. In addition, everyone is involved available connections on the watch, and during this time we recharged the device five times.

When charging, it is necessary that the contacts on the watch completely coincide with the contacts on the charging block. Because of this, it happens that the device sits idle on the charging puck for nothing. Although, if connected successfully, charging occurs quite quickly: the device is fully charged within one hour.

Huawei has already had experience developing smartwatches in the past. The first model was the TalkBand B1 fitness tracker, which went on sale in early 2015. A lot of time has passed since that moment. The company managed to present its advanced development under the name Huawei Watch at several more exhibitions, but the start of sales was constantly postponed, and as a result, the new product appeared on the world market only at the end of 2015. Is the watch worth the money and such a long wait? How are they different from their competitors? Let's take a look at this in this review.

Design, materials of the Huawei Watch case

Preparing Huawei Watch classic review We would like to pay special attention to the appearance, which turned out simply amazing. The watches began to surprise with their design even at the first presentation, which already promised them great success. But what lengths did the manufacturer go to achieve this effect? Essentially he didn't do anything special. The design of a standard classic watch was adopted as a basis, which no manufacturer had previously resorted to.

So, if Samsung watches look futuristic, Asus is too discreet, Motorola came closest, but the impression is spoiled by the cut at the bottom of the dial, which is why the picture had a cutout. The Huawei Watch active review will not reveal all the capabilities of the watch, because it is simply impossible to fit them into one article.

There are three versions of cases on sale: classic steel, gold-painted steel, and a black version. The straps are presented in no less variety: metal, mesh, made of smooth or futuristic leather.

The watch case is made of stainless steel, and a sapphire glass coating is provided to protect the display. It prevents scratches and other damage. The oleophobic coating is quite high quality; the finger glides smoothly over the surface, but does not leave fingerprints.

Straps can be purchased separately. They are securely and easily fixed to the body. If your preference is for the version with a metal strap, you may need to remove some blocks to adjust to your hand size. This can be done with improvised tools or by contacting the nearest workshop. In this regard, the huawei watch review is no different from the classic one.

In terms of design, the watch is undoubtedly the best at the time of writing this review. They are suitable for all connoisseurs of classic watches. Workmanship on top level, with all the desire there is nothing to complain about.

Dimensions and weight of Huawei Watch

The thickness of the case is 11 mm, and its diameter is 42 mm. The watch is universal in size. They will look great on both narrow and fairly wide wrists. In this case, the color and type of strap play a huge role. To a certain extent, the Huawei Watch smart watch can be considered a unisex model. The version with a golden tint is good for girls, but the weight of 130 grams makes them more masculine.

Huawei Watch display

The screen displays rich colors, because it is built using AMOLED technology. At 400x400 resolution, a 1.4-inch diagonal is used. For comfortable use, we recommend activating automatic brightness adjustment, which behaves correctly under any lighting conditions. Manual adjustment allows you to set 1 of 10 brightness modes. Composing Huawei Watch mobile review review We examined the display in detail and did not find any shortcomings.

The only thing is that if you wish, you can find fault with the viewing angles, but everyday use you don't notice it. Moreover, the colors are distorted slightly, the data retains its readability. Otherwise, the screen is simply amazing - a great amount of brightness, rich images and excellent detail. Of course, the screens of modern smart watches still have something to strive for, because they are not difficult to distinguish from classic watches, but this case rather acts as an exception. The combination of a classic design with a bright screen and a well-chosen dial brings it as close as possible to a standard mechanical watch.

Control

While reviewing the Huawei Watch smartwatch, we tried to focus on the device control features. Management occurs through touch display, and on the case itself there is only a single key. It activates silent mode and opens the application menu.

Specifications

Huawei Watch features are similar to most other smartwatch models. The heart is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip with an operating frequency of 1.2 GHz. The picture is complemented by 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory, which can be used to store programs and watch faces. The interface works quickly; during the entire testing period, no bugs or system freezes were found. The manufacturer conducted good job, because not many smartwatch models can now boast of a smooth interface.

Pairing Huawei Watch with a smartphone

When purchasing any smartwatch, you need to consider the purpose of its purchase. This important point, because the wearable electronics market is at the stage of formation and many choose devices for themselves in pursuit of fashion and affordable cost. Many people are faced with a situation where, soon after purchasing a watch, they find it unnecessary. As a result, the Internet is already crowded negative reviews and narratives about the uselessness of smart watches. But this is a mistaken opinion. The review of the Huawei Watch did not open up any fundamentally new possibilities; everything here is typical for the Android Wear OS.

The main function remains the time display, with which there are no problems. There are already several hundred different dials available, of which about 40 are preset by the manufacturer. They display not only time in analogue or digital form, but also various data, such as the day of the week, missed notifications, current news and much more, depending on your preferences. There are incredibly many options, everyone will find something of their own.

The next function of the watch will be the ability to vibrate alerts about the receipt of text notifications and calls to the phone. This greatly simplifies life, because you don’t have to constantly take the device out of your pocket.

Thirdly, this is a good sports tracker that can count the number of steps taken, distance, approximate number of calories burned, and also measure pulse. Of course, all data is stored on the Huawei Watch and displayed in the form of convenient graphs.

The watch runs on Android Wear OS. Connection is possible to devices on Android and iOS. You can use factory applications and install your own, further increasing the functionality. With the help of your watch you will always be aware of the latest news, know the weather and be able to control many functions of your phone. In addition, there are simple games and useful programs.

Autonomy

In the review of the Huawei Watch smartwatch, we tested the operating time of the gadget with a 300 mAh battery. On average full charge They last up to 2 days of use, but with a lot of activity they barely survive until the evening of the first day. But this is with a constantly active display and pairing with a smartphone. You would expect more autonomy from a watch of this level, but this problem remains relevant for most modern models.

Conclusion

The Huawei Watch classic version is sold in an unpainted steel case in combination with a metal strap. For this version the manufacturer requests 30,000 rubles. But the Active version will cost a little more - 38,000 rubles. It is distinguished by a stylish strap made of metal blocks of a silver tone and a black case of the watch itself. In our opinion, the price is very high, but this is perhaps the only significant drawback. The design turned out great, but it’s a matter of everyone’s taste, maybe someone won’t like them. The smart watch is distinguished by excellent build quality, an original appearance made in the style of a classic watch, a smooth interface and a round screen. We consider Huawei Watch one of the best solutions on Android Wear OS.

Smartwatch Huawei Watch - review

All kinds of “smart” watches are my topic: I wear them myself, and I also constantly study all sorts of new models. I first saw a watch from Huawei in March of this year: first they were presented at a presentation, and then I had the opportunity to hold a sample in my hands at the company’s closed stand. The watches were not demonstrated at the main stand, and the company said that they would not appear in the near future: most likely, closer to the end of the year. And so it happened: the watches appeared in stores only around November-December. And over the time since March, many interesting options from competitors have entered the market. At the time of the presentation of watches from Huawei, they looked the most stylish of all - at least, that’s the impression I got when I held this model in my hands: a steel case and mesh steel strap. Next to it, the LG G Watch R, looking like plastic (although it also has a metal body), looked like a toy for geeks, and Huawei Watch looked like a pretty decent watch, and not a geek craft.

At the same exhibition, LG showed its LG Watch Urbane in a metal case, and this watch was already in stores by summer. Well, let's not forget about the Motorola Moto 360 - this, as far as I remember, was the first round watch in a steel case. (Although I really didn’t like the watch from Motorola due to a couple of its more than strange engineering solutions.) And the Huawei Watch never came out and didn’t come out. Meanwhile, users were promised three watch case options and three strap/bracelet options. Cases: “gold” (metal painted gold), steel, black. Straps/Bracelets: Solid metal, mesh metal and leather (brown and black).

Interestingly, there is still no gold version on the market. In Europe they sell steel ones with three types of straps and black ones with two types (massive steel and leather), in Russia they are generally presented only with a steel version with a leather strap and a black version with a massive steel bracelet. The price of these watches, to put it mildly, is at least surprising . Because a steel case with a leather strap in Russia sells for 29,900 rubles (in Europe - for €380, that is, for the same money). At the same time, almost exactly the same in appearance, operating system, and capabilities, the LG Watch Urbane in Russia is sold for 19,989 rubles. Already a third cheaper! The Russian representative office of Huawei kindly provided me with an option with a steel case and a massive steel bracelet to study, so let’s see whether this watch is worth that kind of money or not. Huawei Watch Classic is a “smart” watch in a stainless steel case with steel bracelet. Specifications: Display- 1.4", 400x400, AMOLED, sapphire glass, oleophobic coating
CPU- Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 1.2 GHz
operating system- Android Wear 5.1.1
RAM- 512 MB
Flash memory- 4 GB
Wireless communication- Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1
Battery- 300 mAh
Dimensions- 42 x 11 mm
Weight- 134 grams (with bracelet)
Sensors- accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate monitor
Protection- IP67 (dust- and moisture-proof, short-term immersion up to 1 meter)
Price in Moscow- approximately 30 thousand rubles (in Europe the same - €380) We will compare the characteristics with the main competitor - LG Watch Urbane. Those have a slightly smaller display (1.3"), a larger battery capacity (410 mAh), half the weight (!) and a third less price. The rest of the characteristics are exactly the same. Scope of delivery As usual for top gadgets from Huawei, the packaging is solid and stylish.
The inside is absolutely beautiful: a Huawei Watch is lounging on a soft sofa surrounded by a luxurious interior. Cool packaging. However, it’s not the packaging that really interests us. But it’s nice to hold one in your hands. And it looks more than solid as a gift. The delivery set is expectedly simple: USB-microUSB cable, power adapter, cradle.
Appearance and features Everything is so steely and brutal. Metal and glass. The quality of materials and finishing is very good. The control button is located on the right side, not strictly to the right, but closer to the top of the dial.

Side view.

Bottom cover: in the center - heart rate sensor, on the side - contacts for connecting to the cradle (charging, access from a computer).

The cradle here was done, in my opinion, rather poorly. It is round, without sides, with a magnet and protruding contacts. In theory, when you put your watch on this cradle maternal contacts The watch cases must find the masculine protruding contacts of the cradle and merge with them in ecstasy. But in practice this happens infrequently: you need to watch very carefully so that the contacts find each other (there are no sides) and the watch starts charging.

This annoyed me. It is not clear why it was necessary to pervert it so much. Did you want to do it elegantly, like Apple laptops, where the power adapter is magnetic? Well, Apple has worked this out down to the smallest detail - it’s impossible to miss. But here it’s easy. In the first couple of days, my watch took half a day to charge, as I missed it all the time. Then I kind of got the hang of it, but it’s still very inconvenient because you have to carefully monitor it all the time. And still, during charging, the slightest shake of the table could cause the watch to fly off its contacts. Madhouse. Compare with the cradle from LG. It has the appropriate sides, with the help of which the watch fits onto the contact group in a completely unambiguous, easy and simple manner. And here it’s even impossible to confuse the sides, because the sides are different in size. The developers did not show off and did everything wisely: it is very convenient to use.
Well, let’s compare these watches by design. Here it must be said that watches from Huawei look more stylish. However this model with a massive metal bracelet, it weighs like a brick - as much as 134 grams. This weight seems too much to me, I can’t wear a watch like this. But these are my personal preferences, there are people who like weighty watches. Moreover, Huawei has two more strap options: lightweight metal and leather.
Here is the clock turned on.
What is the obvious advantage of the Huawei Watch - its bracelet is attached to the body in a completely standard way. That is, if you want to use any other watch bracelet, you can easily replace it yourself. This number will not work with the LG Watch Urbane; the bracelet is sealed tightly there. Device operation Actually, there’s not much to say about the operation of the device. Standard Android Wear is installed here, which works as expected: Huawei, unlike Motorola, did not distort the options in its own way or disable them altogether. Therefore, if the “Do not turn off the display” option is enabled, it does not turn off at all. that time (about 15-20 minutes). If nothing happens to the watch for 15-20 minutes (that is, it just lies on the surface), then the display turns off - to save money. LG Watch does exactly the same thing. Huawei has made several of its own dials, but this dial is set by default.

It looks very good, but it has a completely unattractive sleep mode, so I didn't like it.

I like Chronos Gold and Chaiman Gold from LG so much (as far as I understand, they cannot be installed in other smartphones, that I only use them - despite the fact that I have bought a couple of dozen dials with various settings. The Huawei Watch pulse is measured like this the same as other smartwatches with a similar sensor: on a dry hand they measure more or less normally, on a sweaty hand (during sports) they are very bad. (About the work of the corresponding Android versions Wear can be read in my review of LG Watch Urbane, because here - almost everything is the same.) Battery life Here, compared to the LG Watch Urbane, the battery is a quarter less capacious (although the body is larger and heavier) and the display is slightly larger. Battery life in active mode (connecting to a smartphone, receiving notifications), but with the option to turn on the screen when shaking your hand turned off (it really eats up the battery) it took two days. Just like the LG Watch Urbane. With the shaking mode turned on, it takes about a day and a half. But they charge in about 30-40 minutes at a current of 0.3-0.4 A. But you need to charge from them your own (or similar) adapter, because when connecting the cradle to the computer port USB charging goes much slower. Observations during operation and conclusions During the testing period, the watch worked reliably, there are no complaints here. In some reviews I came across a mention of automatic brightness adjustment, which surprised me greatly, since there is no automatic adjustment here: neither a sensor nor a corresponding setting in the options. But, in fact, smart watches hardly need auto-adjustment - their range of settings is quite narrow. This watch has a good maximum brightness, but in the sun this does not help: the screen in ambient mode “blinds” a lot, like competitors’ watches. They haven't overcome this issue yet. If you enable active mode, then something becomes visible on the display, but it is also difficult to see something. However, I compared this watch with the LG Watch Urban - the Huawei Watch has a slightly better image in direct sunlight. Developers and reviewers especially emphasize the fact that the display here is covered with sapphire glass. And I’ll tell you this: what the hell is a sapphire crystal for such a watch, especially if it increases its price by 150 dollars?!! Why does a $250 watch need sapphire crystal? This is not "Audemar Piguet" for $5 thousand? To prevent the glass from scratching? So my LG Watch Urban, which I use in the tail and mane, has not yet had a single scratch. Maybe this is done so that the watch can live normally for 5-10 years? So, firstly, the mechanism will die in a maximum of a year or two, and secondly, who will wear such a watch for 5-10 years? An ordinary user changes their smart watch at least once a year, because more interesting and advanced models are coming out all the time. And all sorts of geeks like me change their watches every 3-6 months. Well, why, pray tell, do we need sapphire glass, which increases the cost by a third, because there is simply nothing else to increase the price by that much?!! So this is actually not a good idea in my opinion. There is no balance in such a decision. Now let's list the pros and cons of this gadget. Pros:

good design; three body options; three strap/bracelet options; the ability to install any strap/bracelet; sapphire glass (not to mention the price); beautiful packaging (for gifts, for example); normal operation of Android Wear.
Cons:
the price is one third higher than its closest competitors; too much weight; entered the market late and not all models are there yet; extremely inconvenient cradle (when used with a bracelet).
Draw your own conclusions. If you choose the option with a leather strap or a light metal bracelet, the watch will not be too heavy, but will look more stylish than the same LG Watch Urbane. However, such a watch, by the way, will cost 35 thousand rubles (€450), which, in my opinion, is a completely absurd price. Well, given the terribly inconvenient cradle, in my case the question doesn’t even arise: should I change my LG G Watch Urbane to a Huawei Watch or not. I'll make do for now. Although I like the design of Huawei Watch better. Well, one last thing. Now less famous Chinese companies are entering the market for such watches. They offer decent smartphones with really good characteristics for 12-15 thousand (I have a lot of reviews), and their “smart” watches come with quite normal characteristics. Some time ago, there were all sorts of cheap “smart” watches on the Chinese market (there are still plenty of them), which, of course, there was no point in buying - they used absolutely terrible matrices and their own shells. But now there are already watches with the characteristics of the same flagships from LG, Lenovo, Huawei, but they cost the same 11-14 thousand rubles, and not 20 thousand, and especially not 30 thousand. For example, the same Elephone Smart Watch. (They are now entering the market and accepting pre-orders.)

On Android Wear, they look stylish, 1.5" 320x320 display, MTK2601 chip, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB memory, 400 mAh battery, weigh 60 grams. Price - 8 thousand rubles. 8 thousand, Petya! Not 20, not 30 thousand! Yes, of course, they will still need to be tested. But, looking at their smartphones, I am almost sure that if not now, then very soon there will be quite decent “smart” watches on the market at such prices. Mlais offers something very similar for the same money, and other manufacturers offer something similar.

So, “smart” watches for 30 thousand or more are, in my opinion, a complete utopia. Competition in this sector, as with smartphones, will be fierce. Yes, in fact, it’s already there. Update: It turns out that the strap on the LG G Watch Urbane can also be replaced independently or in a workshop. It's not very easy, but it can be done - here's the video: Upd2: I changed the strap of this watch to a simple leather one. It immediately became much better: the watch itself is not heavy, with a simple leather strap it fits perfectly on the hand - here it is next to the LG G Watch Urbane.

Well, it turned out that with such a strap, magnetic cradle charging works quite normally: since nothing interferes with the watch case, it sits on the cradle without problems and does not fly off during charging. That is, my complaints relate to the option when the watch is used with a bracelet (especially a massive one), and when the watch is with a strap, everything is in order with the cradle.
