Today we will take a closer look step by step instructions How to refill a Brother TN-1075 cartridge with your own hands for beginners, according to which you can quickly and easily restore the functionality of your laser printer.

Looking ahead, we note that in this material we will not consider the process of assembling and disassembling the dosing blade for subsequent cleaning. Because if you use a high-quality toner, the need for this procedure may arise only after 7-10 cycles.

Note! Refilling a Brother TN-1075 cartridge at the MosToner service center with a free visit by a technician within the Moscow Ring Road will cost only .

Also, if you use low-quality toner and often clean the waste ink tank on the TN-1075 cartridge, then even the correct installation of the dispensing blade will not protect you from streaking during printing over time.

By high-quality toner we mean such brands of coloring powder as TOMOEGAWA, Mitsubishi and other brands.

Tools and Supplies

To refill the Brother TN-1075 cartridge we need tools and consumables, among which:

  1. 50-60 g compatible toner(we recommend TOMOEGawa or Mitsubishi coloring powder);
  2. knife, flat screwdriver or piece of metal plate to pry off the lid of the toner bin;
  3. shaped screwdriver;
  4. toner vacuum cleaner* or miniature brush to remove any remaining toner, but if refilling is done repeatedly using a specific brand of ink powder, then thorough cleaning may not be necessary.

*Carefully! A household vacuum cleaner is not suitable for cleaning the toner bin, since it does not have a complex filtration system that can prevent the spraying of fine particles that are toxic to the human body.

These instructions are intended for self-refilling cartridges Brother LC970 inkjet printers Brother DCP-135C,150C,153C,157C and inkjet multifunctional devices MFC-235C, 260C, and also ink cartridges BrotherLC1000 for printers Brother DCP-130C, 330C, 540CN, 750CW, MFC-240C.

For refueling you will need:

  • Compatible color aqueous ink with this printer model Brother RDM HP 28/49/57 (M,Y.C) or Brother RDM HP 27/56 Black pigment
  • 5-10 ml syringe
  • syringe needle
  • paper napkins or towels

Step 1

Let's get ready for refueling.

Take a syringe and check if it has enough diameter to fit into the vent hole. Break off the needle by hand or with wire cutters; you need the plastic part of the needle.

Before refilling the Brother LC970 cartridge, we will remove any remaining original Brother yellow ink from it and compare it with compatible yellow ones. ink RDM Brother Yellow.

How artists of different eras painstakingly selected colors and shades to achieve the greatest expressiveness and realism. Likewise, modern designers have created thousands of gradient tables and palettes, giving great value color nuances.

In many ways, color quality depends on the printer model, paper quality, and, of course, ink. Famous manufacturers original cartridges insist on using only their products, denying the refilling of cartridges with other analogues.

We've written a lot about the merits of inks like RDM. Let's conduct an experiment and see in practice how great the differences are between these inks and the original ones, and how they affect the print quality.

So, let's take regular yellow ink from the brother cartridge and alternative ink of the same color RDM. When put into a syringe, both options look equally saturated and transparent, the color is bright. When testing the ink on paper, the RDMs appear slightly darker.

Consequently, when printing, the color palette is more saturated. But that doesn't mean the images will be muddy or dark. In general, the entire range of colors in terms of richness, gradient and lightness meets all color requirements and designer whims. In terms of the speed of absorption and drying of ink on paper, the results were the same.

Step 2

Fill the syringe with ink of the required color and insert it into the ventilation hole, at the same time, the plastic part of the needle must be firmly inserted into the outlet hole.

Step 3

Smoothly press the piston; if the ink flows slowly, check whether the syringe itself is inserted all the way, as well as the plastic part of the needle in the outlet hole.

Step 4

Install the cartridge into the printer and do a nozzle test.

On the eve of the new year 2015, a Japanese company Brother introduced to the world a series of monochrome printers with functionality that can satisfy the printing needs of any user - from the modest home to the demanding corporate. The line was presented by devices Brother HL-L2300D, L2340DW, L2360DNR, L2365DWR; DCP-L2500DR, L2520D, DCP-L2540DNR, L2560DWR; MFC-L2700DWR, L2720DWR, L2740DWR.

Toner cartridges used in the new line are traditionally divided into standard (1200 pages) and enlarged (2600 pages). “Starter” cartridges can be filled with 700 and 1200 print pages (with 5% toner coverage of an A4 print), depending on the device model.

To refill the “starter” cartridge, in addition to toner, you will also need a reset flag (to reset the printer counter). We will be using a kit consisting of a toner can, a flag with a spring, and a cap for the toner can. The reset flag is only needed for the starter cartridge. In the future, you will only need a can of toner for refilling.

So let's get started.
Disassembling the cartridge begins with the side cover. Unscrew the screw that secures the side cover on the gear side.

Remove the side cover.

Under the cover we will see two white gears. We remove them one by one, freeing access to the toner hopper plug.

The hopper plug is sealed quite tightly. If you do not uncork it carefully, you can easily tear off the edges. Therefore, we open the plug slowly, prying at the edges with the flat slot of a screwdriver.

We pour out all the toner remaining in the hopper, and, if you have a toner vacuum cleaner, thoroughly vacuum the hopper from the inside. We are often asked - why throw out the remaining toner, why can’t you just add a new portion and continue printing? The answer is obvious: Brother cartridges do not have a separate compartment for collecting waste toner; All remaining toner after printing is returned to the same hopper, from which it again enters the printing path. Over the entire operating cycle of the cartridge, not only used toner accumulates in the hopper, but also paper dust, which, mixed with toner, forms dirt that is unsuitable for printing. Therefore, don’t be lazy and thoroughly clean the hopper of old toner. If you add a portion of new toner to an uncleaned cartridge, the result will be dirty printing and false assumptions about poor toner quality.

Let's return to disassembling the cartridge. We release the plug from the screw:

One by one remove the plug, the large white gear, then the small white gears:

We remove the lock washer of the developer roller (which is often called the magnetic shaft, although it is not magnetic by definition):

On the opposite side of the cartridge you need to remove the black bushing. It is secured with a screw from the outside

and has two toothed retainers, which we will carefully bend to remove the bushing:

The bushing consists of two parts that do not need to be separated. It will be better if we remove it “assembled”:

Now let's return to the guide sleeve on the side of the cartridge plug. It also has two toothed retainers that need to be taken into account when removing the bushing.

Now you can remove the developer roller from its seat. Immediately below the roller there is a dosing blade, which is secured with two screws at the edges. Unscrew these screws:

So we got to the niche of the toner bin. Inside the niche there is a foam toner supply roller. Carefully clean the dispenser roller of toner residues using a toner vacuum cleaner:

We draw your attention to the foam rubber seal around the perimeter. The fact is that it is not secured by anything, not glued to the body, and therefore we try to vacuum clean it so as not to pull it inside the vacuum cleaner:

We return the cleaned dispensing blade to its place and fix it with screws along the edges. We also return the cleaned magnetic shaft to its place.

We install the guide sleeve, fix the developer-roller axis with a locking ring:

Lubricate the opposite end of the shaft axis with conductive grease. As always, we apply a little lubricant, without excess. Install the bushing and tighten the fixing screw:

Now we can refill the cartridge with toner. We use 100 gram toner produced by Static Contr o l Components with code B 2240-100 B - OS . This toner is sufficient to print 2600 pages (according to ISO/IEC 19798 standard).

After refilling the cartridge, tightly seal the hopper cap. Then install the white gears one by one. We install the gear tooth as shown in the photo:

We install the second gear and the reset flag on top. You will now see that the white gear tooth is located next to the inner tooth of the reset flag.

All that remains is to install the spring and cover the gears with the side cover. Pay attention to the correct starting position of the counter reset flag.

The cartridge is ready.

Brother TN-2090 cartridges are very easy to use: they are easy to disassemble, and after refilling you do not need to check the toner reset box, as with many other cartridges. The process of refilling such a cartridge consists of three stages: disassembling, refilling and assembling the cartridge.

Attention! If something is not clear to you, then in this case you can watch the videos at the end of this article.

First you need to unscrew the 2 screws and after that you need to remove the side cover.

Then remove the gears. Below you can see 2 gear options. On the left are the gears of a regular cartridge. On the right are the starter cartridge gears.

Now our task is to unscrew the screw that secures the developing shaft sleeve, as shown in the photo below.

The next step is we need to remove the bushing. We cling to the bushing with a screwdriver and carefully move it away. You might be worried if you're doing this for the first time, but don't be - these mechanisms are easy to assemble and disassemble, so you can easily return everything to its original state.

Now, using a screwdriver or other tool, we need to move the development shaft latch and rotate it 90 degrees.

It should look like this:

Now you need to remove the development roller itself.

Now we need to unscrew the two fasteners (screws) as shown in the photo below.

After this, you need to pry off the dosing blade of the cartridge with a flat screwdriver, and then dismantle it.

After this we will have access to the toner. We need to completely get rid of its remnants. The best way to do this is with a vacuum cleaner or you can blow out the toner. We also need to clean the particles that are under the transfer roller film.

Now you need to clean the metering blade and transfer roller. This can be done with a dry cloth or other material, such as a napkin. For better results, the blade can be wiped with isopropyl alcohol.

Refueling

Only now you can go directly to refueling. Carefully add 50 grams of toner. Number 50 gr. Suitable for HL-2030/2040/2070.

Reassembly

The first step is to secure the dosing blade with screws on both sides:

Then you need to wipe the transfer shaft bushings with alcohol, as well as the places where they come into contact with the shaft itself. You also need to apply a conductive lubricant to surfaces that rub during printer operation. We put the developer shaft in place.

The white latch, which we unscrewed 90 degrees during disassembly, must be turned to its original position - turn it 90 degrees.

We put the transfer shaft bushing in place.

And secure it with a screw.

We install the gears in their places. Afterwards, the mechanism needs to be checked: if all the stars spin freely, then everything is working properly.

Turn the indicated gear as shown in the figure.

The final stage: installing the reset lever. It is very important to note that the latter should not engage!

Replace the side cover and fasten it with screws.

Ready! The cartridge has been successfully refilled. If you refilled the starter cartridge, then there is no reset lever and therefore the printer will display a message saying that there is no toner. In this case, there are 2 options: do a manual reset or buy a side cover with a lever and replace it.

Work should be carried out with gloves using special equipment.

The entire cartridge is divided into 2 parts: the drum cartridge and the toner cartridge. We will need a toner cartridge (hereinafter simply a cartridge).

At the end of the cartridge there is a plug secured with a seal. Carefully remove the seal using a flat-blade screwdriver, then use the same screwdriver to open the plug.

Thoroughly clean the inside of the cartridge with a special vacuum cleaner. If you don’t have a vacuum cleaner, you can gently shake the contents over a bag or trash can, tapping the cartridge over the entire surface. After cleaning, pour Brother TN-1075 toner (approximately 60-70g) into the hole and close the plug.

For correct operation cartridge, it is recommended to install the gear “flag” for resetting printed pages. This is necessary in order to avoid the appearance of a message on the display about the toner running out or replacing the cartridge.

In order to check the box, you need to remove the cover on the opposite end of the cartridge. Unscrew the 2 mounting screws and press out the 2 latches using a flat-blade screwdriver. There is a “foot” on the “flag”; the gear must be placed on the free pin so that the “foot” fits into a special groove. After the gear is on the pin and the “claw” is in the groove, the gear must be rotated clockwise until it clicks (the click means that the “claw” has engaged with the adjacent gear). Replace the cover. Make sure the lid is latched and level. Secure it with two screws. Repeat these steps if the printer still shows toner or replacement messages. There is a slight difference between the TN-1095 cartridge and the TN-1075: the TN-1095 has a slightly larger flag in diameter.

Attention! It is recommended to carry out these steps after cleaning the cartridge, but before refilling with toner! If on magnetic shaft(the black roller is located from edge to edge) if “no toner” stripes are visible, then you should clean the dispensing blade (don’t be alarmed by the name, it is not sharp, this is a formality, because it cleans excess toner from the magnetic roller). First you need to unscrew the 2 screws that secure the blade. Using a flat-blade screwdriver, pry either edge of the blade where the screw was located and pull it towards you. Do the same on the other side. Once you have separated the blade from the cartridge, you can begin cleaning. It is best to clean off “burnt-on” toner with an old and unnecessary plastic card; an unnecessary guitar pick will also work. Using light movements with a minimum of applied force (the blade is easily deformed, if it bends, printing defects will appear) scrape off the “burnt” toner. Residual toner can be wiped off with a cloth or soft paper towel. Now the blade needs to be placed back. The blade itself must be inserted into the space between the foam pad and the magnetic shaft. The “ears” - the grooves of the blade must be aligned with the holes for the screws, pressed against them and secured with two screws.

The cartridge is ready to go!
