Modern DVD or MPEG format movies can have multiple audio tracks. Usually this is the original voice acting and dubbed translation, which can be in several versions, for example, Russian and Polish. Very often there is a need to change the voice language, for example, in order to learn a foreign language. How to change the audio track in KMPlayer will be discussed in this article.

Standard situations

Often, users ask why, when starting a video with different audio tracks, they sound at the same time. So, for example, the film has both original sound and Russian dubbing. As a result of overlapping streams on top of each other, an incredible noise is created that spoils all the viewing pleasure.

This is a regular situation, and it takes place regardless of the operating system installed on the computer or the type of player. Some players may “refuse” to play the track you need if there are more than one in the movie. KMPlayer is a completely different matter. It perfectly perceives and plays all available streams of audio, has the whole set of necessary codecs, is easy to manage and absolutely free.

There are several easy ways to control sound in KMPlayer:

 • Right-click on the player’s window while watching a video and select “Audio” in the context menu that opens, from it - “Stream Selection”. In the window that appears, select the desired track.

 • If you don’t have the “Audio” item, you need to run advanced settings. You can do this this way: call Settings by pressing the F2 key, in the list that appears, find the item “Advanced menu” and put a checkmark in front of it.

 • The easiest way to change the sound of voice acting is to use the keyboard shortcut “Ctrl + X”.

And the last one. If you haven’t downloaded, but purchased a movie recorded on a DVD, information on the number of sound tracks can be found directly on the box. If, despite all your efforts, changing the voice acting does not work, then you need to look for the problem in the drive itself, and it is better to return it to the seller. Happy viewing!

The popular program for viewing video files KMP Player has just a huge number of features. One of these possibilities is to change the soundtrack of the movie if different tracks are present in the file or you have an audio track as a separate file. This allows you to switch between different translations or select the original language.

But the user who first turned on the program may not understand how to change the voice language. Read on to learn how to do this.

The program allows you to change the audio tracks already built into the video, or connect an external one. First, consider a variant with various sound options sewn into a video.

Turn on the video in the app. Right-click on the program window and select the menu item Filters> KMP Built-in LAV Splitter. It is also possible that the last menu item will have a different name.

In the list that opens, a set of available sounds is presented.

This list is marked “A”, do not confuse with the video channel (“V”) and changing subtitles (“S”).

Select the desired voice acting and watch the movie further.

How to add a third-party audio track to KMPlayer

As already mentioned, the application is able to load external audio tracks, which are a separate file.

To load such a track, right-click on the program screen and select Open> Download External Audio Track.

A window opens to select the desired file. Select the desired audio file - now in the film the selected file will sound as an audio track. This method is somewhat more complicated than choosing the voice acting that is already built into the video, but it allows you to watch a movie with the sound you want. True, you have to look for a suitable track - the sound must be synchronized with the video.

Recently, a considerable number of films, especially versions processed from a DVD or Blu-ray source, may contain 2 or more sound versions. High-quality duplicate translation is standardly supplemented by the original, and sometimes several options from enthusiasts or other professional translation and dubbing studios. A simple viewer only benefits from such a variety, because now there is a choice - you can sometimes listen to “fresh” dubbing or the goblin’s savory style. Most often, to change the soundtrack in KMPlayer, it is enough to use the key combination CTRL + X, all other options are discussed in more detail later in the article.

Types of audio tracks

There are two types of audio or audio tracks - built-in and external. The first is a more convenient option, because all the voiceovers in the video are “wired” into one file and switch faster. The second one, however, makes it easier to distribute the translation among users, although synchronization of video and sound is required for different files, it connects a little slower.

Adding an external audio track

Run the desired video file and pause it. We click RMB in the active KMPlayer window → “Open” → “Download external audio track”. Next, you need to find (usually located in the folder with the movie itself) and select the audio file that we want to connect as an audio track, then click "Open." After performing this procedure, two options are possible: either the external track will connect itself and become active, or it should appear in one of the “Filters” item lists (it will become available after clicking RMB in the active KMPlayer window) and you will need to select it already there.

How to change the built-in sound track

The built-in audio track changes in the “Filters” item (it will become available after clicking RMB in the active KMPlayer window). The following are two options, depending on the default splitter. If Matroska is active, then you should look for a list called "KMP Matroska Reader", if LAV Splitter - look for the item with the corresponding name, there will be a list of available audio tracks with the option to select the option you need.

Russian default audio tracks

In recent versions of KMPlayer, a rule is fixed in the settings that gives priority to voice acting in English. As a result, you have to switch tracks each time yourself. This rule can and should be changed. To do this, go to the player settings using the F2 hotkey. In the vertical block on the left we find the item “Subtitle processing” and select the sub-item “Languages / Speech”. Next, edit the line “Preferred subtitle language”, as a result, two words rus ru should remain. In other words, we made sure that audio tracks containing the abbreviations rus or ru take precedence over the others. To set another priority for languages, for example, Russian, Japanese, English, one could write rus jpn eng. Now it remains to click the Close button at the bottom right of the window and the settings are saved.

Almost all films on this site have 2 audio tracks, English and Russian. If you're lucky, you can watch movies online on your gadget. There will be English and subtitles (stands on the 1st track). In order to switch sound tracks, you need to download the movie on your PC. You can switch the sound track only for those video files that have these two tracks! Most popular players (except the standard Windows Media Player) make switching between tracks easy, in 2-3 clicks.

The logic is simple everywhere. It is necessary to find in the menu item Sound (Audio), then choose, i.e. tick the desired Track (Stream). Be careful if you select two tracks, maybe two sound channels will play at once. You can download players anywhere. Most of them are free.
