Both phones are actively sold in the domestic market and are receiving positive reviews. They cost approximately the same and are flagship models from lines from different manufacturers.

Parameter table

In the table we indicate the main characteristics of both models and cost. The comparison involved phones with 32 GB of memory “on board”.

iPhone 6s Galaxy S7
Price 39-40 thousand rubles 35-38 thousand rubles
Display 4.7 inches, 1334x750 5.1 inches, 2560x1440 (QHD)
CPU Apple A9 Exynos 8890
Graphics MALI T880 MP12
RAM 1 GB 4 GB
Disk 32 GB 32 GB
Rear camera 12 MP, f/2.2
Battery 14 hours talk time 3000 mAh
Dust and water protection

These 2 smartphones are fundamentally different, so it’s not entirely appropriate to compare them. But we'll try.

Displays

The first obvious difference is the displays, their diagonal, resolution. Many users are unknowingly disappointed when they see the resolution of the iPhone 6S, which is not FullHD, but only HD in 2017! But in reality, with a diagonal of 4.7 inches, the FullHD display is simply stupid. Apple finds a balance between screen size and resolution. As a result, the resolution of 1334x750 fits perfectly into the specified diagonal: there is absolutely no pixelation, unnecessary load on the processor is eliminated, unnecessary battery consumption is also eliminated, and the picture for the user is as comfortable as possible. In addition, there is a Retina display, which means colors will look natural even at the widest viewing angles, and the brightness margin is huge. In two words – the display is beautiful.

IN Samsung Galaxy S7 screen is great too. This is a SuperAMOLED display with QHD resolution and a diagonal of 5.1 inches. SuperAMOLED technology is supposed to be the best technology today and many other manufacturers are trying to get their hands on it for use in their smartphones. In our opinion, the resolution of 2560x1440 is unnecessary here; simple HD or, at most, FullHD would be enough. QHD is, of course, cool, but there is little practical benefit from it. You won’t notice the difference in the picture on such a small diagonal (even just HD will look good on a 5.1-inch display), and the load on the processor and battery increases greatly. Therefore, here QHD is a simple marketing ploy, and not the most successful one.

But it’s worth paying tribute: the display in the Samsung Galaxy S7 is good: it behaves well in the sun (there are no glares or reflections), there is a large brightness reserve, and the color rendition is natural. Samsung specialists even took care of users who are used to wearing glasses with a polarizing filter. A regular screen, when viewed with such glasses, turns black at a certain angle, but not Galaxy display S7. This is the first display to provide such a detail.

And finally, the highlight is the Always On Display technology, which displays the clock, date, battery charge or anything else of your choice on the locked screen. Now you don’t need to press buttons for the screen to light up and display necessary information. At the same time this technology consumes extremely little electricity. For a whole day of work, supporting Always On Display technology takes only 2-3% of the battery charge.

It's difficult to draw conclusions. Both the iPhone 6S and Galaxy S7 have cool screens. But thanks to some new technologies, Samsung's SuperAMOLED display wins. Important: this victory is not at all due to the higher resolution. To some extent this is a disadvantage here.

Processor: Apple A9 vs Exynos 8890

CPU in Galaxy S7

Two different chips can be used here: Exynos 8890 or Snapdragon 820. The most commonly used proprietary processor is Exynos 8890, and models with SD 820 are extremely rare. Therefore, locally look towards the Exynos 8890. This is a pretty cool processor for the flagship Samsung line. It can also be used in later phones: Galaxy S7 Edge+ or Galaxy Note 6.

This chip runs on ARMv8 architecture and has eight cores: 4 M1 cores high performance, 4 cores for energy saving – Cortex-A53 (low performance). There is also ARM Mali T880MP12 graphics.

The Snapdragon 820 processor, which this flagship can also use, shows similar results in the performance test. But due to higher power consumption, it will have approximately 10% less battery life, and the camera's focusing speed will be slightly slower, which is a disadvantage of the Snapdragon 820. Therefore, we recommend choosing the Galaxy S7 with Exynos processor.

Apple A9

Without going into technical details, the performance of the iPhone 6S can be characterized as follows: all sites open extremely quickly, the interface works without the slightest slowdown or freezes, applications and games show high FPS.

According to the Antutu benchmark, the iPhone 6S scores 132,606 points and takes 32nd place in the overall rating among all smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy S7 is in 22nd position in the ranking with a score of 140,407 points.

These results were published on the official Antutu blog. It follows that the Galaxy S7 is more powerful, and the Exynos 8890 outperforms the Apple A9. The winner is a Korean-made Samsung product.

Camera comparison

Let's start with S7. Here it is used Sony camera IMX260, which was originally developed specifically for this flagship. The lens aperture is f/1.7, which is good (compared to the standard f/2.0). Unlike other cameras, focusing in the Sony IMX260 is carried out over the entire area of the matrix (the technology is called Dual Pixel), which means that each pixel takes part in focusing, which increases the brightness and clarity of the image. This is especially noticeable in evening photos in low light. You can't call the camera strong, but it's definitely better cameras many competitive flagships.

Examples of photos on S7

Now about the iPhone 6S. We were unable to find precise information about the iPhone 6S sensor. It has a resolution of 12 megapixels, an aperture of f/2.2 (which is worse compared to the S7), the presence of an HDR mode, and True Tone Flash. But there is no optical stabilization (like in Samsung).

Examples of photos on iPhone 6S

It is difficult to determine the winner in this pair, because... The photos on both smartphones are decent. Subjectively, we will give the victory Samsung phone Galaxy S7. Visually it seems that the quality is better there, although it is very difficult to notice the difference by eye.

Autonomy

According to the manufacturer, the iPhone 6S can withstand 14 hours of talk time, 11 hours of video viewing and 50 hours of music. Of course, these are approximate figures, but it can be argued that every evening or night the phone will have to be charged. This is the "standard" for a modern phone.

Capacity Galaxy batteries S7 is higher - 3000 mAh, but this is indirectly related to autonomy. After all, the operating time of phones is also about optimization, the correct consumption of energy by components. Samsung does a good job with this: video playback at maximum brightness is 13 hours. This indirectly confirms autonomy. Some users claim that in “economy mode” the phone lasts 2 days, and there are those who manage to use up the charge in 3 days, but this is already a perversion.

Be that as it may, the S7 has a little better battery life, so the winner is the flagship from Samsung.

Other differences

IP68 dust and water protection is a feature of the S7. You can drown it and nothing will happen to it. Not only can water not get inside, but also the components are protected with a special solution (impregnation) that repels water. USB connectors are also protected.

Both ordinary mobile users and fans of the products of the South Korean brand Samsung could not help but notice that when releasing new top-end devices, the manufacturing company tries to equip them as much as possible with new technical innovations.

The current gadget in the branded line is the Galaxy S7 model. It is quite natural that many immediately asked the following question: “So what is the difference between the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the S6, what are its advantages over the previous hit?”

Of course, you can simply base your purchase on the feasibility of the purchase, taking into account factors such as cost and functionality phone.

But, if you are used to “weighing” everything before purchasing, then it is important for you to compare these two devices. So what are the differences between the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S6? Let's figure it out.

Price

The prices for these models differ. Thus, the Samsung Galaxy S6 can now be purchased at a price starting from 26,000 rubles, and the official cost of a smartphone in company stores is no less than 35,000 rubles.

You'll have to pay a lot more for the Galaxy S7. In small online stores the price starts from 39,000 thousand rubles, in official stores – 50,000 rubles.

Characteristics: comparison

If you are interested in how the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S6 differ in terms of characteristics, then it is immediately impossible not to note that the “newbie” has many advantages over the “old man”. And the benefits are obvious.

  1. The new smartphone has a faster processor.
  2. The S7 has an excellent camera, recognized as one of the best among all other flagships.
  3. An important parameter is map support MicroSD memory.
  4. Protection not only from pollution, but also from moisture. The smartphone can withstand immersion in water for half an hour at a depth of up to one meter.
  5. The device operates in the most modern networks 4G LTE, even in those that are just being tested.
  6. There is Always-on display technology. This is accelerated access to notifications and time.
  7. The Galaxy S7 has a unique curved back surface.
  8. Energy saving technologies have been improved.
  9. The battery has become noticeably more capacious.

Differences in external parameters

The developers of the manufacturing company introduced a lot of innovations into the design of the “newbie”, despite their commitment to tradition.

Thus, the shape of the new smartphone has become closer to the Note 5. This has made the smartphone smaller and more ergonomic compared to the S6 model.

The back of the “seven” almost does not protrude from the background back cover, in contrast to the “six”, where this module is clearly noticeable and noticeable.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has become heavier and a little thicker due to the fact that it has a more reinforced body.

This was done to achieve the IP68 waterproof standard. The size of the flagship was also influenced by the use of a more capacious battery. It now has 3000 mAh.

In any case, what to buy is up to everyone to decide for themselves. In my opinion, purchasing a Galaxy S7 is much more practical.

Even if you are short on funds, you can look for acceptable offers at very attractive prices in branded stores.

It's strange that we haven't done it yet Samsung comparison Galaxy S7 vs Galaxy S6: how much is the “newbie” superior to its predecessor, which smartphone will ultimately become the best buy now?

Based on the feasibility of the purchase, the main factor of choice will be the price/capability ratio of the smartphone. On at the moment Samsung Galaxy S6 in Russia can be bought starting from 27,000 rubles, while official price in branded showrooms Samsung and stores of its retail partners is 34,990 rubles.

In this case, we are considering the basic version of the Galaxy S6 32 Gb without Dual-SIM. For the Duos option you will have to pay a little more - from 33,500 rubles, since these handsets are officially supplied to Russia only with a memory capacity of 64 GB.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has minimal choice. In fact, we have one model with a memory capacity of 32 GB and support for two SIM cards. Now Samsung Galaxy S7 32 Gb can be purchased at a price of 39,000 rubles in small online stores, but the official recommended price is currently 49,990 rubles.

Samsung Galaxy S7 vs Galaxy S6: comparison of characteristics

From the point of view technical characteristics new Samsung The Galaxy S7 is clearly superior to its predecessor:

  1. Much faster processor (for Russia and CIS countries - Exynos 8890).
  2. Excellent camera, the best among smartphones at the moment.
  3. MicroSD memory card support. This is actually a very important parameter.
  4. Work in the most modern 4G LTE networks, even those that are only being tested even in South Korea itself.
  5. Significantly more capacious battery and the best energy saving technologies.

However, this superiority cannot be called overwhelming. Let's say, compared to the Galaxy Note 3, its “successor” Note 4 was a much more technically advanced product, literally crammed with innovation, which cannot be said about the Galaxy S7. Rather, it is a very high-quality and thoughtful product, the creation of which was carried out great job bugs have been fixed and a number of interesting features have been introduced, such as a new camera.

Buyer decides

However, in any case, the buyer puts an end to the Samsung Galaxy S7 vs Galaxy S6 dispute. In our opinion, it makes sense to buy the Galaxy S6 now only during promotions, when its price may decline even at significant retail outlets up to 30,000 rubles; in all other cases, buying a Galaxy S7 will definitely be more practical. Even if you are short on funds, there are many offers from reliable stores at very attractive prices.

(No ratings yet)

Many who are used to changing their smartphone once a year (in accordance with the replacement schedule of most flagships) are wondering whether it is worth spending 40,000 rubles on an update. Last year, the flagship of the S line from Samsung cost about 30 thousand, this year - about 10 thousand more. Willy-nilly, you begin to look towards more affordable solutions. And now you’re wondering: how to save money and at the same time make right choice? Or maybe it's worth paying extra and getting one of best devices on the market?

So, the selection criteria: a new device from a well-known manufacturer (not Chinese), premium body materials, a good camera, a high-quality screen. For the purity of the experiment, we will take 2 devices from the same manufacturer.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy A7 in my hands. Both devices are well built. S6 - metal and glass at the back, A7 - metal (partially painted) throughout. Both devices have good cameras: 16 megapixels with optical stabilization in the S6 and a 13-megapixel module without it in the A7. Both have Super Amoled screens (QHD for S6 and FullHD for A7).

Let's try to figure out whether it's worth overpaying 17,000 rubles (namely, this is the difference in the official cost of the devices at the time of writing the review) for the older Galaxy S6 model.

Seven reasons in favor of the Galaxy S6

1) Image / Flagship

The Galaxy S6 is the top-end smartphone from Samsung until the fall of 2015, when Note 5 comes out. Hence the perception of the device. The wow effect, of course, is not the same as that of the iPhone 6 at the time of release, but close to it. This time the device is uncompromising - glass, metal, in the hand it feels not like a plastic toy, but like an “adult”, solid thing. This is unusual for Samsung.

2) Size

You take the S6 in your hand after the A7 and rejoice - it’s not so difficult to reach for the upper left corner of the screen. The smartphone fits perfectly in the hand. The size is just right. It is optimal for the compromise between usability and screen size.

3) Screen

The screen on the Galaxy S6 is fantastically good. Resolution 2560x1440 with a diagonal of 5.1 inches (for many modern TVs With large diagonals lower resolution). Record pixel density for mobile devices- 577 dots per inch (for comparison, printing is 300 dots). But in everyday use It will be difficult to notice the difference with a FullHD screen, unless, of course, you carry a magnifying glass with you.

4) Camera

In recent years, Samsung has been putting great cameras. Galaxy S6 is no exception. In all conditions (in sunny weather, indoors, and in the evening), the S6 allows you to take excellent amateur-level shots. The camera works very quickly under any conditions. Optical stabilization does its job perfectly - where the A7 blurs a lot, the S6 shoots clearly.

5) Platform/performance

Another planet. The first thing that comes to mind when you compare the S6 and A7 head-on. Samsung flagship just flies. The interface, launching applications, switching between programs is incredibly fast. No, the A7 is not slow. The Galaxy S6 is simply too fast. And you quickly get used to it.

6) Functionality (chips)

The lack of bells and whistles, which I will soon count as a “plus” of the A7, is an unaffordable luxury for the S6. Everything that Samsung came up with is here (with the exception of the stylus and features associated with its use - this is the territory of the Note line). A smartphone can be absorbed for a couple of days. And still you won’t even be aware of some of the possibilities. For many, this makes using the phone more difficult; others, on the contrary, cannot imagine their life without, for example, a heartbeat sensor. The advantage is that you don’t have to use all the bells and whistles. But it's always nice to know that they exist.

7) Updates Android versions

Well, one last thing. Galaxy S6 runs on version 5 of Android (out of the box 5.0.2). Since it is the company's flagship, you can be sure that the S6 will be one of the first to receive system updates in the future. However, the A7 in Russia also received an update to version 5.0.2.

Six reasons in favor of the A7

1) Screen size

Many smartphone owners have the understanding in their heads that the larger the screen on a smartphone, the cooler and more expensive it is (fans of Apple products are definitely convinced of this after the release of the 6 and 6 Plus). But there are exceptions to all rules.

The screen diagonal in the A7 is 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1920x1080. It's bright, rich, and the settings allow you to “tailor” the screen to suit you (for critics AMOLED screens this will be very relevant). The screen no longer seems too big after a day of use. You quickly adapt to two-handed use. After A7 I don't want to go back to smaller screens. The resolution is more than enough to not see individual pixels (although those who want to find pixelated fonts will find them). Text on the screen is clear and photos and videos look great. The screen behaves very well in the sun - it has an excellent brightness reserve.

2) Housing

The A7, like the entire Galaxy A series (A3, A5, A7), uses all-metal body. The smartphone is non-separable (you won’t be able to transfer the battery on the go). It is worth noting that the A7 is the thinnest Galaxy smartphone to date. Even a camera protruding slightly beyond the body does not spoil the impression of the device. In general, this solution looks more reliable from the point of view of dropping the phone. Which is better - a dent in metal or broken glass- it's up to the end user to decide. I vote for metal.

3) Simplicity

It’s strange to write this, but the Galaxy A7 attracts, among other things, with its simplicity. There is no heart rate sensor, there is no unlocking of the device using a fingerprint, and there are fewer camera settings. In general, the A7 is a smartphone without unnecessary bells and whistles. For some, this is a definite plus.

4) Expandable memory

The Galaxy A7 has 16 gigabytes of internal memory. If this is not enough, you can expand the memory using a memory card (memory up to 64 GB is supported). In the Galaxy S6, you need to choose the amount of memory when purchasing. At the same time, the cost of additional space is significantly higher than the cost of a memory card of similar size.

5) Dual Sim

Galaxy A7 has 2 SIM card slots. In fact, you can’t directly call it a device with 2 SIM cards. The user needs to make a choice - either install 2 SIM cards, or expand the memory by microSD cards(universal slot). I used to be confused by this decision. Now I see more advantages in it than disadvantages. Do you need to insert a work SIM card? Please. Need to more memory for photos on a trip? No problem!

6) Price

Here the victory of the Galaxy A7 is obvious. If we consider official sales channels, the A7 is about a third cheaper than the Galaxy S6.

Conclusions

Is Galaxy S6 better than Galaxy A7? Yes, better. Almost everything. Is the S6 better enough to overpay 12-13 thousand rubles for it? It seems to me that yes, it is much better. Prices for smartphones have increased, following the change in the ruble exchange rate. But the flagships remained flagships - and for the best, manufacturers have already asked more for the best.

As we have already written, the only equivalent counterweight to the iPhone on the global market is the Samsung Galaxy line. Moreover, of particular interest to users is not only a comparison of two competing flagships, but also a comparison of the Korean manufacturer’s own models. Let's see how the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge compares to last year's Galaxy S6 edge+.

Housing, dimensions and weight

The powerful flagship smartphone-phablet of 2016 is 2% shorter and 4% narrower, but 12% thicker than the 2015 model. The weight of the new product also increased by about 3%. Dimensions are:

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge 151 x 73 x 7.7 mm, weight 157 grams.
Samsung Galaxy S6 edge 154 x 76 x 6.9 mm, weight 153 grams.

The back cover of the new product has curved surface, while both phones received an aluminum frame. As for the color options of the case, the new product has 3 gammas, and last year’s version had 4. Probably, this gap will be filled in the coming months.

Display

The display diagonal is another area that can be seen as a step back. In the 2015 product, this figure was 5.7 inches, which is suitable for a phablet. This year, the model received a 5.5-inch display, which brings it closer to regular smartphones.

On the other hand, the resolution of both devices remains the same – 1440 x 2560 pixels. That is, the pixel density per inch of the new product is higher – 534ppi versus 518ppi. As for the types of displays, both of them are made using AMOLED technology, and the use of curved glass is also the same. The undoubted advantages of the new product include the constant display of the date and time without the need to use controls. This is not the case in last year's version.

Cameras

The main camera of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge received a 12 MP sensor versus 16 MP in the S6 edge +. Despite the reduction in resolution, the new camera has better performance when shooting in low light. In both cases applied optical stabilization to reduce the effect of hand tremors. As for the aperture, in the new model this figure is F/1.7 versus F/1.9 in the earlier model.

Battery

The new model received a battery with a capacity of 3600 mAh, while last year's version had a 3000 mAh battery. Apparently, this explains the slight increase in the thickness of the case in 2016. Both smartphones support Charge 2.0 fast charging technology and include wireless charging. To do this, you need to purchase a charging station separately.

Cooling system

The new product uses a liquid cooling system (it is not available in the Galaxy S6 Edge).

Microprocessor

For China, Japan and the USA, the Qualcomm 820 microprocessor is used. For the rest of the world, an updated 8-core Exynos 8990 with clock frequency 2.15 GHz, which is the successor to the chip in the Galaxy S6 Edge (Exynos 7420 with PM = 2.1 GHz).

RAM and ROM

The RAM in both flagships is the same - 4 GB. As for permanent memory, a version with 128 GB has been added to the sizes of 32 GB and 64 GB available in last year’s version. I would also especially like to note that the developer included a slot for MicroSD in the new product, which was not the case in the Galaxy S6 Edge version.

Smartphone protection

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge has received an officially confirmed IP68 sealing certificate. This standard indicates absolute dust-tightness and water-tightness when immersed in a pool to a depth of 200 cm for up to 60 minutes. Last year's version does not have an official security certificate.

Fingerprint sensor

Available in both versions.

Software

So far, both models are running Android 5, but the new Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is ready to be updated to the sixth version of the operating system.
