On the STDU Viewer tab Content(picture above) displays the document table of contents (if provided by the file creator) as a drop-down hypertext list. With it, you can easily navigate to the item you need in the document and / or view all the items to get a general idea of the contents of the file.

tab Bookmarks(picture below) contains a list with custom bookmarks by text. You can independently create bookmarks for various pages with your own notes. And then, as in the case of the table of contents, go to the desired text by pressing one button. It is possible to import / export bookmarks to / from XML file. If necessary, you can delete or edit a previously created bookmark.

As well as with the table of contents, bookmarks can be arranged in a hierarchical tree-like order (figure below). You can change the order of the tabs later.

STDU Viewer 1.6 has several search settings:

tab Backlight(picture below) will give you the opportunity to select an arbitrary fragment of the test in the document and add it to the tab for quick access. This is an analogue of bookmarks, only in this case the transition is carried out directly to the desired piece of text. In this case, this fragment will be highlighted in a different color. It is possible to export the highlighted fragment to a TXT file.

The view area (figure below) is the main area in the STDU Viewer interface. It displays the contents of the document. The program allows you to work with several documents at the same time. In this case, tabs with document file names will appear at the top of the viewing area.

You can also display all open documents as thumbnails (picture below) for easier viewing.

If you had several documents open when exiting STDU Viewer, the next time you start the program, you will be prompted to open them (figure below). And you can choose which ones to open and which not. Or even refuse to open previous documents.

The status bar (picture below) contains the following tools:

Working with the program

To work with documents, the STDU Viewer provides a toolbar (figure below).

Let's look at the available tools from left to right (picture above).

Open file.
Seal.
Rotate clockwise. Rotates the current page clockwise.
Rotate counterclockwise. Rotates the current page counterclockwise.
Scale. Allows you to change the viewing scale of the current document. You can enter a percentage using the keyboard (between 5% and 500%) or select one of the following options: Fit to Width, Fit to Width (Advanced), Fit to Page, Fit to Height. To the right of the Scale tool there are three buttons: by width, by page size, by height. They duplicate the capabilities of the Scale tool.
Arm. This tool will allow you to "drag" pages with your mouse as you see fit.
Select text. If there is a text layer in the document, this tool will allow you to select a fragment for further work with it (copy, bookmark, highlight, and so on).
Select image. Allows you to take a screenshot of the selected area of the document. Regardless of the presence of a text layer. Works similar to the Scissors program in Windows 7.
Selection Scale. Allows you to zoom in on the area you selected with the mouse.
Search for text in a document. Opens the Search tab in the Navigation pane.
Synchronize with content. When you click this button, the STDU Viewer will highlight the section in the table of contents on which page you are currently on.

Depending on the file format, STDU Viewer offers a "special" tool by placing it on the toolbar. For example, for FB2 and PDF, a tool for extracting illustrations from a document is offered. For DJVU - format converter (picture below). But these are paid features.

Quick search will allow you to find the desired expression on the pages before and after the current one. During the search, STDU Viewer will highlight the searched fragment. Search is possible only if there is a text layer.

Menu File(picture below) contains operations for working with files. Let's look at the most interesting ones.

Sessions. You can create specific sets of documents that you work with at the same time.
This option (picture below) will allow you to configure the print settings for the document. For example, select a printer to print, page numbers, number of copies, scaling method, and so on.

STDU Viewer allows you to export data from a document to "external" file formats. Options for exporting to image and text are available (figure below). When exporting to an image, you have access to such graphic file formats as BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, you can select the export resolution from 72 dpi to 600 dpi, page numbers, destination folder and set the file name template. When exporting to text (only if there is a text layer in the document), the text format is available. TXT file. You can also specify page numbers and destination folder.

The process of adding pages to bookmarks

In order for the STDU Viewer program to add the necessary page to the bookmarks, you need to click the right mouse button on the page that is currently being viewed. After clicking, the "Add bookmark" window will pop up, in which you need to click on the "OK" button.

The process of saving PDF to TXT

With a simple copy, the text that is highlighted can be pasted into the windows of other programs − text editors, saving the text in TXT format, or sending it to e-mail.
