I dropped my iPhone 5 and it won’t turn on, what should I do? What can you do if your iPhone won't turn on?

With great bewilderment I look at the window display of one Russian store. And I can’t understand how this happened.

iPhone SE, a modern and productive mini-smartphone, suddenly sold for 20 thousand rubles. That is, for the price of an average Android device.

This for good reason.

Apple has begun to slowly kill the most successful smartphone in human history. But he does it unexpectedly correctly. It’s as if someone has appeared in the company who can think beyond golden MacBooks...

Why the iPhone SE is doomed to be cool

Was introduced in March 2016. It immediately became a dream phone for everyone who was not chasing “shovels.” There really is not a single minus, except for the small display:

  • it is small and convenient (can be hidden in your fist)
  • works for an amazingly long time (2 days is the norm)
  • takes surprisingly decent photos (12 megapixels)
  • “flies” in any task, be healthy (thanks to the display)
  • launches the latest, current applications App Store.

It also supports Apple Pay, LTE and has Touch ID. According to the standards of the mass user, relevant in 2017, this is - flagship. And also the “top” iPhone among small iPhones, and nothing has changed in a year.

What can I say if I, a cynic, was very impressed by this pipe? Arthur is generally a “full-fledged” iPhone, I also considered this option for a long time. I recommended the iPhone SE to all my acquaintances and friends, and not the then newfangled iPhone 6s. In the end, no one regretted it.

Although I was wrong about one thing now. There was a minus - the high price.

Not everyone could afford the iPhone SE: the version with a measly 16 GB cost 33 thousand rubles, and 64 GB then cost a serious 42 thousand, that is, almost new iPhone 6s or (now) iPhone 7.

Today it costs almost 2 times cheaper, because the time has come. According to Apple, the iPhone SE should be the most popular smartphone in the world and displace from this place - yes, you guessed it - the iPhone 5S.

Why the iPhone 5s is simply Apple's best phone

1. The best price/quality ratio. There is no feeling that you overpaid for the brand. Every ruble will be spent 100%.

2. Iron backward in 2017, but it works no worse than a mid-range Android smart phone. Even on iOS 10, the interface has almost no lag, and applications open faster than you want to smash your smartphone against the wall.

3. Chic And convenient form factor. Pocket smart! Nowadays it’s impossible to find normal gadgets of this size, and then there’s Apple, style-show-off-convenience. You do everything with one hand, after Plus it’s just a revelation.

4. iPhone repair 5s is incredibly cheap and fast. They can replace the battery (700 rubles) or the display (1200 rubles) in 10 minutes in the nearest basement with their eyes closed. You can drop, hit, and not be afraid of anything. If only the craftsmen didn’t break the Touch ID cable later, otherwise the fingerprint sensor would be destroyed.

6. This the most affordable ticket to the world of Apple for an ordinary Russian person - until recently it cost only 19-25 thousand rubles. Previously, most people dreamed of an iPhone, but could not afford it - especially schoolchildren and students who are not given installment plans for the new iPhone 69. Thanks to the 5s, the army of Apple fans has grown many times over, and there are fewer stupid Apple haters on the Internet.

7. At least one more 1 year support. Since you can install iOS 11, all top ones Apps Store will be launched normally until the end of 2018. That is, with “eska” you will be in the trend circle for a very long time.

8. Design the 5s is gorgeous. I still think that iPhone 5 and 5s are the most beautiful Apple smartphones. Jony Ive tried, and it shows. “Eska” evokes associations with jewelry, the white and gold models are especially chic.

There are many more small advantages - if you forgot anything, please mention it in the comments.

The iPhone SE will replace the iPhone 5s, and it's GOOD

iPhone 5s for a long time was the best-selling smartphone in Russia. And it probably remains that way to this day.

Apple understood that they couldn’t just abandon such a popular but old smartphone. Therefore it decided to replace it with iPhone SE. The obstacle was the price, and that was reduced.

And then they launched a sale on SE for 16 and 64 GB. Now By iPhone price 5s you can buy iPhone SE- still the same 20 thousand rubles. Same money, but much more power. At least go and update right now.

So yeah, good strategy, Apple. I wish it would be like this more often. Of all the devices, the iPhone 5s most deserves such a proper, profitable retirement. Once again it’s obvious: the only thing better than the old iPhone is new iPhone

iPhone is the most popular gadget used by people of all ages. But prices have increased, and many people are now forced to pay attention to devices from other manufacturers on other platforms when choosing a phone. Perhaps you are one of those people who shouldn't buy an iPhone? We have five reasons for this, as in the legendary song.

1. High price

Now official prices for iPhone 6 in Russia start at 49 thousand rubles. When converted to dollars, this is 987 conventional units. In the USA the price starts at $650; in other countries it is higher, but significantly less than the Russian one. It turns out that you are greatly overpaying.

Plus, if a smartphone costs 50 thousand rubles, this does not mean at all that it is twice as better model for 25 thousand from another manufacturer. If you wish, you can find a device with slightly worse or even comparable characteristics, but on a different platform.

2. You don't need iOS-exclusive apps

App Store is best store mobile applications. The developers have created many exclusive programs and games for the Apple mobile platform. But do you really need them?

Most users need approximately the same set of programs: good browser, mail client, messengers, social network clients, navigation, to-do lists, photo editors. The vast majority of such iOS applications have their own versions for Android and Windows Phone. So why buy an iPhone if you can perform your daily tasks on simpler smartphones?

3. You want to stand out from the crowd

The iPhone has long ceased to be an element of style and individuality. Seriously, when you travel on public transport, every second passenger already has an iPhone in their hands. Yes, you can buy a case, make an engraving, or even order a wooden bumper, but why, if this can be done with any other phone?

Nowadays, when people see that you have an iPhone, they don’t say “Wow, how cool,” but “Oh, our man.” The Apple smartphone has long been a thing, so if you want to stand out from the crowd, there are plenty of ways to do it without having to buy a phone with an Apple on the back.

4. You don't have a Mac or other Apple devices

The Apple ecosystem itself is a good thing. The devices interact, allowing you to work with the same files on the fly, answer calls and SMS from your computer. However, before you buy an iPhone, think about whether you want to become a full-fledged participant in the Apple ecosystem?

Lots of features such as iCloud, Safari bookmarks, cloud storage iCloud Drive, Handoff, Continuity, are based primarily on the collaboration of iOS and OS X. If you do not have others Apple devices, then you'll miss out on much of the user experience on iPhone. Why do you need this?

5. You don't like iOS. For various reasons

If you are a geek at heart who likes to tinker with the insides of a smartphone, flash the kernels, install shells and launchers, then iOS is clearly not for you. No jailbreak tweak can match the customization capabilities of Android. One more point - you are actively using Google services. Here the choice of mobile OS is also obvious.

Additionally, not everyone likes the design and interface of iOS. Many people are delighted with Material Design on Android or Metro tiles on Windows Phone. Still others would never trade their BlackBerry with a QWERTY keyboard for anything. You may have your reasons for not liking iOS, and all of them can be good reasons for not buying an iPhone.

The perfect design and high optimization make the iPhone 5/5s synonymous with reliability for many years, but despite this, Apple cannot avoid all problems.

Don’t give in to the illusion, a situation where the iPhone 5 won’t turn on can happen. Although it is very well designed, over time it can develop problems such as freezing, overheating, or turning off and not turning on.

If your iPhone 5 won't turn on after turning off, this is a sign that you need to read the tips below.

After trying these few tricks, there is a 90% chance that you will fix it yourself.

iPhone 5 won't turn on - turn it on with the program

If your iPhone 5 does not turn on, you can turn it on using a proven program -

Moreover, it will also fix problems with iOS that lead to problems - of course, if the phone fell or something burned, the program will not fix it.

For every violation of the integrity of iOS, ready-made solutions are provided, and it is impossible to get confused in the interface.

Give it a try. The program works on all iOS, including the latest eleventh, and has been tested in practice.

iPhone 5 won't turn on - connect to a working charger

All seniors iPhone generation are subject to a sharp decrease in battery charge level. This is especially noticeable when the phone overheats (for example, a combination of high screen brightness, WiFi, Bluetooth and applications running in the background).

Another factor that causes your phone to overheat is intense solar radiation.

All this causes the iPhone 5/5s to fail, misjudge and show the wrong battery charge.

If the iPhone does not want to turn on due to low battery, then after connecting to the charger, a battery with a red stripe should appear on the screen.

Remember - the device will not turn on immediately, but only when it is charged to at least 5%, so be patient. Problem not solved? Go to the second point.

iPhone 5 won't turn on - force restart

After connecting the phone to the charger, it still does not want to turn on.

The next thing you need to do is reboot it. To do this, hold down the on/off button for a few seconds.

If your iPhone 5/5s turns off, it should turn on - if the result is negative, move on to the third point.

iPhone 5 won't turn on - a hard reset should help

A hard reset is often confused with simply turning off a smartphone. Although soft reset only possible when the “Disable” bar appears on the screen; a hard reset is possible in any situation.

It works better than just turning off your phone. A hard reset is equivalent to disconnecting the phone from the power source by removing the battery.

Try performing a hard reset according to the instructions below.

  • Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time. / Off" for about 10 seconds (it is important to press them simultaneously).
  • Wait until it appears white screen with a black logo in the middle.
  • Release the buttons and wait for the device to recover.

If even a hard reset doesn't help, move on to the next step.

iPhone 5 won't turn on - return to factory settings

If your iPhone5/5s still won't turn on, the most advanced action you can take is to factory reset the phone.

NOTE: Before performing this operation, make sure you have a backup of your phone.

REMEMBER: Restoring to factory settings is equivalent to erasing all data and settings on your phone.

READY: In this case, simply connect your phone to your computer, turn on iTunes and select the "Restore" button.

If this doesn't even help, do following instructions:

  • Connect the USB cable to the charging port, but do not connect it to your computer.
  • Click the Home button.
  • While holding the Home button, connect the other end USB cable to the computer.

If you follow the right steps, iTunes will turn on and the iPhone will automatically enter recovery mode, allowing you to completely restore your phone.

Why does the iPhone 5 light up or blink and won’t turn on?

Your iPhone has turned off and won’t turn on, but the apple lights up or blinks when starting up? This happens and is eliminated, but the whole pain is that there is more than one reason.

One of the common reasons is that the battery is discharged, but the owner seems to have enough charge.

If you are sure that the charger is working, connect it for half an hour (you can connect it via a cable to the computer) and turn it on again.

If it turns on only before the apple, then pressing the “Sleep” and “Home” buttons for 10–15 seconds often solves the problem.

But unfortunately, firmware does not always solve the problem, since the cause may be hardware.

For example, the power button has become obsolete. Although you can’t call her fragile, there are problems with her.

The charging controller may also fail, the battery may expire, or the flash memory may fail (it changes, but it is comparatively expensive).

The worst thing is if problems arise with motherboard, because sometimes it’s better to buy a new iPhone than to mess with it (depending on what happened).

iPhone 5 won't turn on - contact a specialist

If the smartphone still does not turn on, this is a sign that external help will be imminent.

It often happens that the error turns out to be a common one, and fixing it takes a few minutes.

Therefore, if you do not want to deepen the defect or lose data on your phone, you should go to the service.

Not all problems are user error. Sometimes the phone does not work due to factory errors and faulty software.

I know from experience that when an iPhone does not want to turn on, the problem is most often related to the battery, a damaged charging connector, and a software error.

However, you can correct the last point yourself - Good luck.

The iPhone line is the most popular phones in the world, breaking all sales records. After purchase they become favorites. Agree, it will be unpleasant if one fine day your most beloved and expensive gadget stops turning on.

How to turn on iPhone 5s if it won't turn on? The solution to this problem will be discussed below.

Causes and solutions

Causes of malfunctioniPhone 5sthere can be many, but the most common:

Problems with the power controller

The power controller is an element that is responsible for charging and correct operation device batteries. The cause of failure may be a low-quality charger (cheap Chinese counterfeit of the original charger iPhone devices), dropping the phone, getting water inside.

The most interesting thing is that the failure of the power controller can be similar in symptoms to a battery failure, so many people buy a new battery. Imagine their surprise when the phone does not work even with a new battery! So, before doing anything, we strongly advise you to take the device to service center, they will determine the exact cause of the breakdown.

If the controller does break down, it needs to be carefully re-soldered. It’s better not to try on your own; you might damage the board, and it’s not cheap, especially for the iPhone 5s.

Water ingress

If you manage to drop your phone in water or some other liquid, experts recommend immediately putting the smartphone in a plastic bag or container, and then transferring the container with the phone to the nearest service center as quickly as possible. If the gadget stops turning on after getting wet, then the chances of it being repaired are minimal.

If there is no service center nearby, then do the following:

  1. immediately turn off the phone and take it to the service center without turning it on;
  2. check the moisture indicator. It is located in the headphone jack. If water gets inside, the color of the indicator will change from white to red;
  3. If you notice that the indicators are red, immediately remove them from the phone battery. To do everything correctly, we recommend watching training videos from professionals on the Internet.

If everything is done on time and correctly, then the chances of restoring your favorite phone increase significantly.

It is worth saying that after the water it will no longer be possible to profitably resell the phone, except to an ignorant person.

Voltage drops

Apple technology is very demanding on the quality of the incoming current; accordingly, their chargers are made in a special way and have a complex design and operating principle. If you don't charge original device, then even a small voltage surge can damage the smartphone.

When the voltage drops, the power controller mentioned above suffers. It can be replaced, the cost, thank God, is small, but an unpleasant aftertaste remains, and you don’t want to part with your favorite gadget for a long time.

The battery is old

A failed battery is another reason why the iPhone 5s won’t turn on. This happens rarely so far, since the phone went on sale relatively recently, but the further, the more often phone owners are faced with this problem. There is only one way out - replace the battery, you can’t do anything with it.

We recommend purchasing a new battery only from a licensed service center. Apple Center, so you can insure yourself against buying a fake. Before purchasing, be sure to take your phone for diagnostics to determine whether the problem is really in the battery. In official service centers, diagnostics are free.

If the battery, after charging, holds a charge less and less, and one day the device simply does not turn on, then the problem is 99% in the battery.

iPhone 5s won't turn on

There can be many reasons why the phone won’t turn on, and all of them relate not only to our today’s hero, the iPhone 5S.

Won't turn on due to broken charging connector

If the phone is discharged and does not turn on when charging, or does not react at all to connecting the cable, then most likely there is a problem with the socket. It breaks very rarely, but it gets clogged all the time. Those who just bought an iPhone 5S have not yet encountered this problem, but there is still more to come.

The connector becomes heavily clogged with dirt, fluff, and other debris, as a result of which the clogs block the charging and connector contacts and they no longer touch.

You can clean the connector with a regular toothpick, but it is not advisable; if you are careless, you can damage the contacts, and then you will have to replace the connector altogether, and this is already a considerable amount of money.

Much would be better suited a can of compressed air, but due to the fact that you only need to clean one phone, no one will buy it, except perhaps service centers. By the way, some service centers can clean the sockets with compressed air for a thank you; they value regular customers and want to have more of them.

It is also worth noting that if you charge with a non-original charger, it can deform the socket, after which standard charging will not work correctly.

After car charging

The problem is that some people don’t know how to choose the right car charger for their iPhone. People are trying to save money, so they buy the cheapest options, which are not always of at least average quality.

After using a low-quality charger, the following may fail:

  1. battery;
  2. charging connector;
  3. power controller;
  4. specific power supply circuit.

As you can see, small savings on charger can result in a decent amount of money for repairs.

If your phone stops turning on after using a low-quality car charger, there is nothing left to do but take it to a service center. There is no point in trying to determine the breakdown yourself, or, moreover, to repair the smartphone, since with inexperienced hands you can render the phone unusable.

After the firmware

iPhone is a very complex piece of technology; we do not recommend reflashing it yourself under any circumstances. If you make even a small mistake, you could end up with a phone that never rings again, or that never turns on again.

There are a lot of reasons why the iPhone 5S does not turn on after flashing, but there are three most common:

  1. The Nor Flash chip is broken. It is responsible for the normal operation of the GSM module. Without this chip, the smartphone will not make calls, since the settings of all operators in the country are saved in it. The problem is solved by replacing the microcircuit at a service center;
  2. The NAND Flash chip has failed. She is responsible for the safety of personal data, that is, programs, notes, contacts, photos, music, and so on. It can be solved, like the previous problem, by replacing the microcircuit at a service center.
  3. Wrong installed firmware. Take your phone to an official service center and have them install a normal, working and stable version of iOS.

Unsuccessful updates can also be attributed to this section.

After the fall

If your phone does not turn on after being dropped from a great height, take it to a specialist. There is no way to do this without diagnostics. If external damage does not have such a strong impact on operation, then internal damage is quite capable of completely destroying the phone.

The most popular internal breakdowns during iPhone falling 5S:

  1. damage printed circuit board;
  2. disconnection or damage to the cable.

In the first case, you cannot do without a specialist. Repairing a printed circuit board is very complicated; it is almost impossible for an unknowing person to get the necessary parts. As for the cable, it is enough to order an analogue of the damaged one and replace it. There is nothing complicated, you don’t even need to solder anything. In some cases, you can just put it in place and everything will work.

The most important thing is to watch the relevant master classes on the Internet before disassembling the phone, otherwise some elements may be seriously damaged.

After replacing the display

If the display is changed at a service center, then everything should be fine, but if you change it at home, on your own and without much experience working with Apple phones, then a problem can await you at any second. Something is slightly caught, and that’s it; when you try to turn it on, a “surprise” may await you.

iPhone 5s won't turn on, apple lights up

If, when you turn on your smartphone, it gives you the branded “apple” and does not want to boot further, this means only one thing – the firmware has failed. It is worth noting that in this case all your personal data from the phone will be lost. To prevent this from happening in the future, we advise you to constantly update backups. If the apple is on fire, your data is lost. This is to put it briefly.

There is only one solution - take it to a service center to restore the firmware.

In conclusion, I would like to say that no matter what problem happens to your beloved iPhone 5s, immediately take it to a service center! Do not try to fix the problem yourself, otherwise there is a high chance that you will have to buy a new phone.

Even if the breakdown seems insignificant, you should not take the risk, because the amount you plan to save may increase significantly to eliminate the breakdown after your repair.

September 19 (release date) released iOS 11, many have already managed to update, because so many different features have been announced. Some even thought that augmented reality would come to their 5S. It will be possible to run cool games, measure a person’s height - but figs! Let's not drag our feet and get straight to the hard stuff.

Battery life

Yes, iOS 11 eats up battery power like crazy. What's happened? Similar problems have happened before when we arrived iOS updates 7, 8, 9, 10 Then everything was resolved, but, for example, it seems to me that the most optimal power consumption was in iOS 6. Unfortunately, in the first build of the official release of the 11th version of iOS there is obvious problems with charge consumption - that's for sure. And keep in mind that on my iPhone everything is optimized for minimal consumption: geolocation services are disabled, sleep modes are configured, cellular data transfer is disabled when not necessary, only supported network types are selected (4G is not supported by the operator) and much more.

Games and programs won't launch

I was getting ready to play my favorite toy, which just the other day crashed, and I completed a bunch of puzzles, after six months of inactivity. In general, I launch it, and: “It is necessary to update such and such a game. The developer needs to update this program to make it work with iOS 11."
Well, that's it, the mood is ruined. The developer is unlikely to update, there isn’t even advertising, and I received it for free, it seems, as part of some wave of unprecedented generosity from Apple, which is called “on the ball.”

Switching speed

Yes, now my iPhone 5S starts up and reboots much longer than it did in the “dozens”. By the way, don’t forget that the “nine” worked even faster. Wow, we'll soon be waiting an hour for it to load. Although no, I’m kidding, the smartphone will not receive the next update at all.

The keyboard is slow

Thank you, of course, but at least on the first day of rolling out the update, the keyboard was glitching, wildly. The set of letters simply infuriated me; it felt like I had a cheap Android smartphone running Android 2.3 Gingerbread for $20. To tell the truth, I will say that after some time a cache was created and it became better, but the set is not ideal in any case.

Streaming

Wow, you guys are just crazy here. Now, instead of on-the-fly streaming, some kind of built-in player has appeared, which does not snatch the direct address from the player, but plays according to some unknown schemes. It has become worse to work because it takes longer to load, often glitches, and often does not play at all. I looked on the iPad, there is no such crap (there is an old iOS version). The same videos play normally.
And with some update on the “ten”, the ability to listen to videos from YouTube in locked screen mode has disappeared. Yes, what do you think when you do this?
Now you have to use the stupid UC Browser to listen in the background, normal, right?

That’s all, don’t forget that yesterday I published another article that reveals as many as 3 reasons why you should upgrade to iOS 11.
