What kind of memory card is Samsung Galaxy Note 3? Samsung Galaxy Note III – bigger, faster, more powerful

Xiaomi Mi Note 3- This is a very strange device. This is exactly how the community perceived him. I thought so too, until the smartphone fell into my hands. And in this review I will prove that the device is worthy of taking a closer look at it.

Disclaimer

I want to warn you right away that I will be comparing our hero with and throughout the entire review. Smartphones are like two peas in a pod with the first one, while the second one has a common name and origins in common.

I'm sure most will agree with me. For the rest, please don't worry.

Equipment

Either Xiaomi cannot decide on the style of its packaging, or the manufacturer had a desire to somehow distinguish Mi Note 3 from its other products.

In general, we find a box made of thick black cardboard. Inside, everything is exactly the same as in the Mi6 packaging (well, it started).

The most interesting among the components is a power supply with fast charging (charges the device up to 60% in 40 minutes) and a case. The latter is ordinary, ten-cent silicone slag, which you buy 10 pieces at a time on Ali. On the other hand, this will do for the first time.

Without case

Design

“And now I have Xiaomi Mi6 in my hand again! I missed you." — these are exactly the thoughts that arose in my head when I unpacked the smartphone, tore off the films and began to twirl the device in my hands.

I will not describe in detail all the nuances of the case. Everything here is exactly the same as what we saw in the spring. Therefore, I refer you to his review.

The only thing I will focus on now is the convenience of the grip (our hero has grown up), the fragility of the body, and at the same time there is good news on the display.

And this is our Xiaomi Mi6

Both smartphones (Mi6 and MN3) fit perfectly in the hand. It’s just that the Mi-6 is compact, and a new product from the category of smartphones, when it’s already a shovel, but it’s still convenient to use. Obviously not, with whom “neither here nor here.”

Since we have glass on both sides, the smartphone feels more secure in the hands than any other smartphone. Still, glass, even with a high-quality oleophobic coating (Mi Note 3 has it on both sides), clings to your palms better than polished metal.

But MN3 glides perfectly on any surface, even at a minimum angle of 1 degree. Here you have to be extremely careful - you left your smartphone on the sofa, and after 10 seconds it falls to the floor with a crash! I warned you.

Regarding the fragility of the case. Here's the real story of my friend. He was holding his Mi6 in his hands and accidentally dropped it to the ground from a height of 50 cm, no more. The case was not damaged, so the smartphone was hidden in a backpack out of harm’s way. After some time, a friend took the device out of his bag and discovered that the rear glass was covered with a web of cracks. Even small pieces of glass began to fall out.

Can the same be achieved with MN3? I don't know, but again, I warned you.

The third point that I personally was very pleased with is the large, 5.5-inch display from edge to edge. The side frames are minimal - about 2 millimeters. And the smartphone looks really fiery! Even if not Mi MIX 2.

I forgot to say about the colors. There will be only two of them: completely black and the same, but blue. The last one looks great in the renderings! However, I would not recommend taking it, because there is a chance you will quickly get tired of such a flashy appearance. And these golden frames around the perimeter... all this is doubtful.

Display

There's not much to say about the screen. Here we have a completely ordinary, high-quality IPS matrix with support for the NTSC palette at 94.4%. This means that the colors are as natural as possible, moderately rich and contrasting. In general, IPS panels have long since reached their peak and are no longer evolving. But, apparently, they are cheap for manufacturers.

It’s good that they abandoned OLED screens, because the MN2 had a matrix of disgusting quality. These were the ones in Samsungs from the time of the Galaxy S4. In addition, there were a lot of defects - some specimens could “boast” yellow spots.

The contrast ratio is 1500:1, and the brightness at maximum is 550 nits. As with other new products, the backlight slider can be reduced to a minimum value of 1 nit. In fact, this is just a beautiful number, because even in complete darkness, the eyes bulge, desperately trying to see something on the display with such backlighting. At least for me, not for a vampire.

Traditional photography viewing angles. Ta-da!

Characteristics of Xiaomi Mi Note 3

This is where I get really confused. I wanted to make the characteristics of our device into one list. Then I thought that we should compare it with its predecessor (). And then I remembered that the new product is very similar to Mi6. What to do? OK! Let's compare three devices at once.

It's funny that some parameters in the new product have deteriorated compared to its predecessor, for example, the type of built-in memory and battery. The autofocus on the front camera also disappeared, although they weren’t pleased with the Mi-6 either. There is no need to talk about the 3.5 mm port that left us. R.I.P.

Otherwise, the MN3 is almost completely inferior to the Mi6 presented this spring. Except again front camera- after all, the resolution has increased, and the individual dots on the matrix have become larger - no big deal.

Oh yes! Be careful, because the Chinese versions do not support the 20th LTE band. At least that's what the official website claims.

Navigation

Unexpectedly (for Qualcomm) the navigation was disappointing. I don’t know if this is a chipset problem or if the Xiaomi programmers got smart in my build (MIUI 9.1.2.0, official, Chinese), but with geopositioning everything is complicated here. It’s the cold and hot starts that are lame—I was constantly being thrown somewhere into the Atlantic Ocean, just below Côte d’Ivoire.

And the only utility that worked normally was Google Maps.

Performance

Oh, the smartphone has no problems with this! Yes, it may seem that you bought some kind of incomprehensible G..., because inside is not a top-end “snap”, but only a 660th one. However, this is a deep misconception. Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 is a very powerful chipset, because it consists of 8 Kryo 260 cores (the 835 has 8 280 cores), and Adreno 512 acts as an addition. It would seem, again, nothing, because the numbers are much smaller (512 vs Adreno 530 or 540).

However, in practice it turned out that the smartphone runs “Tanks” without any problems at maximum graphics settings with 60 FPS.

Moreover! During the 20 minutes of play, the frame rate never dropped. Do you need any more evidence that the device has a great potential for the future?..

There are also no problems in terms of animation and menu navigation. The feeling that you are using a flagship is 146 percent.

Cameras

Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is an amazing smartphone. It seems that according to the “paper characteristics” everything is clear with him. However, if you gape, he may suddenly surprise you. This time it came from the front camera.

Front camera

She's gone a long way here. Okay, not very much, but she left. Forward.

Rear cameras

In short, the quality of pictures taken with the main camera (12 megapixel Sony IMX386 with f/1.8 aperture) is exactly the same as in (right).

And the “mi-sixth” lathers even better. Perhaps in Mi6 the programmers simply managed to perfect the background blur and other algorithms, but haven’t gotten around to Mi Note 3 yet.

And Mi6, in turn, cannot compete in photo quality with this year’s flagships (, and so on). However, this is not surprising for Xiaomi. Never before have their smartphones been famous for their top quality images.

Yes, the camera takes good and sometimes even excellent pictures, but I still wouldn’t call the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 a camera phone.

The second camera (12 MP, S5K3M3 sensor, f/2.6) is needed for optical zoom. First of all. But I wouldn't recommend using it. Still, the telephoto camera (52 mm) is significantly inferior in quality to the main sensor with a 26 mm lens. It’s better to approach the object with your feet and remove it as expected.

I noticed another strange thing - you take three pictures at a time (this has long become a habit for me) and one will turn out 100% blurry. This is what it looks like... one archive.

Video recording

Once again I am convinced that video recording is never Xiaomi’s strong point. Everything seems to be not bad, but until you have seen what your competitors are capable of.

Stabilization works, but like a ninja, it’s not easy to notice traces of its activity.

Sound

There is only one multimedia speaker here - at the bottom end, to the right of USB port S. It is echoed by the conversational one, however, it is so quiet that it is only a stretch to call this whole thing a stereo effect.

The main speaker is loud - above average. But its quality is completely mediocre - there is absolutely no bass or a hint of it. Complex compositions merge into a noisy mess, but I still didn’t notice any extraneous wheezing. Already good.

The sound quality in the headphones is absolutely the same as in any other device from Xiaomi, that is, good.

Software

In my case, the smartphone worked on its native one, Chinese firmware. In other words, the system only had Chinese and English languages, and Google’s software was completely cut out.

Fortunately, all GAPPS started up with just a click and in the most standard way.

Go to the standard application store App Store from Xiaomi, enter the word “google” in the search bar, go to the “paw” icon, and download the installer application. It will just tighten everything up necessary services, and at the same time install the Play Market.

I didn’t try this trick on some of the latest devices from Xiaomi, but here everything went like clockwork. Even all my contacts have caught up. So the only stress is English language in the system and applications. Personally, it never bothers me, so I easily used the smartphone as my main one for a whole week. Even Android Pay started without problems

By the way, contactless payments won’t start with just a nickel. First of all, you need to go into the NFC settings and set “Use HCE Wallet”. Then everything will work as expected.

MN3 is one of the few smartphones from Xiaomi that had no problems with notifications. Well, there was practically none. The exception was Skype. On the other hand, this is already a terribly crooked utility that works disgustingly on other devices.

Autonomy

This smartphone can only be praised for this. In my case, the device lived quietly for a day and a half on one charge. At the same time, the screen was on (auto-brightness active) for 5.5-6 hours, two SIM cards were always installed, and I actively climbed websites and made my way through the navigator.

We thank the QS 660 processor and its 10-nanometer process technology for such autonomy.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 platform supports fast charging QC 4, however Xiaomi claims only the third version. In any case, “fast charge” is available and the battery reaches 60 percent of its charge in 40 minutes.

Bottom line

Xiaomi Mi Note 3 They criticize it when comparing it with Mi6. Like, why buy it when there has been a similar device on the market for a long time, but with a top-end processor. But I don’t agree!

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, on which our hero works, is very powerful and modern processor. And it is not a bit inferior even in the most difficult tasks to the top-end 835 “snap”. At least that's the case for now. We'll see what happens in the future.

In addition, the platform boasts all the modern features of the older chipset. Bluetooth 5.0, for example, is present in both platforms, but gigabit Internet, which only supports QS 835... Do you really not have enough speed in 4G+ networks? Well, seriously!

And in general! Why all this fuss when both smartphones cope with any task perfectly. With absolutely anyone! It’s just that Xiaomi Mi Note 3 has a larger display and it will be perfect for those who like the design of the “Mi-6”, but who were stopped by the small diagonal of 5.15 inches.

I also wanted to compare our hero with his predecessor (). I thought what was the point buy Xiaomi Mi Note 3, when for the same or even less money you can buy last year’s flagship with a curved screen. But as I remembered that poor OLED panel in Mi Note 2, the desire to recommend such a trick immediately disappeared.

Since the main news from Samsung last week was the announcement smart watch Samsung Galaxy Gear, this greatly distracted attention from another new product presented - Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Meanwhile, the new smartphone from Samsung also has a lot of interesting things.

This well-known big guy in the new modification has grown another 0.2 inches and now has Super AMOLED 5.7" diagonal display with Full HD resolution 1920×1080 pixels.
Inside there is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with clock frequency 2.3 GHz. The smartphone is equipped with as many as 3 GB. RAM Moreover, the main memory can be expanded using a microSD card. The battery capacity is 3200 mAh.
The Galaxy Note III weighs 168 grams and is 8.3 mm thick.

There is 13 megapixels on the back of the device. camera with LED flash. By the way, back panel covered with leather or leatherette (not yet clear), which is a rather original solution. However, there is a fear that such a coating will wear off very quickly. At the back there is also a compartment for a traditional stylus, with which you can write text and draw various pictures in a special application.
Now a little about software. The operating system installed on the Samsung Galaxy Note III smartphone is Android system 4.3 with TouchWith shell.
The Dropbox app is pre-installed on your smartphone. As part of the cooperation of this service with the company Samsung owners The Galaxy Note 3 comes with plenty of free storage and will automatically upload photos and videos to the cloud.
The S-Pen has been added to the stylus new feature Air Command, which allows you to control it without touching the screen. An interesting application called ScrapBook allows you to quickly save text and pictures by simply circling the desired piece of the page.
Smart Notes allows you to recognize handwritten text, distinguishing letters from numbers.
The smartphone will be available in three color variations for the rear panel - black, white and pink, but they promise to add additional colors over time.

In general, the smartphone is not much different from the previous Galaxy Note in design and functionality, but it has surpassed its predecessor in power. True, in order to draw final conclusions and write reviews on this matter, you must first test the smartphone or, as it is also called, a phablet, in operation.
Sales of the Galaxy Note 3 in Europe will begin at the end of September, and in Russia – approximately in October. The price of the smartphone is still unknown, but you can pre-order the smartphone today in the Sotmarket online store.

Deciding on the type of device (phone or smartphone?) is quite simple. If you need a simple and inexpensive device for calls and SMS, it is recommended to choose a telephone. A smartphone is more expensive, but it offers a wide variety of options: games, videos, the Internet, thousands of programs for all occasions. However, its battery life is significantly less than that of a regular phone.

Probably two years ago, when the bosses Samsung launched the very first Note with a diagonal of 5.3 inches, even in their wildest fantasies they could not imagine what a crazy stir their new product would cause. At that time flagship smartphones could boast screens with a diagonal of 4.3 inches, and a device with a 4.8-inch display was already considered gigantic (“And in general, how can you carry this in your pocket?” - they liked to say at that time).

The first Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 sold an insane number of copies all over the world - everyone who needed it was able to place it in their pockets, and they also said thank you to the manufacturer. Since then, the South Korean corporation, every year at the September IFA exhibition held in Berlin, presents an updated version of its now not the largest, but the most technically advanced smartphone. The main changes usually concern the hardware of the device and they begin with the words “we have increased here, here and here.” This was the case with the Galaxy Note 3 - with one remark: the company's designers have finally moved a couple of steps away from their standard design, which has migrated from one device to another more than once and is already quite boring.

⇡ Appearance and ergonomics

However, the main changes concern the rear panel. The “face” of the smartphone remains almost the same. The main area of the front panel is occupied by a giant 5.7-inch screen. The thickness of the side frames around it has decreased by 1.5 mm - 4 mm for the Galaxy Note II versus 2.5 mm for the Galaxy Note 3. Free space the area below and above the display has become smaller, due to which the dimensions of the new “Laptop” remain almost the same as those of its predecessor.

At first glance, distinguishing the third Galaxy Note from the second is not so easy - can you do it?

Because not so much rounded corners the smartphone looks more strict. The central key has lost a little in size, but due to the slightly protruding edge, it won’t be difficult to hit it with your finger blindly. On the sides of it, as before, are the touch keys “Menu” and “Back”, equipped with backlight and invisible without it.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (left, black) compared to iPhone 4s

The pseudo-chromed edging common to “Galaxies”, which slightly protrudes above the surface of the panel, has also not gone away. True, compared to how it was in the second Note, it is much “sharper”. The earpiece is still covered with a metallic mesh, to the right of it are the sensors and the front camera lens, and to the left is an indicator that glows in different colors depending on the event it wants to report.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is not that big in modern times

WITH back cover The company's designers are constantly experimenting. In the first two Galaxy Notes, the backs of the devices were quite ordinary - matte textured in the first and glossy in the second. In the third generation of the Note, the design idea has gone much further - the back cover has a coating that looks and feels vaguely like leather.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with the back panel removed

The solution is very much for an amateur. In our opinion, it would be much more appropriate if the back panel of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was not removable. After all, if you remove the panel - and this will have to be done at least to install a SIM card and memory card - cognitive dissonance involuntarily arises. After all, it’s obviously plastic, it doesn’t smell like leather—who were you trying to fool? Well, of course, anyone to whom you give a smartphone will first of all crawl under the cover - to find out whether this is really an elite skin of young polycarbonate. And he will definitely find out - it’s good if he doesn’t break the latches in the process.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - back panel and sides

The physical power and volume keys, located on the side faces, are shifted upward in the updated model, which greatly simplifies working with them. An IR port appeared on the top end, which the Galaxy Note II did not have, and the external speaker had to move to the bottom edge due to the new cover. Its location, interestingly, is very good - the speaker is not blocked by your hand, even if you hold the smartphone in landscape orientation. Next to it is a micro-USB 3.0 interface, which is compatible with standard micro-USB 2.0. By the way, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the first “wearable” gadget that supports latest version micro-USB The proprietary S Pen stylus is still nestled in the lower right corner.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - side texture

Another difference of the third Note is that the traditional chrome edging running along all sides has become corrugated. This is probably done so that the smartphone looks like notebook, and such a relief should resemble pages in it. It does look quite Asian, though.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - slots for microSIM and microSD cards

Under the back cover everything is completely normal - the main area under it is occupied by a 3200 mAh battery. The slots for MicroSD and micro-SIM cards are located underneath each other, with the former being hot-swappable and the latter not.

Comparison Samsung sizes Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy Note II and iPhone 4s

Despite the significantly more powerful hardware, the smartphone has become a little thinner and lighter than its predecessor. If you do not take into account the slightly protruding rear camera lens, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has lost more than a millimeter in thickness (9.4 versus 8.3 mm) and has become 15 grams lighter (183 versus 168 g). It’s nice that even such a large gadget monitors its figure and sheds extra millimeters and grams from one version to another.

⇡ Technical specifications

We have specifically combined those table cells in which the characteristics of SGN2 and SGN3 are the same. As you can see, there were very few of them: despite the external similarity, the new model has changed in almost all respects.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - information about the system and hardware

The situation with the prices of the Galaxy Note 3 is quite confusing. The fact is that the official, snow-white, recommended by the representative office Samsung price The 3G version of this device costs 34,990 rubles, traditional for a Samsung super-flagship product. Theoretically, if you go to a communications store or an electronics store of a large chain, you can see a price tag there with such an extremely inhumane figure.

It's almost unlikely that this will happen to you. Because MegaFon managed to agree with Samsung to sell this Galaxy Note 3 for 24,990 (at advertising banners you will see even more beautiful numbers- 21,990 rubles - but another 3,000 will have to be added to the account). For this price you will receive a device locked to the specified operator. And since MegaFon already has this super offer, all “gray” devices are sold at similar prices - about 22-25 thousand rubles, depending on the specific online store.

As for the LTE version of the Galaxy Note 3, then at the moment officially in Russia it is sold only by the same MegaFon - on exactly the same conditions as the 3G version, but a thousand rubles more expensive. It is not a problem to find “gray” smartphones on sale with LTE support for about the same money, but surprises are possible with them.
