Message Size Limits

Message size limits are required to prevent large message forwarding from affecting system performance and to ensure fast delivery to all users. Message size limit is a default global variable that applies to all messages, both incoming and internal. It is 25 MB.

Exchange Online provides restrictions on the number of messages and letters sent: messages can be sent from one mailbox to no more than 10,000 recipients, emails can be addressed to no more than 500 recipients per day. These limits are set for both internal and external correspondence.

Exchange Online customers who need to send correspondence by mail (for example, newsletters) should contact third-party providers of these services.

To prevent excessive system resource consumption, Exchange Online also limits the number of messages a user can send per minute to a maximum of 30 messages. If the limit is exceeded, Exchange Online will transmit the messages, but will adjust the delivery rate: they will be queued for sending on the server.

Installation

Before installing the ES server, you need to prepare AD. Active Directory contains most of the information that is associated with Exchange server 2003: contacts, accounts, configurations, attributes.

If you don't have a group managing the directory and don't plan on doing a large deployment, you can skip straight to the installer. He will be able to configure everything automatically. To work with AD, you need administrator rights.

In the unpacked ES folder, find the setup.exe file.
Open command line Windows.
Enter the command “[Setup File Path] /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms”.

To see the result of the work, go to the AD Service Interfaces editor. Find "Schema". Select the "rangeUpper" property. In “ms-Ex-Verision-Pt” the value for Microsoft Exchange server should be written (this is not the 2003 version of the program; the values can be found on the official Microsoft website).

Creation of domains

In order for ES to receive and send emails via POP3, SMTP, IMAP protocols, add users and work, you need to create a domain.

Log into the program console.
Go to Organization Configuration.
Open Hub Transport Server.
Section "Accepted Domains".
“Create domain” button.
In the window that opens, write a name. This could be the name of your company, area of activity. Or all together in any combination.

Open the Address Policies tab.
Click Create Policy (in the Actions list).

Settings

In IMAP 4, emails reside on the server. To access them you need the Internet.
POP3 stores messages on the recipient's side (computer, mobile device), but removes them from the domain. Once you download them to your PC, they will disappear from the domain. This protocol has its advantages. But users usually prefer IMAP.

Creating mailboxes

To add users and mailboxes, you need domain administrator rights.

Launch the management console.
Expand "Mailbox Configuration in Recipient".
"Create a box."

For User Type, select New.
A page will open with information that must be entered: employee’s full name; login(loginname); password.
In the next window, you need to fill in the “Alias” field (usually the same as your login).
Download the mailbox database and its policy.
Confirm and click "Create".

Open the Administration Center (ECP).
Click on the “Recipients” button (it’s in the top left).
Click on "Mailboxes".
Expand the list with the same name. To do this, click on the arrow next to the “+” (Plus) symbol.

After this, the mailbox can be connected to Outlook or another email program.
