It is very convenient to use Yandex disk to quickly transfer files to other people, and even between your PC, laptop and phone (cloud storage service). I uploaded a photo to it once (for example) - and they can be viewed from all devices that have Internet access. In addition, you can significantly save space in your phone's memory (many people often lack it) by setting up auto-upload of videos and photos to the cloud.
Add to this the ability to work with Word documents, Excel and Power Point online (without installing anything on a PC). It is very convenient!
I'm not talking about the fact that information on cloud drives is more reliably protected from various misunderstandings. (viruses, problems with file system, erroneous formatting, etc.) than on a classic HDD. Those. it makes sense to send some of the information to the cloud for backup(by the way, it can be done automatically, more on that later in the article).
Actually, in this article I wanted to show how all this can be quickly set up and used. I think the note will be useful to everyone who is still new to cloud drives.

Registering and logging into the drive [On Windows and Android]
In general, registration on the service is quite standard for such products. First, follow the link below to the official website of Yandex Disk and click the "Start Disk" button (see screenshot below).
Next, you need to specify your data: first name, last name, login, password and phone number. By the way, if you already have mail from Yandex (or you use other products of this company), then registration is faster (just log into your account, the link will be located above the registration form).
After registering, you can start downloading applications for Windows and Android (for accessing files on the disk and working with it).
For Windows
I do not give the entire installation process, because. the installation is standard (like other programs) and does not contain anything complicated (interesting).
After installing the application, a characteristic "Yandex disk" icon will appear on your desktop and in the system tray, see the screen below. By clicking on it, a window will open with all the files, folders
The window for working with disk files is no different from the classic explorer: all actions are similar. As a rule, creating, editing and deleting files and folders does not cause any difficulties even for novice users.
For Android
Installing the application on Android is also standard. It is enough to go to Google Play(link above) and click the install button.
After installation, open the application shortcut, enter the login and password (specified during registration), set the pin code (this is necessary so that no one except you can access the disk, even if you lose your phone), and woo-a-la - you're in the drive. See screenshots below.
How to increase free space on Yandex disk
In general, the allocated disk space is constantly changing (depending on different promotions, conditions, etc.): for example, several years ago I was given 10 GB during registration (it’s hard to predict how much they will give you at the time of registration).
Also, as a bonus, they give extra. a place for using the mailbox (in my case 9 GB), and for installing the application on the phone (32 GB). In total, in total, it turns out about 47 GB (which is quite enough for documents, photos, files).
If you need much more space, you can buy it for a small amount per month. In order to see the current rates: just open the "Yandex Disk" application and click on the "Buy more" link at the bottom of the window (see screenshot below).
For example, today the "extra" 100 GB costs only 67 rubles per month. If you need much more, for example, 1 TB, then you will have to fork out for 167 rubles / month.
How to upload files and photos to disk
On Windows
Usually this question is asked by people who have not yet worked with Yandex disk. In general, in fact, everything is very simple: first you need to open the disk (you can use the tray icon, see the screen below).
After a while, the files will be uploaded: in front of them you will see small green checkmarks (synchronized). See example below.
By the way, it is not necessary to launch the Yandex Disk application: for example, in Explorer (Windows 10) there is a link to a folder with a disk. It is enough to open the desired directory and copy the files to it (if you have synchronization enabled in the application settings, the files will also be sent to the cloud).
For automatic download photo on Yandex disk:
- start the application;
- then in the menu open the "Settings" tab;
- turn on auto-upload of photos over Wi-Fi (or select the option "On any network" if you use unlimited internet on the phone);
- now all photos will be automatically uploaded to Yandex disk. Even if something bad happens to your phone, you can quickly restore all your pictures. Reliable and convenient!
How to make files available for download by other users

How to set up auto-creation of a copy of my documents to a cloud drive (backup!)
Everything is quite simple. I'll take a look at the steps.
1) First, open the Yandex disk settings (for this you can use the tray icon, next to the clock. See the screenshot below).
2) Next, I immediately recommend that you go to the "Advanced" tab and check that synchronization is enabled (i.e. all created and modified files in your folder on your hard drive will be immediately uploaded to Yandex disk in auto mode (that is, duplicated )).
3) In the "Basic" tab, check that the program starts automatically. Then open the folder location setting.
4) See where the folder that will be synchronized with the cloud is located (if necessary, move it to another HDD partition).
5) Now open the explorer, right-click on the system folder "Documents" and open its properties. An example is below.

7) Personally, I named the folder "My Documents" in my own place, into which I moved the system "Documents". Now all files (photos, documents, videos, etc.) that fall into this folder will be automatically duplicated in the cloud drive!
8) It will be possible to work with the transferred documents, both in the directory located on the HDD, and by opening the Yandex Disk application. Conveniently!

You only need to go into it and enter the required data. From here you can access to folders and files, as well as configure the utility so that all photos and videos are immediately placed in the cloud, which will facilitate their transfer. At the same time, now photos and videos uploaded to the service from a mobile phone via auto-sync do not take up space in the cloud. 
Multiple ways to upload files

How to create Yandex Disk and enter your page
In fact, it is very simple, but still I will focus on simple things that new to cloud services are usually not fully understood. Let's summarize:

- You can also create a copy of a disk in the cloud on your computer (full or partial). To do this, you will need to install the special Yandex.Disk 3.0 program and mark those folders from the cloud that you want to synchronize with the folder created on your computer (laptop).
- On mobile devices, a copy of the entire Disk is not created - you can only upload it on the fly required files, or set up storage of some of them in the memory of your device.
- Remember that by deleting something from the Yandex Disk folder on your computer, you are simultaneously deleting it from the cloud. There is always tight synchronization. The reverse is also true - adding something to this folder by synchronization, it will also go to the cloud.

Mobile photos and videos from Yandex.Disk on your computer
Now let's see where to find these automatically downloaded image and video files from the phone to the cloud. Logically, in the cloud storage they should be in the “Camera” folder, but only an invitation to install the program on a PC lives there (it’s not clear why this is so?).
In general, you will find all the photos from your mobile in the "Photos" and "Recent" folders on the cloud. But that is not all. For example, it is very convenient for me to take pictures and screenshots on my mobile, and then automatically open them on a computer through a cloud service. I got used to it in Dropbox and I don’t want to wean it.
But here there are no problems. Yandex Disk perfectly knows how to synchronize everything merged from mobile gadgets with a specially created on your computer folder "Photos and videos from Yandex.Disk". Another thing is that this option is not enabled by default and it will need to be activated, along the way choosing the storage location for all this mobile junk.
To do this, right-click on the program icon in the tray and select "Settings". Go to the last tab and check the box "Copy photos and videos to your computer so they are at hand."
As soon as you check this box, you will be asked in a separate window select folder location(catalog) where all this stuff will be automatically loaded. Moreover, this folder should not at all be located inside the YandexDisk folder created during the installation of the program. Choose a location based on available computer space or other criteria.
When you click "OK" and "Apply", you will be asked if you want to immediately download the video and photo files already in the cloud that got there from your mobile gadgets.
Agree and the process will begin, and in the future you won’t have to worry about anything - the download of new media files will occur automatically.
How to use the Yandex.Disk program
However, we digress a little, because we were installing the Y.Disk application on our computer (or laptop). Before you start uploading your files to Yandex, you will need to log in (log in with your username and password).
Sharing files and folders via YandexDisk
All files uploaded to the cloud from the Yandex Disk folder you can make it public. Not even like that.
Any file or folder on your computer you can make it public. What does it mean? Well, you can send someone a link in an email, so here, they say, look at our vacation pictures. The opponent will receive this link and, by clicking on it, will calmly look at the photos (or any other files) shared by you in this way.
In fact, this will turn out to be an analogue of a file hosting service, but only without any restrictions on storage time.
In order to make any file on your PC public (even the one that is not in the YandexDisk folder), you will only need to right-click on it and select the item from the context menu "Copy the link on Yandex.Disk".
Immediately after that, in the lower left corner of the screen, you will see a message stating that the link to this file or folder has been copied to the clipboard and you can safely send it by mail, post it on a forum or on a social network.
It is noteworthy that so you can share not only files already in the Yandex Disk folder, but also any other files on your computer. As soon as you do this, they will automatically be uploaded to the cloud storage (the program icon in the tray will turn blue during the download), and you will receive a link that you can send to your friend, publish on the site, or do something else with it.
For example, this is what the page your opponent (to whom you sent the link to) will look like if you shared an entire folder of photos with him. He can view them right here (in the format of a photo gallery), and then, if he wants, he can download them to his computer (in one archive), or upload them to his cloud on Yandex disk.
This is how the presentation file that you made public may look like (again, it can be viewed or downloaded directly in the cloud).
Right click on the desired folder and select "Set up access"(see previous screenshot). I’ll warn you right away - don’t be scared if you see a whole list of people marked “Full Access” there (I was scared at first). It's just that Yandex pulls your contacts from the mail, and these are just preparations for sending an invitation and they have not yet been granted any access.
You must first send this person an invitation, after specifying what level of access you will grant him: Full (the ability to edit and delete) or View only. An invitation can be sent to any person - if only he had an Email. He will receive a similar letter to this very Email:
If this person has an account in Yandex, then after clicking on the link, he will automatically go to his Disk, accept the invitation and see there the folder that he was offered to share. If there is no account, then first you will have to create it, and only then, by clicking on this link, he will see the treasured daddy. Or will he not see?
He won't see until he presses the button "Accept invitation" on the left menu tab "Sharing". After that, the shared folder can be searched on the "Files" tab of the same left menu.
Everything, all that remains is to transfer office files there for collaboration or create them using the built-in Disk tools and save them in this shared folder. Voila.
What can be done by entering your page in Yandex Disk
Well, in general, it will be possible, without installing the Yandex Disk program, to upload files through your mail interface. When you enter it, you will see the "Disk" tab at the top. Actually, that's how I found out about this cloud service - I received an email with a link, by clicking on which I was tied up to try this miracle in action.
By clicking on this tab, you will get all the same options for managing your files in the cloud (uploading, storage accounting, moving, etc.) as when using a stationary program.
Even a little more - it becomes possible to contemplate the basket that takes place, as well as view objects that are in the public domain:
Files stored in the cloud, which are marked with black circles on the right, are published, i.e. available for download by everyone who knows the download link (personally, I often use Ya.Disk to upload files to it that need to be transferred to someone).
You can change the access status, as I already mentioned, using the context menu of a file or folder, called by right-clicking on the mouse. You can view a list of all shared files on the Sharing tab.
And the most delicious feature, which is available only in the Yandex cloud web interface, is, of course, the ability to view document versions and the ability to restore from one of these versions. For example, when editing a text file, you could inadvertently change (delete) something, and then save the file without noticing.
But if you have it stored (synchronized) in the cloud, then it's okay. Just go to disk.yandex.ru, go to the "Files" or "Last" tab, find this file and right-click on it. From the menu that opens, select "Change History".
In the window that opens, you will see all versions given file for the last two weeks (on a paid plan, changes will be stored for three months). Find the version you need using the date or simply by opening all of them in a row, and then restore it. Everybody.
Go ahead. Depending on their type, many of the files uploaded and stored in Yandex can not only be downloaded, but also viewed through the web interface. These are primarily text and Word documents, pictures, music files, and something else.
All the basic tools to upload, create, delete and download files are in plain sight. When downloading via the web interface, you will see 10 gigabyte limit, which is due to the imperfection of some browsers. To upload larger objects, you will have to use a desktop program that can pull up files weighing up to 50 GB.
Uploading files to this cloud is easy. dragging them with the mouse directly to the Yandex.Disk page opened in the browser, or by traditional digging into the bowels of your computer through the "Download" button in the upper left corner of the Yandex.Disk web interface.

And, conversely, the transfer of various text files, or a video on a smartphone so that there is something to do on the way to work (after all, at home you can also download via Wi-Fi without bothering with traffic).

I like everything so far and I have a week left to decide on moving from Dropbox to Yandex Disk. Why am I thinking of moving? Banal bullshit. Why pay three and a half times more for the same service.

- The mobile application is very similar both externally and functionally.
