Review of lg q6 16 gb black. Review of the inexpensive LG Q6a smartphone: a sleek, smaller and simplified version of the G6

Earlier this year, LG was the first to release its flagship LG G6 with a screen whose aspect ratio was 18:9 (2:1). A few months later, a model with almost the same display was shown by Samsung in Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. This month LG will release two more flagships LG V30 and LG V30 Plus. Samsung will show Samsung Galaxy Note 8. These future models will also have 18:9 displays. In September, Apple will show its smartphone, which, according to the latest data, will have an aspect ratio of 2.25:1 with a resolution of 2800x1242 pixels. This trend indicates that the usual 16:9 ratio screens will soon be used only in mid-range and budget models. While other brands are just picking up the trend, LG presented the first mid-budget smartphone with an ultra-wide 18:9 display – LG Q6. It is this smartphone that will be considered in detail.

We're reviewing the LG Q6α. He got 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of built-in storage. LG Q6 (3 GB RAM, 32 GB ROM) and LG Q6+ (4 GB RAM, 64 GB ROM). In addition to the minimum amount of RAM and storage, the LG Q6α does not have an NFC chip.

Equipment LG Q6

Inside the usual black box is the LG Q6 itself, a warranty card with instructions and a paper clip, a microUSB cable and charging block(5V, 1.2A). There is an empty place where apparently there should be headphones, but not for the Ukrainian market.

Design and ergonomics of LG Q6

The main feature of the LG Q6 is the display, which LG calls FullVision. The smartphone is very similar to its older model LG G6 and, in principle, is mini flagship. Looks a little smaller and much simpler. For example, the LG G6 in black looks more expensive, since the metal itself at the ends was not painted black. But this is visible only with direct comparison. In the hands of LG Q6 it gives a WOW effect at first.

The big disadvantage is the thick frames on the sides of the display - approximately 2.5 mm. Top of the display 8 mm, bottom 9 mm. Like the LG G6, the LG Q6 moved away from the fashionable 2.5D glass trend and installed a standard protective flat glass (Corning Gorilla Glass 3), slightly recessed into the body. The practicality of such a solution is much higher, and for many potential buyers this could be a plus. Display diagonal 5.5 inches.

The metal frame of the smartphone is made of 7000-series aluminum. LG specifically emphasizes the durability of the LG Q6. It will survive a fall flat surface from a height of 1.5 meters.

The back panel is covered with glossy plastic, which perfectly collects all fingerprints. At first it may seem that this is glass and due to this, the LG Q6 looks a little more expensive. The design is very similar to the LG G6, which had Gorilla Glass 5 on the back surface. Unfortunately, there is no talk of any expressiveness compared to the older model. The smartphone has one 13 MP module along with a flash, located in the upper left corner. At the bottom there is a fairly loud speaker.

There is nothing on the front panel except the display itself, the camera, the voice speaker and several sensors. The buttons on the LG Q6 are located at the bottom of the screen and are quite flexibly customizable. A total of up to 5 buttons can be installed. There are 6 to choose from. At the same time, you can change their location in any order.

On the right side there is a power button for the smartphone.

On the left is a volume key and 3 slots for 2 nano-SIM and microSD cards. Cards up to 2 TB are supported.

The second microphone is located on the top edge. On the bottom edge there is a main microphone, a headphone input and a microUSB connector.

The dimensions of the device are 142.5x69.3x7.9 mm, weight 163 g. These are dimensions comparable to 5-inch smartphones, and only the length will be several millimeters longer. The width of the display itself is identical to the 5-inch models, and the length is approximately 14 mm longer. Using LG Q6 is convenient. By reducing the side edges, it could easily become even more compact. At the same time, do not forget that the diagonal of this display is equal to the current popular standard of 5.5 inches. The iPhone 7 Plus, for example, is 1.5 cm longer, 8 mm wider and 25 g heavier.

Reaching the top of the display to lower the shutter is not difficult. You can also install a separate button for this. Even though I installed it, out of habit I still reached with my thumb towards the top edge of the screen.

Although the LG Q6 is rugged, it unfortunately does not receive any protection from water and dust.

Without the screen turned on, the smartphone looks austere, but not expensive. The rear glossy plastic panel, which at first can be mistaken for glass, looks modern, but one main camera and a single-color flash make it clear that this is a budget phone. It is also not clear from the outside that the smartphone uses good aluminum, since the metal is always painted in the color of the body. The exception is the LG Q6 in platinum.

LG Q6 is available in black, gold and platinum colors. The front part is always painted black. Although the matrix displays very deep blacks, it is much more effective to use light themes.

LG Q6 display

The LG Q6 has a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2160x1080 pixels (442 ppi). Since the screen here is main feature, then it was made of extremely high quality. There are no compromises. Excellent viewing angles from all sides. In the sun, colors almost do not lose contrast and brightness. Despite the fact that Full HD+ resolution is used here, and not QHD+, as in the older model, we can only talk about the lack of pixels per inch at 442 ppi when using a magnifying glass.

It is possible to adjust the display of each application individually. Available in 16:9 and 16.7:9 ratios. In both cases, the keyboard is always displayed and there are black bars at the top and bottom of the picture. In the first case they are wider. There is also an 18:9 ratio, which is actually why you buy the LG Q6. I recommend using it for games. You can always bring up the keyboard by swiping your finger from bottom to top. There you will also be given the opportunity to change the ratio of the displayed image. The application will reboot.

The same applies to video. But it turned out that it is not so easy to find YouTube video with an aspect ratio of 21:9. Most trailers already come with black bars for 16:9 screens. As a result, we get black stripes on all sides. There is no such problem with downloaded films.

There is no ability to constantly display the time and other notifications, like the LG G6. Although both smartphones use an IPS matrix that is not the most economical for these purposes.

But it is possible to unlock the screen using the owner’s face. Just look at the LG Q6 and the screen is unlocked. Sounds better than it works. The unlocking itself is very fast. But not always. Doesn't work in the dark. It almost doesn't work in low light. It may not work during the day. The fingerprint scanner is more stable, but it won’t surprise anyone. When entering a PIN code, if the face is not recognized, not everything is smooth either. After entering the password, you need to click on the check mark. I'm already used to the fact that the login occurs automatically as soon as I entered the last correct character. A small thing, but important.

LG Q6 Platform and Performance

The heart of the LG Q6 is Qualcomm Snapdragon 435. This is an eight-core 64-bit processor with Cortex-A53 cores, with a maximum clock frequency 1.4 GHz. The Adreno 506 is responsible for video. A lot of good things can be said about this processor, but it is definitely a budget solution, and it’s strange to see the Snapdragon 435 in a mid-budget device. It can be called the most weak point in LG Q6.

Android 7.1.1 with branded shell from LG. Bluetooth 4.2. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. It takes less than 3 seconds to determine your location using GPS when cellular and Wi-Fi are turned off.

Snapdragon 435 cannot be called cold. While playing games, holding a smartphone in your hands is not pleasant. But the processor is located on the left side, almost in the middle of the case. It is enough to turn the LG Q6 to the right rather than to the left and it will be much more comfortable to use. The main heating zone will not be affected.

In synthetic tests, the LG Q6 with Snapdragon 435 does not show impressive results, as expected. But still, a smartphone cannot be called unplayable. You will be able to run any game from Play Market with good fps, but not always with good graphics settings. No freezes were noticed. He performs all daily tasks more than perfectly.

About 8 GB of internal memory will be available. By modern standards, this is extremely small, so it’s very good that there is a separate slot for microSD.

LG Q6 interface

Compared to the LG G6, there have been no significant changes. I won’t describe it in detail. Let me just say that the system works quickly and smoothly. It did not cause any complaints during operation, despite the impressive screen resolution with a budget processor.

In the display settings, you can enable night mode, which is called “Comfort Viewing” here. Unfortunately, no automation is provided. In the “App Scaling” section, you can adjust the screen size for each application.

It is worth paying attention to the ability to work with two applications simultaneously. This mode, of course, will not be available for most games and cameras. But it won’t be difficult for you to run Word with a translator or several instant messengers on one screen. Of course, many smartphones can boast of this functionality. But they do not implement this for such a wide range of applications and are not so convenient.

Cameras LG Q6

As for the average person, the cameras shoot objectively accordingly. The main 13 MP camera pleased with the work of the digital image stabilizer. Shots well during the day. At night noises appear and the edges begin to blur. In general, the picture is standard for this type of device. Aperture f/2.2.

Both cameras can record video at maximum Full HD resolution with stereo sound. Below is an example of recording video with the main camera.

There is support for HDR mode. To take advantage of such a wide screen, LG offers a “Square” photo mode.

Musical component of LG Q6

Since the LG Q6 is a mini-flagship of the LG G6, it did not receive a DAC as expected. But there is a 3.5 mm jack, and it is located on the bottom edge. In addition, the device supports playback FLAC format. I would describe the sound quality as very good, and the maximum volume is more than sufficient. Listening to music on headphones with the volume turned up to maximum is physically unpleasant.

The external speaker of the LG Q6 is quite loud, but there is not even a hint of low frequencies.

When you connect headphones, you can listen to the radio.

In general, apart from the lack of a DAC, the music component of the LG Q6 is at the level of the LG G6.

Autonomy LG Q6

The LG Q6 has a 3000 mAh battery, which is enough for it. In the Work 2.0 application, the smartphone was discharged in 7 hours and 44 minutes at 70% display brightness from 100% to 20%. This means that if you spend at least 30% of your time at work, the device can last 1 day. When playing games, you should expect at least 4-5 hours of use on the LG Q6.

The LG Q6 charges in about 2 hours. There is no fast charging.

Conclusion:

It is worth understanding that at the moment is the only mid-budget smartphone (6999 hryvnia from official dealers) with an 18:9 display on the market. Its processor may seem weak; for some, a second main camera or RAM may not be enough. But if you want an interesting mid-budget smartphone that stands out from hundreds of other devices, then there is simply no choice. All disadvantages, most of them minor or corresponding to the A-brand price. They disappear within a day of using the device.

The LG Q6 series of smartphones, the younger brothers of the flagship G6, has been presented on the world market for several months, including Russia. But now, with the increased popularity of new color solutions flagship model LG V30+, the company introduced for Russian users and other models, in particular the LG G6 and LG Q6, in the popular colors of the year - purple, as well as blue, inspired by the Moroccan painting in the city of Chaven. True, only the LG G6 and LG Q6+ models received it, and the youngest model LG Q6a was deprived of such an update. And yet, users continue to believe that the Q6a is the most interesting device in this series, since it has almost the same characteristics as the older models, with the exception of the presence of an NFC module and support Android Pay. We will tell you more about this smartphone today.

Appearance and ease of use

The LG Q6a is similar in shape to the flagship G6, but it is smaller in size and uses different rear wall materials. From the front it's just the same G6, just a little smaller. There are no complaints about the appearance: the device is small, sleek, with a neat design and a pleasant-looking streamlined body that goes well with the curves at the corners of the screen. The smartphone looks, if not more expensive than its price, then certainly not cheap.

The back panel here is not made of glass, but of plastic, but it has exactly the same shape - with curved edges. The plastic is glossy, very easily soiled and slippery, and it also quickly becomes covered with scratches, which are clearly visible on it.

The side frame here is metal (strong 7000 series aluminum alloy) and is very slippery to hold in your hands.

The main thing that needs to be noted in the design and ergonomics of the case: LG Q6a is currently one of the most convenient Android smartphones in terms of the combination of dimensions and display area. The very small case accommodates a high-quality IPS display with a diagonal of 5.5 inches and an aspect ratio of 18:9. However, you need to understand that, of course, this screen is smaller than the currently standard 5.5-inch with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

The camera module on the back side almost does not protrude beyond the surface, but due to the sloping back wall, the smartphone sways when you touch the screen and lies unsteadily on the table.

The smartphone does not have a fingerprint scanner at all. Obviously, the manufacturer completely relied on such a modern secure unlocking method as facial recognition.

Mechanical buttons are located on both sides of the case, this is less convenient, and most manufacturers have long ago decided that it is better to install both buttons (power and volume) on one side. On the other hand, it is surprising that the power button on the LG smartphone is not on the back at all, but on the side. The keys themselves are large, somewhat harsh, and have a clear response.

The front panel is completely covered with flat protective glass without sloping edges. They forgot to install it above the screen LED indicator events, which is saddening - it would certainly be more convenient with him.

There are no dedicated hardware buttons at the bottom below the screen, the buttons are only on the screen, and free space LG has decorated the front panel with its own logo.

The card slot is double: a memory card can be installed here without having to remove one of the two Nano-SIM format SIM cards, this is convenient. The smartphone supports memory cards up to 2 TB (applications, however, are not installed on the card).

The top end is not completely empty; here you can see the hole for the second microphone.

At the bottom end there is a Micro-USB connector, a conversational microphone and a 3.5 mm audio output for headphones. Surprisingly, the main speaker here is placed on the back side of the case in the old-fashioned way, so the sound of a smartphone lying on the table is muffled.

LG Q6a is available in three colors: gold, black and blue-gray, which the company dubbed “platinum”. The front panel does not match the color of the body; it always remains black. The smartphone did not receive protection from dust and moisture.

Screen

LG Q6a is equipped with an IPS display covered with flat glass without sides or sloping edges. This is the so-called “FullVision” (a completely meaningless combination of words invented by marketers) with an aspect ratio of 18:9, a diagonal of 5.5 inches and a resolution of 1080x2160, physical dimensions are 124x62 mm. The side parts of the frame around the screen are not too thin, almost 3.5 mm each, but the upper and lower segments of the frame are only about 9 mm high.

It is possible to use automatic brightness adjustment based on the operation of the ambient light sensor. Multi-touch tests diagnose support for 10 simultaneous touches.

Detailed examination using measuring instruments conducted by the editor of the “Monitors” and “Projectors and TV” sections Alexey Kudryavtsev. Here is his expert opinion on the screen of the sample under study.

The front surface of the screen is made in the form of a glass plate with a mirror-smooth surface that is scratch-resistant. Judging by the reflection of objects, the anti-glare properties of the screen are better than those of the screen (hereinafter simply Nexus 7). For clarity, here is a photograph in which a white surface is reflected in the switched off screens (on the left - Nexus 7, on the right - LG Q6a, then they can be distinguished by size):

The LG Q6a's screen is slightly darker (its brightness in the photo is 111 versus 121 for the Nexus 7). The ghosting of reflected objects in the LG Q6a screen is very weak, this indicates that there is no air gap between the layers of the screen (more specifically, between the outer glass and the surface of the LCD matrix) (OGS - One Glass Solution type screen). Due to the smaller number of boundaries (glass/air type) with very different refractive indices, such screens look better in conditions of intense external illumination, but their repair in the case of cracked external glass is much more expensive, since the entire screen has to be replaced. On the outer surface of the screen, there is a special oleophobic (grease-repellent) coating that is more effective than that of the Nexus 7, so fingerprints are removed much more easily and appear at a much lower speed than with regular glass.

When manually controlling brightness and when outputting white field full screen the maximum brightness value was about 470 cd/m², the minimum - 3 cd/m². The maximum brightness is high, and given the excellent anti-glare properties, screen readability even on a sunny day outdoors should be at an acceptable level. In complete darkness, the brightness can be reduced to a comfortable value. There is automatic brightness adjustment based on the light sensor (it is located to the left of the front speaker slot). The operation of this function depends on the position of the brightness adjustment slider; with it, the user can try to set the desired brightness level in the current conditions. If you leave everything at default, then in complete darkness the auto-brightness function reduces the brightness to 8 cd/m² (dark), in an artificially lit office (approximately 550 lux) it sets it to 160 cd/m² (normal), in a very bright environment (corresponding to lighting on a clear day outdoors, but without direct sunlight - 20,000 lux or a little more) increases to 470 cd/m² (as needed). We were not entirely satisfied with the result, so in complete darkness we slightly increased the brightness, resulting in the following values for the three conditions indicated above: 13, 200, 470 cd/m² (a good combination). It turns out that the auto-brightness function works adequately and allows the user to customize their work to individual requirements. Only at very low brightness levels does significant backlight modulation appear, but its frequency is high, about 2.3 kHz, so there is no visible screen flicker and can hardly be detected in a test for the presence of a stroboscopic effect.

IN this smartphone An IPS type matrix is used. The microphotographs show a typical IPS subpixel structure:

For comparison, you can familiarize yourself with those used in mobile technology.

The screen has good viewing angles without significant color shift even with large viewing deviations from perpendicular to the screen and without inverting shades. For comparison, here are photographs in which identical images are displayed on the LG Q6a and Nexus 7 screens, while the screen brightness is initially set to approximately 200 cd/m², and the color balance on the camera is forcibly switched to 6500 K.

There is a white field perpendicular to the screens:

Note the good uniformity of brightness and color tone of the white field.

And a test picture:

Colors on the LG Q6a's screen have natural saturation (although there may be a slight exaggeration color contrast), the color balance between the Nexus 7 and the tested screen is noticeably different.

Now at an angle of approximately 45 degrees to the plane and to the side of the screen:

It can be seen that the colors did not change much on both screens, but on the LG Q6a the contrast decreased to a greater extent due to the greater brightening of blacks.

And a white field:

The brightness of the screens at an angle has decreased (at least 5 times, based on the difference in shutter speed), but the LG Q6a's screen is still a little brighter. When deviated diagonally, the black field brightens greatly and acquires a greenish tint. The photographs below demonstrate this (the brightness of the white areas in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the screens is the same!):

And from another angle:

When viewed perpendicularly, the uniformity of the black field is poor:

The contrast (approximately in the center of the screen) is high - about 1200:1. The response time for the black-white-black transition is 19 ms (10 ms on + 9 ms off). The transition between halftones of gray 25% and 75% (based on the numerical value of the color) and back takes a total of 34 ms. The gamma curve, constructed using 32 points with equal intervals based on the numerical value of the shade of gray, did not reveal a blockage either in the highlights or in the shadows. The power function fit exponent is 2.46, which is higher than the standard value of 2.2, so the image is slightly darkened. In this case, the real gamma curve deviates little from the power-law dependence:

This device has a dynamic adjustment of the backlight brightness in accordance with the nature of the displayed image. As a result, the resulting dependence of brightness on hue (gamma curve) may not correspond to the gamma curve of a static image, since the measurements were carried out with sequential display of shades of gray on almost the entire screen. For this reason, we carried out a number of tests - determining contrast and response time, comparing black illumination at angles - (however, as always) when displaying special templates with a constant average brightness, and not monochromatic fields in the entire screen. It should be noted that in this case, brightness correction is weakly expressed and has a not entirely obvious dependence on the statics and dynamics of the image, but it would be better not to have it at all.

Color gamut is close to sRGB:

The spectra show that the matrix filters moderately mix the components with each other:

As a result, primary colors have natural saturation.

The balance of shades on the gray scale is a compromise, since the color temperature is high, but the deviation from the blackbody spectrum (ΔE) is below 10, which is considered an acceptable indicator for a consumer device. At the same time, at least the color temperature does not change much from shade to shade - this has a positive effect on the visual assessment of color balance. (The darkest areas of the gray scale can be ignored, since there is no color balance of great importance, and the error in measuring color characteristics at low brightness is large.)

In the settings, you can reduce the intensity of the blue component or even enable black and white mode.

Let us remind you that “comfortable viewing”, “eye fatigue” or even “vision protection” are all entities invented by marketers and have nothing to do with reality. The only thing that can help in theory (but not in practice) is reducing the intensity of the blue component. Given the ability to reduce screen brightness to a very low value in the case of the LG Q6a, the “comfortable viewing” function, even in theory, has zero value. Maybe you can use it to even out the color balance? No, unfortunately, lowering the color temperature leads to a significant increase in ΔE:

Blue filter White brightness, cd/m² Color temperature, K ΔE
Short 450 7250 12,8
Average 390 6230 11,6
High 370 5680 11,7

To summarize: the screen has a fairly high maximum brightness and has excellent anti-glare properties, so the device can be used outdoors even on a sunny summer day without any problems. In complete darkness, the brightness can be reduced to a comfortable level. It is acceptable to use a mode with automatic brightness adjustment, which works adequately. The advantages of the screen include the absence of an air gap in the layers of the screen and visible flicker, high contrast, and sRGB coverage. Significant disadvantages include low black stability in response to gaze deviation from perpendicular to the screen plane, poor uniformity of the black field and non-disabled dynamic adjustment of the backlight brightness. However, taking into account the importance of characteristics for this particular class of devices, the screen quality can be considered high.

Camera

The smartphone has one selfie camera module; it has only a 5-megapixel sensor, the lens has an f/2.2 aperture, and there is no flash or autofocus. In addition, LG intervenes quite aggressively in software post-processing: if you compare, for example, with selfie shots of the recently tested 13-megapixel front camera Honor 9 lite, here, of course, the detailing is noticeably lower, and the noise reduction works more aggressively. However, on the screen of the smartphone itself, LG Q6a photos look better, and this is the main thing for selfies. Unnatural redness of the skin, like Honor smartphone, is not visible in the photographs, but small details (fur fibers, stripes on a scarf) are drawn even brighter and more clearly. In the evening and at artificial lighting The camera also works quite well.

The rear camera is also single, with a 13-megapixel matrix. There is thoughtful autofocus and a medium-brightness flash. Separate manual mode no, the modes here are generally sparse (auto, panorama, and stage for photographing food). Enabled by default automatic mode HDR. It is possible to control with gestures and voice; as usual for LG, you can get a square frame. There is no standard option to save pictures in RAW.

The camera can shoot video in a maximum resolution of 1080p at 30 fps. There is electronic stabilization, which works generally well and makes the image much smoother when shooting handheld on the move. Of course, it cannot be done without jelly-like distortions, which the work of the electronic stabilizer inevitably leads to, but here these effects are barely noticeable. However, in general, the picture quality does not shine; the image is loose and dark. The sound is recorded quite clearly, the microphones are sensitive, and the noise reduction system works adequately.

  • Video No. 1 (43 MB, 1920×1080@30 fps, H.264, AAC)
  • Video No. 2 (27 MB, 1920×1080@30 fps, H.264, AAC)
  • Video No. 3 (34 MB, 1920×1080@30 fps, H.264, AAC)
  • Video No. 4 (46 MB, 1920×1080@30 fps, H.264, AAC)

The camera begins to lose details already in medium plans, although with such a resolution and excessive software processing this is quite logical. Surprisingly, the camera is sometimes not so bad at shooting in low light. The camera also copes well with text and macro photography, so it is quite suitable for documentary shooting.

Telephone and communications

The network capabilities of the LG Q6a are at a minimum satisfactory level. True, all three FDD LTE Cat.6 frequency bands used in Russia are supported (Band 3, 7, 20), but the Wi-Fi module supports only one band (2.4 GHz), and the absence NFC module with global development convenient technologies contactless payment is completely frustrating.

Within the city limits of the Moscow region, the smartphone works stably in the networks of domestic operators, confidently maintains the 4G network, and quickly restores communications after a break. To sensitivity Wi-Fi module There were also no special complaints.

The navigation module works with GPS (with A-GPS), and with the domestic Glonass, and the Chinese Beidou. During a cold start, the first satellites are detected quickly, within the first minute. The device has a magnetic compass, necessary for navigation programs.

The phone application supports Smart Dial. Settings for sorting and displaying contacts in phone book standard for Android. In the conversational dynamics, the interlocutor's voice is intelligible, there is a volume reserve, but not enough to reduce the level from the maximum. Vibration alert is more powerful than average. There is support for VoLTE.

Thanks to its relatively new platform, the smartphone can support both SIM cards in 3G/4G mode simultaneously in active standby mode. That is, a SIM card can be in active standby in 3G, even if another card is assigned to transfer data in 4G. Cards work in Dual mode SIM Dual Standby, there is only one radio modem. To designate a SIM card as the primary one for voice calls and SMS, the standard button is used in the panel at the bottom of the screen.

Software and multimedia

As software platform LG Q6a uses Google Android 7.1 with its own proprietary shell and the ability to update over the air. In terms of menu design and organization, users familiar with LG smartphones will not discover anything new: both the appearance and the internal arrangement have not changed dramatically for a long time. The signature touch is in place - the settings menu is divided into several tabs, there is a multi-window mode with the ability to undock each window and change its size. The functionality of the “quick button” has not been forgotten: if you quickly press the volume down button twice, you can, for example, call up the camera.

It is worth noting that not all tested games use " Full screen mode 18:9." That is, in some places there are no black stripes on the sides initially, but in others you will have to call up the menu and change the aspect ratio for full-screen display. In this case, the application will naturally restart.

We also repeat that this smartphone does not have a fingerprint scanner at all, but it does add the ability to unlock using facial recognition. Having tested this functionality many times, we can say that it is, of course, not able to fully replace fingerprint unlocking in all cases. In ideal conditions, where the lighting is bright and there is no need to wear hats and hoods, it works. But Russian weather realities are such that the sun is constantly hidden in our country, and the cold forces us to wrap ourselves in warm clothes. In this case, as soon as you change some detail, the smartphone ceases to recognize the owner by face. By the way, the proprietary Smart Lock function saves the day.

To listen to music, you use, as usual, your own audio player with a familiar interface. Its distinctive feature is the ability to manually change the speed and tone of playback. Interestingly, here, unlike other LG smartphones, there is no option to select an equalizer preset, which is a bit surprising.

In headphones, the smartphone sounds quite good for its level. This, of course, is not a top-end or audiophile level, but the sound seemed thicker, richer and brighter than most smartphones of this level. But there is nothing to praise the sound of the main speaker; the sound is flat, ringing and squeaky. The only good thing, perhaps, is that the volume is sufficient, but it’s bad that the speaker was moved back.

The microphones have good sensitivity, the voice recorder is quite suitable for any task. His work in lectures was tested separately, and his notes were recognized perfectly. Built-in FM radio is also present.

Performance

LG Q6a uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 single-chip system as a hardware platform, made using outdated 28-nanometer technology. This SoC includes eight 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 cores with a frequency of 1.1 to 1.4 GHz. The Adreno 505 GPU with a frequency of up to 650 MHz is responsible for graphics processing. The amount of RAM is 2 GB, and the built-in flash memory is 16 GB. Of these, no more than 8.5 GB of storage and 600 MB of RAM are free.

It is possible to expand the memory by installing microSD cards(up to 2 TB), and for this you do not have to remove one of the SIM cards. However, applications are not installed on the card; it is suggested to format it only as a portable storage device. It is also possible to connect external flash drives in USB OTG mode.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 is a relatively new SoC designed for mid-range smartphones, but in terms of performance it clearly does not match this level. The SoC replaced the Snapdragon 430 and is now an intermediate solution in the mid-segment between the quad-core Snapdragon 425 and the eight-core Snapdragon 625.

Although the SoC is not very powerful in terms of performance (it is rather the lower level), it nevertheless uses the X8 LTE modem, which supports LTE Cat.6, and the Adreno 505 graphics accelerator supports the OpenGL ES 3.1+ API. By the way, in terms of performance the Snapdragon 435 is no different. better Snapdragon 430, since the CPU part is the same.

In version 7 of AnTuTu, the smartphone produces only 46K points, which is noticeably below the average level. Snapdragon 435 is slower than other popular ones at the moment mobile platforms similar class, such as MediaTek MT6755, Kirin 659 and especially Snapdragon 625.

However, in real use scenarios, this SoC is still enough to perform basic tasks, you can even play games. Mortal Kombat X and Injustice 2 slow down, simpler games run more smoothly. In general, the hardware power here is at a barely satisfactory level; there is absolutely no reserve for future updates.

Testing in comprehensive tests AnTuTu and GeekBench:

For convenience, we have compiled all the results we obtained when testing the smartphone in the latest versions of popular benchmarks into tables. The table usually adds several other devices from different segments, also tested on similar latest versions benchmarks (this is done only for a visual assessment of the obtained dry figures). Unfortunately, within the framework of one comparison it is impossible to present the results from different versions benchmarks, so many worthy and relevant models remain “behind the scenes” - due to the fact that they once passed the “obstacle course” on previous versions of test programs.

Browser cross-platform tests:

As for benchmarks for assessing the speed of the javascript engine, you should always make allowance for the fact that their results significantly depend on the browser in which they are launched, so the comparison can only be truly correct on the same OS and browsers, and this is possible during testing not always. For Android OS, we always try to use Google Chrome.

Thermal photographs

Below is a thermal image rear surface obtained after 10 minutes of battery testing in the GFXBenchmark program:

Heating is more localized in the upper left part of the device, which apparently corresponds to the location of the SoC chip. According to the heat chamber, the maximum heating was 38 degrees (at an ambient temperature of 24 degrees), which is not very much.

Playing video

To test omnivorousness when playing video (including support for various codecs, containers and special features, for example subtitles), we used the most common formats, which make up the bulk of the content available on the Web. Note that for mobile devices it is important to have support for hardware video decoding at the chip level, since it is often impossible to process modern options using processor cores alone. Also, don't expect mobile device decoding everything, since the leadership in flexibility belongs to the PC, and no one is going to challenge it. All results are summarized in a table.

Further testing of video playback was performed Alexey Kudryavtsev.

We did not find the MHL interface, like Mobility DisplayPort, in this smartphone, so we had to limit ourselves to testing the output of video files on the screen of the device itself. To do this, we used a set of test files with an arrow and a rectangle moving one division per frame (see “”). Screenshots with a shutter speed of 1 s helped determine the nature of the output of frames of video files with various parameters: the resolution varied (1280 by 720 (720p), 1920 by 1080 (1080p) and 3840 by 2160 (4K) pixels) and frame rate (24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 fps). In the tests we used the MX Player video player in the “Hardware” mode. The test results are summarized in the table:

Excellent 720/24p

Great No

Note: If in both columns Uniformity And Passes Green ratings are given, this means that, most likely, when watching films, artifacts caused by uneven alternation and frame skipping will either not be visible at all, or their number and visibility will not affect the viewing comfort. Red marks indicate possible problems related to the playback of the corresponding files.

According to the frame output criterion, the quality of playback of video files on the screen of the smartphone itself is very good, since frames (or groups of frames) can (but are not required) be output with uniform alternation of intervals and without skipping frames. When playing video files with a resolution of 1080p (1920 by 1080 pixels), the image of the actual video file is displayed exactly along the narrow border of the screen (in landscape orientation) in the original Full HD resolution. The brightness range displayed on the screen corresponds to the standard range of 16-235: all gradations are displayed in shadows and highlights.

Battery life

Fixed battery LG Q6a has a capacity of only 3000 mAh. The smartphone does not demonstrate high performance in terms of battery life; everything here is at an average level. In real conditions, the smartphone survives until the evening charge, nothing more.

Testing has traditionally been carried out at the usual level of power consumption without using power saving functions, although the device has them.

Battery capacity Reading mode Video mode 3D Game Mode
LG Q6a 3000 mAh 11:20 am 9:00 a.m. 4 hours 30 minutes

Continuous reading in FBReader program(with a standard, light theme) at a minimum comfortable brightness level (the brightness was set to 100 cd/m²) it took more than 11 hours until the battery was completely discharged, and when continuously watching videos in high quality(720p) with the same brightness level through home network The Wi-Fi device operates for up to 9 hours. In 3D gaming mode, the smartphone can work up to 4.5 hours.

There was no charger included with the copy sent to us for testing, but from a regular network adapter with an output current and voltage of 2 A 5 V, the smartphone is charged within 2 hours with a current of 1 A. Wireless charging not supported.

Bottom line

Sales of LG Q6a in official Russian retail have already started: the smartphone is now presented at a price of 15 thousand rubles, which is quite good for Russian price realities, especially considering the advanced for such price category display with a fashionable aspect ratio. Otherwise, however, there is nothing particularly to praise this simple smartphone for: it could have at least been installed in it with a slightly more powerful processor, but this is completely sad. There is no point in complaining about the small amount of memory: its volume in the Q6a was artificially limited in order to somehow separate almost identical modifications from each other. Sound, communication capabilities, level of autonomy, cameras - everything in the device is at a satisfactory level, but closer to the lower limit. And yet, because of the gorgeous display, the smartphone is worth paying close attention to if you like the best value for money.

However, time has shown that this technical solution quickly caught on, and now it is even considered an advantage. LG did not limit itself to only the top-end device, but also released the budget Q6 with a display of this format. This makes it possible more people make an assessment of this unusual screen based on their experience. The LG Q6 is a highly simplified version of the flagship, but it still looks tempting. We'll find out in the review whether the new product offers us anything else noteworthy besides the unusual screen.

Packaging and equipment

The device arrives at points of sale in a matte black box made of high-quality cardboard. After opening the lid, we see the hero of our review, enclosed in a shipping bag. The internal contents were not surprising, a typical budget set:

  • SIM tray opening key;
  • network adapter 5V/1.2 A;
  • cable for microUSB connector;
  • instructions.

Design and materials LG Q6

Compared to its “big brother” LG G6, the smartphone we are considering today looks faded. However, for a budget device, the Q6 offers quite a nice appearance. There is, of course, no room for designer refinements here, but there are still some interesting features. What the eye immediately stops at is the non-standard-looking front panel. A widescreen screen with rounded corners is stretched across almost its entire area; by the way, it occupies almost 80 percent of the surface, and this is impressive. There is no fashionable 2.5D glass on the front; the manufacturer limited itself to a regular flat panel without bends, but the technology here is Gorilla Glass 3. Fans of gluing films and protective glasses will be only too happy about this.

The side frame is made of durable metal, while the back cover is plastic. The back of the device is glossy, but not slippery. It is characterized by excessive soiling and a tendency to scratches. After several minutes of use, the back cover becomes covered with clearly visible stains and stains. Interestingly, the LG Q6 is comparable in size to 5-inch models. It's a pleasure to use. Since it is narrow, it fits perfectly in the palm. Its proportions are 142.5 x 69.3 x 7.9 mm, its weight is no more than 163 grams. In terms of color options, the device is excellent, as colors such as black, gold, blue and white are available.

Above the screen there is an ear speaker mesh, a camera for selfies, and sensors, including a face recognition sensor. A lone manufacturer's logo is visible at the bottom. Since the bottom “beard” of the LG Q6 is very small, there is no place to place the touch soft buttons. Therefore, virtual controls are used, which can be swapped in the settings. The device is not equipped with a message indicator. The rear plane carries the main camera lens, a single backlight and a perforation for the main speaker in the lower part. On the left side there is a volume control and two trays. One serves to accommodate a pair of nanoSIM cards, but the other can only accommodate microSD up to an incredible 2 TB. The power button is on the right edge. The bottom end is distinguished by the presence of a microUSB port, a microphone and a 3.5 mm output; at the top there is only a hole for noise reduction.

Screen

Perhaps the only noteworthy feature in this product is the display. Smartphones in the same price range as the LG Q6 cannot yet offer anything similar. An elongated Full Vision screen measuring 5.5 inches, working using an IPS matrix, has acquired an exotic resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. It has already been said above that we are dealing with the format 18:9 or 2:1, as you wish. The image quality is worthy of praise; inexpensive devices often skimp on the matrix, but the Koreans did not go this route. The colors are pleasant, the picture looks good even at an intense tilt, the brightness is enough to not experience any discomfort in the bright sun. Adaptive backlight works correctly. Only the minimum settings for the screen characteristics are a little upsetting. There is, perhaps, a reading mode, which reduces eye strain. The panel simultaneously responds to 10 touches.

Technical part and performance

The LG Q6's hardware is based on the common Snapdragon 435 chip. Nothing bad can be said about this eight-core processor; it's a good processor, but its power is below average. It is equipped with an Adreno 505 accelerator. It copes well with low screen resolutions, but the new product has a huge pixel density, so good performance In resource-intensive games you shouldn't count on it. For example, in the game WOT Blitz you will have to reduce the graphics component to a minimum, since even at medium settings the device can hardly produce 20-30 fps. For basic tasks and smooth software operation, the available power reserve is more than enough. In AnTuTu, the device reached 38 thousand points. There are three versions of the smartphone with different sizes memory – initial Q6a, average Q6 and maximum Q6+. The first is equipped with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of ROM, the second is equipped with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of ROM, and the third has a memory capacity of 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM.

Connectivity and sound quality LG Q6

On board the “Korean” there was room for Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The developers, alas, did not spoil us with an NFC module in the initial version. But it is present in the Q6 and Q6+ versions. There is an FM radio equipped with RDS. There are no complaints about GPS and GLONASS tools; the location is determined instantly. Connection external drives supported on the phone. The 4G connection is carried out in frequencies B1, 3, 7 and 20.

In terms of audio capabilities, the LG Q6 did not surprise at all. The call speaker located on the back of the device can be called normal, but nothing more. The volume is sufficient, but its sound quality is mediocre - high frequencies rule, and low frequencies are virtually absent. At maximum it does not wheeze. The headphones are also nothing special, but the sound is quite decent.

Autonomy LG Q6

A battery is built into the body of the device, it is non-removable, its resource does not exceed 3000 mAh. And this applies to all three modifications. Autonomy here is quite good. The LG Q6 can last more than a day on a single charge if you give it simple tasks during the day. When you want to play for a long time, be prepared for the fact that the battery will lose up to 20 percent of its power in an hour. The new product was not provided with fast charging.

Interface

Although this is a budget product, the software content here is very thoughtful. The LG UI 5.0 shell operates on the Android 7.1.1 OS out of the factory. The appearance of the system has been significantly redesigned, and this has benefited the smartphone. The functionality of the firmware and the customization options are simply magnificent, the Korean wizards did a great job. The interface is pleasingly smooth. Light stuttering occurs extremely rarely, for example when many applications are open. On an elongated screen, using multi-window mode is very pleasant, it’s good that it is available.

Cameras LG Q6

In the presence of sufficient lighting, the 13-megapixel main camera module with an f/2.2 aperture takes acceptable pictures that will not be embarrassing. The photographs have adequate color rendition and good detail. Autofocus is fast and accurate. Poor lighting immediately affects the quality, noise makes itself felt, and frame clarity decreases. HDR is enabled by default, but can be turned off. The flash is bright, but moderately, it does not overexpose the pictures. The phone records video in Full HD, and electronic stabilization copes with its functions well. The front camera is equipped with a 100-degree grip. Demonstrates an average level of quality using a 5 MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture.

Conclusion

Pros of LG Q6:

  1. display quality and format;
  2. decent autonomy;
  3. rich software;
  4. compact dimensions;
  5. separate slot for microSD;
  6. assembly.

Cons of LG Q6:

  1. no event indicator;
  2. modest performance;
  3. NFC is missing in the younger version;
  4. no fingerprint scanner.
This smartphone, without a doubt, has a right to exist. There are many people in the world who only recognize top-tier brands. And the LG Q6 is designed for just such an audience. The rest are unlikely to be seduced by the fashionable widescreen screen in a device with a price of around 20 thousand rubles. After all, in addition to the screen, a modern product with such a hefty price tag must have better parameters. For this money you can easily find a more equipped alternative. However, the Korean company deserves praise for making innovation more accessible.

Frameless design is the main trend of 2017, which at first was the province of flagships, but has already reached the mid-range and even budget segments. The cost of devices with frameless displays is becoming more and more affordable, as confirmed by the Q6a smartphone from LG. This is the first such device from a world-class manufacturer with a cost of around 16,000 rubles. So let's review the LG Q6a and find out what the new model is like. As part of the article, we will take a comprehensive look at the phone, focusing on its shell, display, hardware, battery life and, of course, cameras.

Equipment

While conducting a review of the LG Q6a m700, we found simple equipment in the box, this is definitely not the strong point of the new device: a charger, a paper clip, instructions and a microUSB cable.

Design

The appearance of the LG Q6a phone largely follows the outline of the flagship LG G6 - thin frames on the sides, top and bottom of the display. When the screen is locked, there are no unusual impressions; it literally merges with the body, but as soon as you activate it, its working area seems huge.

The review of the LG Q6a smartphone makes it clear that a durable frame made of aluminum runs along the entire perimeter of the body. It plays the role of a “stiffening rib”, saving the device and its internal components when dropped. But still, to be on the safe side, it’s better to glue it from the first days safety glass- an inexpensive and effective means of protecting your phone.

The back is plastic, although if you don't look closely it resembles metal. Alas, the surface is glossy and will become scratched in a short time if you do not use a protective bumper.

Overall, the build quality is excellent, but that’s where the advantages end, because at a price of 17,000 rubles, the smartphone does not have a fingerprint scanner, which is now installed even on ultra-low-cost cars. Everyone will decide for themselves whether they need such a device, and it is worth noting that instead of standard unlocking with a scanner, there is an option to recognize the owner’s face. Another significant drawback is the outdated microUSB port, which of course does not support the technology fast charging. Although the ergonomics are good - the body is compact and comfortable to use even with one hand.

On the front side, in addition to a huge display with rounded ends, there is a speaker grid, a front camera peephole, a face recognition, light and proximity sensor.

At the bottom there is only a corporate logo, navigation keys do not take up body space, they are software.

On the back side we see the main camera lens placed under protective glass and a white single-section flash next to it. At the bottom of the back there is a speaker. The lid is noticeably curved around the entire perimeter and merges with the metal frame.

There are two spring-loaded slots on the left, one of which is used to accommodate a nano-SIM and microSD card, and the second for an additional nano-SIM. A little higher are separate keys for volume control.

On the right there is only one functional element - the power control button.

LG Q6a m700 smartphone review showed that the top edge of the device is occupied by a noise-canceling microphone.

The micro-USB port and 3.5 mm headset jack are installed at the bottom. The main microphone was placed next to them.

The LG Q6a went on sale in black, which we reviewed. In addition, gold and platinum are available.

LG Q6a display

LG Q6a black m700 review showed that the smartphone received a Full Vision IPS matrix with a high resolution of 2160x108 and an aspect ratio of 2:1. The screen is produced at the manufacturer's own facilities and turned out to be of good quality - wide viewing angles, colors are not distorted even at extreme angles. The black comes out deep and rich. The brightness reserve is enough - in the dark the smartphone does not dazzle the eyes, in the bright sun the picture is also easy to read. Auto brightness adjustment works flawlessly.

But the options for customizing the LG Q6a display are very limited. You can only select a mode in which most of the cold spectrum is blocked (analogous to the night mode on competitors’ devices). You can set its intensity in your own way or even switch to monochrome mode. Multi-touch supports up to 10 simultaneous touches.

LG Q6a interface

Still one of key features LG technology remains shell, based on Android 7.1.1. Already at the first acquaintance with the device, the changes made by the Korean manufacturer are striking. Appearance The interface has been greatly redesigned - the icons are located on a white background, which can be customized in the corresponding menu. Notification curtain and quick access light to the main functions. The settings menu is similar and is divided into 4 large categories.

The LG Q6a black m700 smartphone review showed that it is possible to customize the desktop: activate and disable the application menu, change the background color of each folder, and even install your own icon on the program. Can be downloaded new topic from a proprietary application, adjust the font style and size, and much more.

Performance

Our LG Q6a m700 16gb review moves on to the specifications, which are based on the budget Snapdragon 435 chip with 8 cores at 1.4 GHz. In addition, there is an Adreno 505 video accelerator. The amount of memory depends on the selected modification: 2+16GB or 3+32GB. We would recommend paying attention to the older modification; in the younger version, after switching on, less than 1 GB of RAM remains. With user memory, everything is simpler; its volume can be increased with a memory card up to 2 TB, and for this you do not have to sacrifice one SIM card. The LG m700 Q6a platinum smartphone has pretty good characteristics if the phone is not bought for gaming. They may experience slight stuttering and fps drops if you set the graphics to maximum in the settings.

Synthetic tests:

Cameras

LG Q6a m700 16gb camera review we will start with its interface, which, thanks to the 2:1 display, contains the main controls at the ends. On the right, you can select a shooting mode, view the latest frames and go back, which allows you to forget about the on-screen navigation keys.

On the left are icons for camera settings, but it’s inconvenient that the HDR mode control is not included on the panel. It is turned on automatically, and to disable it you need to go to the LG Q6a camera settings menu. If you wish, you can select “Simple view” in the settings, then the icons will not distract you from the shooting process.

LG Q6a phone review reveals interesting feature- you can divide the display in the “Camera” application into two different squares, on one half you can take pictures, and on the second you can view the footage. All pictures in this mode have an aspect ratio of 1:1. This also opens up the possibility of applying filters on top of pictures, even overlaying one frame on another.

During daytime shooting, minor problems with color reproduction and shallow depth of field are noticeable. When shooting indoors, sharpness on distant objects is almost unnoticeable.

In dark conditions, detail deteriorates and color rendition becomes poor. You can get a more beautiful photo using HDR, which improves color reproduction and brightens dark parts of the photo.

Example photo:

The front camera is also pleasantly surprising - it can be used for wide-angle shooting up to 100 degrees. To do this, you need to set the switch to the appropriate position. When switching to wide-angle shooting mode, a subtle fish-eye effect is observed, but we did not find any problems with quality and detail.

The LG Q6a m700 16gb smartphone review showed that the flash does its job perfectly - it highlights objects in the foreground, while maintaining natural colors and helping the sensor to correctly focus on the subject.

The panorama is stitched together neatly and has impressive detail, but the viewing angle does not reach the required 360 degrees and stops at 300.

The maximum video recording resolution is FullHD, at which it is possible to obtain good color rendition and detail. The only thing is that the picture flickers slightly when the frame moves, which is due to a software flaw.

Wireless communications LG Q6a

As expected, all interfaces are different high speed and job stability. All frequencies relevant to our country are supported mobile communications - maximum speed data transfer exceeds 200 Mb/s. Wi-Fi operates at a frequency of 2.4 GHz. The network is stable. For navigation, GPS or GLONASS is used, which, during a cold start, finds satellites in 10-15 seconds.

Autonomy

LG Q6a specifications include non-removable battery 3000 mAh, which is typical for devices with a similar display size and price. The battery life is average - in games, 24% of the charge is consumed in an hour; when playing videos, the battery runs out completely in 6 hours 16 minutes.

It's worth counting on a day offline use, if you don’t load your phone heavily throughout the day. But due to the lack of fast charging, it is optimal to charge the LG Q6a overnight. When 5-15% charge remains, the phone automatically enters power saving mode.

Conclusion

LG Q6a review and price make it clear that in its price category the smartphone has many competitors from the Middle Kingdom, which will be even better in their characteristics. These include Xiaomi Mi5S, OnePlus 3T and many other flagships. They will have a dual camera module, fast charging, USB Type-C, a fingerprint scanner and much more. But don’t forget about the advantages of LG Q6a, which include reliability: the manufacturer produces really high-quality electronics and offers free service on the territory of our country. And the main feature on the front side is a widescreen display, as well as a selfie camera with a wide-angle lens.

Advantages:

  • Gorgeous screen;
  • User-friendly interface;
  • Good system optimization.

Flaws:

  • Middle main camera module;
  • Lack of fingerprint scanner and NFC.

Your rating for the smartphone:

Today we are reviewing an interesting smartphone LG Q6A m700, which went on sale in the summer of 2017. This is one of those phones that all manufacturers now produce, namely the frameless version. The model is in the middle price segment in a flagship case. But, of course, it is not without its drawbacks. We will definitely talk about the pros and cons in the article.

The black cardboard box contains:

  • device in a shipping bag;
  • instructions;
  • warranty card;
  • a small paperclip for opening slots, so it is best to store it in a package with instructions and a warranty card;
  • MicroUSB cable for connecting to a computer and charging;
  • A power adapter with a 1.2 Amp top output that does not support fast charging.

The package for Russia and the CIS does not include headphones, although there is a compartment for them. Perhaps in some countries they will be additionally supplied, but not here. The equipment of the Lji Ku 6 Alpha is quite standard - everything is only the most necessary.

Appearance

The case materials used in the budget phone are plastic and metal. The design has become more European than before. The phone looks nice, however, the back of it is very worn. You need to wipe it periodically, otherwise the device looks dirty at certain angles.

Q6A is a simple version of Q6 as it has fewer features and less powerful iron.

In fact, for its main reasons, it copies the more expensive LG Q6 using cheap materials. This applies mainly back cover, which is entirely made of glossy plastic. This is a clear disadvantage of the gadget. It is strictly not recommended to use it without a cover. The plastic is soft and scratches quickly.

From the front side, these two devices are practically indistinguishable. The rounding in the corners of the screen, familiar to Q6 users, has been preserved, but rear end already has quite strong differences except for the quality of execution. For example, in Q6A there is no dual camera and a fingerprint scanner, unlike its expensive brother.

The side edges and frame are made of aluminum. The company reports this separately and positions the gadget as more durable. It is even certified to a special military standard, meaning that if it falls, it should not break.

LG Q6 alpha is the only phone in the line that is sold in Russia. There is also, however, the Q6 in two versions: with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of built-in memory and with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory.

The manufacturer offers a choice of three colors: black, gold and platinum. The device looks very compact, on par with 5-inch devices from other manufacturers.

Let's go through the design elements in more detail. On the front part of the state employee there is a 5.5-inch display, a front camera, proximity and lighting sensors and a speaker. Below is the company logo.

On the left there are volume buttons and two slots for two NanoSim cards and a MicroSD card, which will help further expand the built-in memory. The state employee fully supports two SIM cards without having to choose between a SIM card. This is quite a significant plus in purchasing the Lzh ku6 alfa. No combo slots.

On the right you can find the power button. There is nothing on top, just an additional microphone. At the bottom there is a port for MicroUSB and a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack, as well as a microphone. On the back there is the main camera, LED flash, two speakers and the model name.

Characteristics in terms of dimensions:

  • Height - 142 mm;
  • Thickness - 8 mm;
  • Width - 69 mm;
  • Weight - 149 g.

Screen

The LG Q6 alpha screen occupies almost the entire area on the front of the device. The display has a bright IPS matrix. Resolution 2160 by 1080 pixels (Full HD + Full Vision). The aspect ratio is 18 to 9. The screen material is plastic. Multitouch supports up to 10 touches. Pixel density - 442 ppi.

The budget phone is positioned as frameless, but in fact there are small frames at the bottom, top and along the edges. But nevertheless, such a solution is quite a big breakthrough in this price category. It is the framelessness that can be attributed to the main advantages of the Q6A compared to its competitors.

The display here is bright with good viewing angles.

In general, LG is one of the main display manufacturers. The company supplies them to other companies, including quite large ones. This applies to telephones, televisions, and almost all household appliances.

The screen is not protected by 2.5D curved tempered glass, which is now in vogue. This can only be considered a plus, since any protective glass will do. When gluing it, there will be no strange air pockets left along the edges that become dirty over time.

Saw and moisture protection are not provided, and where for that kind of money.

Processor and operating system

The LG Q6 alpha uses a Quallcom Snapdragon435 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz. This is an eight-core processor. Video accelerator - Adreno 505. RAM - 2 GB. I would like more, given the price of the smartphone, but there are so many. In fact, about 500-600 MB of them will remain free, which is extremely small. Built-in memory - 16 GB.

Performance is quite average and is on par with cheaper devices. For example, which costs almost twice as much.

In Asphalt 8 the device works fine on high settings graphics. In general, at a pretty good level. The smoothness is also quite good. Most likely, the same situation will happen in all games. True, you will most likely have to forget about 3D games. You need to immediately understand that

Q6A is a non-gaming phone.

A state employee works under Android control 7.1.1 with firmware from LG. Works quickly and looks nice. At the bottom, under the screen, there are touch buttons that can be customized as you wish.

There is a dual-window mode feature that allows you to use two applications at the same time, for example, chatting on a social network and reading a book. But due to the fact that there is little free RAM, it is uncomfortable to work in this mode. In some tasks, the device frankly “slows down” or simply takes a long time to load.

A 3000 mAh battery is installed inside, which on average provides one day of normal operation. What exactly will load? This includes some games, music on headphones, internet and calls. Of course, under heavy loads, discharge will occur faster.

According to the manufacturer, the battery is surrounded by empty space, which should prevent the device from overheating, but in reality this does not work.

Camera

The viewing angle of the front selfie camera is 100 degrees. But there is also a normal viewing mode, which is somewhere in the region of 65-75 degrees. In the latter case, more will be able to fit into the frame without using the panorama mode to take, for example, a group shot. But let's face it, for great selfies this phone doesn't fit. In the dark, she takes mediocre photographs, the details disappear completely.

An ordinary camera is, in principle, not bad. Strikingly different in quality from G6. True, this gadget costs much more. The frames are quite good in good lighting, but as soon as the lighting goes down, the detail is greatly reduced.

The state employee shoots video in Full HD format. This results in a lot of “noise” and large pixels.

Chips

LG Q6 alpha has several interesting features:

  1. When the screen is locked, if you quickly press the volume up button twice, the notepad will open. This function called Quick Memo.
  2. If you quickly press the bottom button twice, the camera opens. This function can be disabled if desired, so as not to be accidentally activated in your pocket.
  3. The camera has a “Square” function, thanks to which you can immediately view the photo you took. It will be displayed on the right side of the screen.

Results

The cost of the LG Q6A m700 is currently around 14,000 rubles, most of which is a beautiful display with narrow frames.

The manufacturer's gadget turned out to be quite good. In its price segment, this is a very interesting device. On the one hand, it is very similar to the LG Q6, but on the other hand, there is little left from its more expensive brother except the design: no “fast charging”, no USB Type C, and the camera is simpler, the processor is quite budget-friendly, no NFC.

For this price you can buy a smartphone from a less famous company, but with more powerful hardware and good cameras.
