The latest officially released firmware for the LG G2 is a build based on Android version 5, which is already pretty good.

The firmware is not badly "licked" and even after several months of operation it does not clog up much and does not start to slow down.

And if I tell you that you can install a firmware port from the current LG G4, or even the freshest Android Marshmallow on your smartphone?










Despite the years, the device is also well supported by the community and new software versions are released regularly.

I settled on the Cloudy 3.3 firmware, which combines the stability of the drain and the goodies from the later flagships of the company, such as an advanced camera application, dual-window mode and updated applications.

It is quite difficult to find a case or replacement cases under the VS980. But if you find the device in the original box, there is hope to get a complete wireless charger.

The LS980 is also Sprint's carrier version. Outwardly indistinguishable from the reference D802, internally it is notable for its support for CDMA (800 MHz).

Summing up the results of the LG G2 modifications, I can advise two things: not to buy the "F" series and not to order refurbished devices from China.

Otherwise, you run the risk of getting an incomprehensible sandwich of relabeled parts, which will keep in a heap on just one word of honor.

Six months after actively using the LG G2 as the main and only phone / smartphone, I can finally draw some conclusions about this device. But let's talk about everything in order.

What is LG's flagship?

Indeed, what is LG's flagship? I think before the release of the G2, few people thought about buying a smartphone under the LG brand. That is, the company produced smartphones, mostly budgetary ones, but it could not compete in popularity with giants like Samsung and HTC. And as such, the company did not have a flagship. But the LG G2 appeared and became a real revelation for many. Including for me.

I used to use Galaxy Note, which I already wrote about. At one time, this smartphone was a breakthrough - before it there were no smartphones with such large display... The LG G2 has a slightly smaller display, measuring 5.2 inches (5.3 on the Note). Visually, the difference is more noticeable. After Note, the device seemed small to me. One of the reasons for this is that the LG G2's buttons are located on the display (the Home and Back buttons), while on the Note they are located under the screen. In general, what to say, you can see the difference in size in the picture below.


Nevertheless, I did not feel any discomfort from the slightly reduced display. Quite the opposite - the display quality of the LG G2 is much better than that of the old Note. The resolution is also higher - 1920x1080 versus 1280x800. It's not just these numbers - the screen is much brighter and richer. Still - the phone has an IPS-matrix.

In general, having changed the device, I got a significant increase in the picture quality. But this is not the most important thing. The most important thing is that I got a huge performance boost. LG's flagship literally flies compared to the crawling Note. For the entire time of work, no freezes or lags were detected in this camera - which I cannot say about the Note. The G2 is very fast. It is striking that before updating the operating system to Android 4.4.2, the smartphone gave out 35,000 parrots to Antutu. After the update - 28-29 thousand. It felt like the update only affected these results and did not affect the overall performance of the device. The real speed of the G2 will be fully felt by those who have not changed their smartphone for a long time and decided to buy the G2. This is just my case.

Of course, all games work without problems. I'm not a fan of playing on mobile phone, but from what I started, I did not notice the brakes anywhere. The video works without problems. I constantly watch videos from it on YouTube and just downloaded films. Here, by the way, I was a little upset by the impossibility of expansion internal memory using maps. My phone has 16GB of built-in memory, which, of course, is not much at all.

When it comes to battery life, it's phenomenal for me. The smartphone lasts two days without problems, while the Note did not live up to the evening of one day. There is a 3000 mAh battery, and it pulls, I can tell you.


As for the phone control, its "magic" button on the back and the unusual location of the volume swing, I did not experience any particular inconveniences. But you still have to get used to, especially after another smartphone.

G2 Camera: Taking Photos and Videos

Of course, photography and video filming I just cannot ignore, I am literally obliged to make a separate block in this regard in today's review. The topic of the site does not allow you to evade the question of the quality of photos and videos.

There is a 13 megapixel camera. Actually, it gives out an image that is quite standard for soap dishes and smartphones. There is a built-in image stabilizer here, but I would not say that its work is strongly felt.

The quality of the photos is normal, as previously noted. No revelations - an ordinary soap dish in a smartphone. There was no significant increase in comparison with the Note. He had a pretty good camera. The changes are minor. Below are some pictures from the G2, you can see what the phone is capable of. All images are unprocessed, only resize.


The device shoots video well. Special meaning I don’t see the video, I myself am not a fan of video shooting, and there is nothing outstanding in the LG camera - at the level of other smartphones. Perhaps I will make a comparative test with cameras of other devices so that I can evaluate the difference, if any. I don't see any sense in a single video.

After 6 months of use

The appearance remains very good after 6 months of use. There are no scratches on the display at all (glory to Gorilla Glass). The back cover looks good too, although if you look closely, you can still find a few scuffs. In general, the phone is made of good materials, unlike the same Note, which peeled off in places, the display was scratched, and the back cover was rubbed.

The only problem is the dead charger of the device. It was not possible to find it on sale in Russia. It has a non-standard 1.8A. You can find 1.5 or 2.1 on the market, but not 1.8. I'm charging now with some kind of Chinese charger for 2.1 - it charges, of course, worse than my own.

conclusions

This is a great smartphone. G3 is out now, but it's not impressive. The G3 has gotten bigger and has a much worse charge hold. On this, in fact, one of the advantages of G2 dies - long time autonomous work. Therefore, as for me, now you can safely take the G2, and the prices for it have slightly decreased, but the device has not become worse. Perhaps, if something happened to my LG now, I would buy exactly the same one. That's all for today. Do right choice! Until next time!
