Windows 10 Fall Creators Update launched on October 17, 2017

Version 1709:Fall Creators Updatecalls myself How"Version 1709".

Microsoft has released, in her words, an innovative Fall Creators update. From now on it can be downloaded from using Windows Update, at least theoretically: as usual, Microsoft is slowly rolling out an update - it may take more than one day or week until it appears for you.

Among the new features, Microsoft highlights new features in the field of photography and working with the stylus, expansions in areas such as gaming, security and accessibility, as well as Windows support Mixed Reality. Some previously announced major features, unfortunately, did not appear in the Fall Creators Update and, apparently, will only be officially presented at the beginning of 2018 along with the next update. We'll tell you what you can be happy about in the "new" Windows 10 and what you can't.

You can get to the Fall Creators Update using well-known routes. The most convenient of them is through Windows Update. Those who don’t want to wait can take the process into their own hands and update via system utility or use the Media Creation Tool - you can download and install it through the Fall Creators Update utilities now.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update with Fluent Design

Applications show more transparency effects.

Under the name "Fluent Design System" Microsoft has included some very cool innovations for the external Windows view 10. Previously, these ideas flashed among specialists under the name “Projekt Neon”. At the same time, Microsoft worked primarily on transparency effects, which appear in both components most operating system, and in applications. There's also a bit more free space overall, making Windows look less cluttered. When you move your mouse over menu items, they stand out more clearly. Anyone who doesn't like Fluent Design can quite easily get rid of it using a special switch. In 2018, Fluent Design is planned to touch even more different elements in Windows.

OneDrive gets easier

OneDrive update: All files and folders can be viewed using Explorer
Windows, but they are actually downloaded only on demand.

OneDrive is getting a new feature that it already had in a similar form once. It's called Files On Demand. At the same time, Windows now shows OneDrive files in Explorer, even if they are not saved locally. They can be identified by the small bubble symbol in the column indicating status, which denotes location in cloud storage. To edit, you just need to click the mouse, and then the file will be downloaded to your computer. Advantage: With large OneDrive collections, you can save great space on local storage by downloading only the necessary files.

The most secure Windows of all time

Extortion is excluded: controlled access to folders will block the path of malware.

With the Fall Creators Update, Microsoft has worked hard to improve security. In particular, most of the EMET anti-hacker utility is already integrated into Windows. In addition, built-in Windows antivirus received special function, which should make life significantly more difficult for ransomware Trojans. Who will “neutralize” himself because of forgotten password, the one in the Fall Creators Update can get out of the situation quite simply. Account passwords Windows entries You can reset it directly in lock screen mode.

Displaying GPU load in Task Manager

GPU
-performance: the Task Manager now displays the loading chronology of the graphics card.

Sometimes things that make you happy Windows users with many years of experience, they can be quite basic. The feature, which hasn't been much talked about before, has all the makings of being highly sought after in the Fall Creators Update. Through the "Task Manager" users can check the loading of the graphics card. Thus, in addition to CPU, RAM, disk, network and Bluetooth, Fall Creators Update builds a graph of GPU load chronology.

Linking a smartphone

Linking your smartphone: Android and iOS smartphones can be linked to the Fall Creators Update.

Windows is taking its first steps towards connecting your computer and smartphone. This works with Android smartphones and iPhones. Once your smartphone and PC are connected, you can send a link from your phone to later view the website on your computer. This is not such a big step towards unifying the workspace and no one, as they say, will fall out of their chair in surprise, but this function- this is just the beginning. If you connect your smartphone via Bluetooth, then in the Fall Creators Update users will be able to use it as an assistant to log into Windows. The idea is this: as soon as the user with the smartphone is so far away that the Bluetooth connection is lost, Windows blocks access to the computer. If the user returns, the Fall Creators Update unlocks the system. Unfortunately, this dynamic lock did not work on our test PCs.

Photo control automatically creates video

Video automation: in photo management, the user can create a video from a photo folder in one click.

Even Windows Movie Maker will be surprised by this: manageable images from your photo folder create visual videos with music in one click. If you don't like the first version you compiled, you can create a new remix with exactly the same ease.

Edge becomes simpler and safer

Edge
-update: manageMicrosoft Edge it became easier.

Edge also received a transparent design in the Fall Creators Update. You can now scroll through websites and select links using the stylus, making it easier to navigate. You can also take notes directly from Edge, save them as PDFs, and send them to other users. This is quite practical, although it probably won't bring crowds of users to Edge. Microsoft has room to improve in this direction. Anyone who has ever opened it in Windows 10, in most cases, only to download Firefox or Chrome.

Netflix with 4K and HDR

Netflix in 4K and HDR: With the Fall Creators Update and the right hardware, Netflix in 4K and HDR is coming to your PC
HDR.

With the Fall Creators Update, Netflix fans will be able to watch 4K content with HDR on their computer. But just installing the Fall Creators Update won't be enough. In addition to the standalone Netflix app or Netflix in Edge, you'll need GeForce GTX 1000 series with at least 3 GB of video memory.

Deferred functionality

Only from 2018: cool
Timeline-function postponed until 2018

Unfortunately, not all previously planned features were implemented in the Fall Creators Update. Called Windows Timeline, Microsoft creates a Windows 10 “timeline” that displays a chronology of user actions. If yesterday you first typed text, then edited the table, and then started creating videos - Timeline will show all the actions in the right order. Using the slider on the edge of the screen, you can travel back in time and view the edited files. Unfortunately, the Timeline feature was removed from the Fall Creators Update, we can only hope for it to appear in the next version.

The same is true with the clipboard for multiple devices. Copy the address on your computer, and within a second you can paste it into the search bar on your smartphone in Google Maps. It sounds cool, but this feature did not fit into the Fall Creators Update preparation cycle. On the other hand, the Fall Creators Update introduced features that should have appeared in previous Windows 10 updates. In particular, you can now, if you wish, “dock” contacts with the taskbar so that friends and colleagues are just one click away from you .

Essentially this quick reinstallation operating system, preserving your personal data and default programs.

Reinstallation of Windows occurs in automatic mode. As a result, you get an absolutely fresh, activated, completely updated operating system with all the data that was stored in user folders. The process takes from 20 minutes: the duration depends on the power of the computer.

Method 3

The third method is intended for those users who were unable to get rid of the errors and decided to return to the previous version of Windows. This feature is familiar to you from older versions of the system and has not undergone any changes in Windows 10 Creators Update.

If you decide to uninstall the Windows 10 Creators Update, go to Settings → Update & Security → Recovery. There is a button here that, when clicked, will allow you to roll back.
