How to set up chat on twitch on top of the game. Install and configure Restream Chat for twitch, YouTube, and periscope

It’s hard to imagine many streams on YouTube without a chat, where users share their thoughts, exchange opinions, express their wishes and criticism. At the same time, organizing such a chat can become a significant problem, since many of the streamers are not sufficiently familiar with the corresponding YouTube interface (as well as the interface of the relevant program for creating streams “Open Broadcasting Software”). In order to learn, go to the corresponding article. And in this article I will try to help users, and I will tell you in detail how to organize a chat for a stream on YouTube, and what tools will help us in this.

Organization of a chat in a stream on your YouTube channel implies that you already have a stream configured in your account previously, as well as the OBS program installed on your PC, which is paired with your Youtube account.

The organization of the chat on YouTube is as follows:

  • Activate the chat in your YouTube channel and receive the corresponding chat link;
  • Adding a BrowseSource source to OBS, into the settings of which the link we received is entered;
  • Switch to the external chatv2.septapus.com resource, where Chat v2.0 Style Generator is located, thanks to which the chat is configured and the CSS data is copied;
  • Paste the specified CSS data into the corresponding window of the OBS program (the appearance of the chat changes as necessary).

At the same time, I note that this method is more relevant than other analogues, since for many external chats that need to be downloaded and installed on a PC, you need a source in “OBS” called “CLR-browser”, which is absent in the latest versions of OBS, being replaced by "BrowseSource".

We use the capabilities of "OBS" and "Youtube" to create a chat

How to create a chat for a stream on YouTube

So, to create a chat for the stream, I recommend that you do the following:

Now go to the “OBS” program, and in the main window create a new source by clicking on the plus sign and selecting “BrowseSource”.

Select “BrowserSource” in “OBS” Sources

The window for creating a new source will open, name it “Chat” and click on “OK”, the window for setting the source will open. In the “URL” column, paste the link you previously received on YouTube, and click “OK.”

A chat window will appear in the window, but it will have a rather rude appearance, and even with a white background, asynchronous with the black background of the screen itself. How to make a difference? Let's look at the features of chatv2.septapus.com.

How to download live chat

The capabilities of chatv2.septapus.com allow you to customize your chat on YouTube, as well as visually check how this chat will look on your channel. After making all the chat settings (I will describe how to do them in the next section), you will need to go to the very bottom of the page of this site, and copy the code located in the box called “CSS”.

Then it will be necessary to go to “OBS”, hover over the source we created earlier called “chat”, press the right mouse button, and select “Properties”. In the window that opens, you will need to find the “CSS” field, delete its existing content, and then paste in the CSS code that we previously copied on chatv2.septapus.com.

Stream chat setting

As I wrote above, the capabilities of chatv2.septapus.com allow for quite flexible configuration of the chat window and its contents. In this case, you will clearly see all the changes you make.

In particular, chat settings are divided into “Fonts” (fonts), “Avatars” (avatars), “Channel names” (channel names), Messages (messages), “Timestamps” (timestamps for sending messages), “Backgrounds” ( background), SuperChat / Fan Funding / Sponsors (Superchat / Donations, Sponsors), Animation, and, in fact, CSS (the language for describing the appearance of our chat).

Accordingly, you can change the size of letters (size), choose different fonts (fonts) to display text, color data fonts and so on.

After choosing the necessary settings, do not forget to copy the CSS code, and transfer it to the OBS program, as I mentioned above.

Conclusion

In this article, I considered a way to create a chat for communication on a YouTube stream, and what is the sequence of actions for organizing this chat. I draw the reader’s attention to the fact that all visual chat settings are made on the chatv2.septapus.com website, and the CSS code received from there is inserted into the corresponding settings field of the OBS program. Use the method I have provided, and the specified chat will delight you with its functionality over many of the broadcasts you performed.

Regarding the Permission field, then you can select the site or a specific user whose messages will be displayed in the program window or on the stream. This field is for determining permissions. For example, in “Platforms” youtube is selected and in “Permissions” checkboxes are selected for “Message in app window”, “Message in web UI” and Post Images, respectively, messages will be displayed both in the program and on the website (stream), sent images are shown. This is necessary in order to, for example, hide an annoying user for this:

  2. Enter his nickname in the "Users and groups" column in the "Username" field;
  3. And we hide it, for example, only from the program window by unchecking the "Message in app window" option so that it does not get you under a different nickname.

The next section “Click-Through Mode” allows you to control the chat only by pressing the “Ctrl” button (or any other key you specify, remember it otherwise you just won’t get into the program settings), the chat will not respond to clicks.

The next “Opacity” field controls the transparency of the window and messages — these are the “Window” and “Message” sliders. The last “Font Size” field controls the font size of messages, nicknames, and time.

In the “Notifications” tab Selects the volume of the notification sound. 4. In "Message text" - the displayed message in the chat.
  5. On the right, “Triggers and conditions” indicates how often this message is displayed. This is the Repeat slider.
  6. In the “Chat command” field, the command itself is set (specify with the “!” Symbol to avoid confusion).
  7. In the Voice command field, a voice message.
  8. “Trigger on keyword” indicates the word on which the command will also trigger (consider the case of letters, so the word “hello” and “Hello” for the bot are 2 different words)

In the "Action Type" field, you can specify "Send random text from the list" - the message will be random, that is, be selected from the specified list randomly (you can use for greeting, for example: hello bro, hello people, hi hi bro, etc. , and if you say hello% nick% then the bot will also indicate the nickname of the one who greeted). The text can also be taken from the text file “Send text file content”. When a command or a keyword is sent from a user, a script, link or program can be opened - “Run application / script or URL”.

Web server (deprecated) tab  there is an advanced customization of the chat, that is, you can choose:

  1. "Message show" - the effect of the appearance of the text.
  2. "Message hide" - the effect of the disappearance of the text.
  3. “Message alignment” - the direction in which messages appear (top or bottom).
  4. “Hide message after” - the time the text disappeared.
  5. “Max messages” - the limit of the number of messages.

All changes are automatically entered into a dynamic link that can be used for streaming, do not forget to check the “Enable” checkbox.

In the tab “Export”  You can choose how to save the chat.

  1. The first checkbox “Save chat in image” is intended for saving to images.
  2. The second checkbox “Save chat in text file” is for chat history in a text file.
  3. You can also save the number of viewers on the stream to a text file. This is the “Save viewer counters to .txt files” checkbox.

Profile Tab  contains one “Logout” button, useful in case you need to change the restream.io profile.

Last about tab  contains only the version number of the program, the version of the program when writing article 2.2.1.38 beta.

Restream Chat - simplicity and convenience for streamer

This chat is very easy and simple to configure, both for tweets and for YouTube. This is due to the specially created Restream.io website. Chat is automatically connected to your account on any of the 30 platforms that are available for broadcasts. The program itself is very practical and apparently has a huge amount of settings. Each user can configure the program personally for themselves and use as it will be convenient for him. You can use it at once on several profiles and respond from any convenient site. All the features and functions of the chat make it not interchangeable for any beginner streamer, as well as experienced.

Need a quality and convenient chat for the stream, Restream Chat this would be the right choice.
